Yamaha E01

  • pengecas konvensional (rumah) – 6 jam hingga penuh
  • pengecas pantas (pengedar) – 1 jam hingga 80 peratus
  • pengecas mudah alih – 13 jam hingga penuh

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has officially showcased the Japanese motorcycle company first electric motorcycle, the E01.

  • It features a 4.9kWh lithium-ion battery and electric motor setup with 10.8HP and 30.2NM.
  • Yamaha claims a maximum range of at least 100KM and ability to hit speeds of 100KM/H.

The electric two-wheeler made its global appearance in January 2022 and was confirmed to make its way to Malaysia after the country was among the few selected to test out the motorcycle.

That said, Yamaha has already tested the E01 in Europe and Japan.

Nevertheless, we were given the opportunity to take a closer look at the E01 at the recently concluded Yamaha GenBlue Carnival, in Pantai Teluk Batik, Perak.

Notably, the Yamaha E01 sports proportions and dimensions similar to that of the Yamaha NMax scooter. But instead of a 155cc VVA-equipped single-cylinder and CVT box setup, the E01 features a that, according to Yamaha, is capable of generating 8.1kW (10.8HP) @ 5,000RPM and 30.2NM @ 1,950RPM.

Furthermore, the Yamaha E01 also offers a decent level of daily practicality thanks to the presence of a sizeable 23-litre under-seat storage bin.

Critically, as an urban scooter, the Yamaha E01 promises a maximum travel range of up to 100KM at least plus whilst also reaching speeds of 105km/h too.

As for charging, there are three options available:

  • Conventional charger (home) – 6 hours to full
  • Fast charger (distributor) – 1 hour to 80 percent
  • Portable charger – 13 hours to full

Pricing and availability of the Yamaha E01 is yet to be announce but it is understood that the new electric motorcycle will be priced similar to Yamaha’s XMax 250 scooter.

Malaysia named one of several markets where the Yamaha E01 electric scooter will be tested.

  • pengecas konvensional (rumah) – 5 jam hingga penuh
  • pengecas pantas (pengedar) – 1 jam hingga 80 peratus
  • pengecas mudah alih – 14 jam hingga penuh

Yamaha upcoming electric scooter, the E01 has been spotted doing its trial run in Japan, signalling the Japanese marquee EV plans for 2022.

According to reports, Yamaha organized a test ride session with media companies in an effort to get inputs on the electric scooter.

Despite being heavily wrapped up in camouflage, the silhouette is clearly similar to the E01 concept showcased at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.

Nevertheless, we could see the tiny almost circular twin headlamps at the front similar to the one available on the R1 and the Tracer 9 GT.

Meanwhile, the dashboard features an all-digital LCD display which could also feature the Y-Connect system once the production model is out.

The Y-Connect function allows riders to connect the instrument cluster to a smartphone which displays turn-by-turn navigation.

The E01 also gets disc brakes (front and rear), twin shock absorbers, 13-inch wheels, ABS, keyless ignition and riding modes.

The Yamaha E01 could make its way to Europe and the Asian market soon.

Yamaha has confirmed that the E01 and E02 electric scooter concept revealed two years ago in Tokyo will be headed for production.

Yamaha first unveiled the E01 and E02 at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show as a concept model.

Two years went by without any news, which triggered many to question Yamaha’s commitment towards electrifying its motorcycle range.

However, back in May this year, patent images have revealed a production-ready version of the E01 electric scooter followed by the E02.

In the latest development, Yamaha has announced its 2022 production plans for the European and Asian markets which will include the E01 and E02.

The E01 is an electric scooter equivalent to a 125cc motorcycle while the E02 is similar to a 50cc scooter.

Further details remained unknown at this point in time but E01 and E02 are likely to have a power output of 11kW (15hp) and 4kW (5.3hp) respectively.

Yamaha latest patent revealed plans to move the battery-powered E01 concept to production.

This is a big move coming from the office of Iwata, Japan, considering the manufacture have remained dominated by gas-powered machines.

Yamaha unveiled the E01 at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, but due to the global pandemic happening a few months later, the plan was put on hold.

According to Yamaha, the E01 was intended as a replacement for the 125cc scooter, thus it is likely the electric motorcycle has a power output of around 11kW (15hp).

Moreover, recent reports suggest the production version will offer a higher power level, making it suitable for daily usage.

Interestingly, Yamaha intends to continue with the codename E01 for the production version based on the trademark filed earlier this year.

The production model will retain most of the elements found on the concept machine but with some tweaks to suit the real world better, as shown on the new patents.

The headlight takes cue from the YZF-R1 with two LED units mounted underneath the nose, while the top part that looks like a single ‘headlamp’ actually hides the charging socket.

This is a brilliant move by Yamaha, which allow better access to the charging station.

Since the middle section of the electric scooter is mainly designed to fit in a large lithium-ion battery, you can expect less storage space than a conventional gas-powered scooter.

Despite no further details, we can safely assume the E01 will debut in 2022.

Yamaha bakal menghangatkan lagi Tokyo Motor Show 2019, 23 Oktober ini apabila bakal memperkenalkan dua skuter elektrik.
