Yamaha MT-15

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has updated its 150cc naked motorcycle, the MT-15, for 2022.

  • the 2022 MT-15 now appears in three new colours; Icon Blue, Midnight Black and Cyan Storm.
  • 2022 Yamaha MT-15 is now priced at RM12,298.

The Yamaha MT-15 will be available nationwide at every authorized Yamaha dealership beginning on 13 June 2022 (today).

The smallest of the ‘Monster of Torque’ range now comes in Icon Blue, Midnight Black, and Cyan Storm colourway.

Nevertheless, the MT-15 continues to run with the same 155cc VVA liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that makes 19hp @ 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm @ 8,500rpm.

However, there is a slight increase in the recommended retail price, which now sits at RM12,298 than the previous RM11,988.

Masing-masing menawarkan transmisi manual 6-kelajuan.

Yamaha recently launched the all-new FZ-X, a retro-styled naked motorcycle in India.

Despite the small displacement, the FZ-X features Bluetooth connectivity via the Yamaha Y-Connect application, allowing the rider to monitor the motorcycle information, including engine health, service intervals, and parking location.

The Y-Connect feature is similar to the one available in Malaysia with the all-new 2021 Yamaha NVX.

However, the latest report suggests that Yamaha plans to update the YZF-R15 and MT-15 range to feature Bluetooth connectivity.

The move is seen as an effort to increase ownership experience, especially aspiring riders.

The Y-Connect function will enable riders to access the bikes overall condition and location, including sharing your ride on social media.

The long-awaited Yamaha MT-15 was spotted in Malaysia recently.

According to our friends at Pandu Laju, a reader sent in the photos of the bike being ridden on the North-South Expressway. From the picture, we could see that it bears a trade plate and wore no camouflage. It could well be tested for homologation purposes.

Although touted as the MT-25 in their website, our take is that the bike is the MT-15. The photo isn’t clear at all, but there is a piece of bodywork poking out in front of the rider’s right knee. As the MT-25 doesn’t have radiator shrouds (check out the main picture), it narrows down to the MT-15.

Anyway, If it’s indeed going through homologation, it means that we’ll probably see it being launched soon, but most probably in January during the annual Hong Leong Yamaha Dealers’ Convention, usually  held at Genting Highlands.

Also evident in the photo are some elements of the bike’s styling. Its rear end and exhaust silencer are carried over from the fully-faired YZF-R15. In fact, the MT-15 is the naked version based on the popular YZF-R15 platform, thereby running the same mechanicals.

We shall see if it’s actually the MT-15 or MT-25 later, but Malaysian motorcycle fans will have something awesome to look forward to next year!
