Yamaha WorldSBK rider, Toprak Razgatlioglu, has unveiled to Jonathan Rea that he will ride the Yamaha MotoGP factory machine at the end of the season.

The Turkish rider met with Rea at the Barcelona round and exchanged a few words before casually revealed that he received the opportunity to ride the Yamaha YZR-M1.

“I’ll try the M1 at the end of the season. I’ll do it to understand the bike and how it works; maybe I won’t even like it,” said the Turks.

The conversation was recorded on Rea’s YouTube channel, which you can checkout below:

While it may be exciting to see Razgatlioglu onboard the M1, knowing that he already penned a two-year extension to remain in WorldSBK, this could be just an effort to allow him to taste at MotoGP.

Nonetheless, we might see him in the world championship in a couple of years.

After sustaining two broken ribs in the Superpole race of last weekend’s Barcelona round, Chaz Davies has decided to hang up his glove ahead of this weekend’s Jerez round.

The 34-year-old Go Eleven Ducati satellite team will bow out as one of WorldSBK most successful riders, having scored 32 race wins and three runner-ups in 2015, 2017 and 2018 since his debut nine years ago.

The 2021 season has not been easy for Davies, as he suffered a shoulder injury during the third round of the season in Misano.

Despite making a full recovery and returning to racing at Magny-Cours, he was ousted the following round in Barcelona. He was involved in a collision with Puccetti Kawasaki, Lucas Mahias during the early stage Superpole, where Davies was then confirmed to suffered two broken ribs.

Nevertheless, the British rider will remain the seventh most successful rider in WorldSBK history in race wins; 28 of them came on board the Ducati machinery.

BMW Motorrad WorldSBK rider, Tom Sykes, has to remain in the hospital for further observation after suffering a severe concussion.

The British rider was involved in an accident during Race 2 in Barcelona and taken to the medical centre for assessment before being sent to the Barcelona hospital for further evaluation.

In a new development, BMW Motorrad has revealed that the 36-year-old rider will need to remain in the hospital for further examinations.

“We are in constant contact with Tom.

“He is in good spirits and is back to his usual self, cracking jokes. We are delighted that he has come through this accident relatively well. He remains under observation due to the severe concussion, but no further injuries have been determined.

“We now have to wait and see what this coming weekend will look like. We will provide more information as soon as we get it.

“We would like to thank the track marshals, the medical staff at the circuit and in the hospital, and everyone who helped Tom so well after his accident and who are continuing to help him,” said Marc Bongers, BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director.

As things stand, Sykes will likely discharge from the hospital on Wednesday.

KTM MotoGP rider, Iker Lecuona, is set to move to WorldSBK with HRC Honda for the 2022 WorldSBK Championship.

The Tech3 KTM rider was heavily linked with a move to WorldSBK after failing to secure a spot in MotoGP for the 2022 season.

Nonetheless, Lecuona hinted that there are a few options on the table in WorldSBK, including a possible move to HRC to replace Ducati-bound Alvaro Bautista.

“We still finalising every point in the contract. I expect to say something at Misano if everything is fine.

“I think I’ve learnt a lot of things for my life too. I’m very happy to have stayed here for two years.

“I don’t know if in the future, I will come back or if I will stay in another Championship.

“I don’t know; I just know I want to continue these performances, to continue to enjoy, to fight with my idols, and then we will see what happen,” said the 21-year-old rider.

Despite his uncertain future at MotoGP, Lecuona still has time on his hand as he is just 21.

Moving to WorldSBK to justify himself as a competitive rider could serve him well and perhaps make his way back to the MotoGP World Championship in a few years.

Ducati has announced the return of Alvaro Bautista for the 2022 WorldSBK season.

Bautista will replace the outgoing Scott Redding, who is set to join Michael van der Mark at the Shaun Muir Racing-run BMW in 2022.

Bautista joins Aruba.it in 2019, where he recorded 16 victories (24 podiums in total, before finishing second in the championship standings.

However, he decided to move to Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) a year later before the two face many difficulties caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Nonetheless, the former 125cc world champion in 2013 will return onboard the Panigale V4 R in a bid to challenge the 2022 championship title.

Meanwhile, RC Presiden, Shinya Wakabayahsi, expressed his gratitude towards Bautista for his commitment for the last two years.

“At the end of 2021, our collaboration with Alvaro Bautista will draw to a close.

“The last two years have been intense, characterised by the unexpected and imposing challenges posed by the global pandemic and by the significant work involved in a fledgling project like ours.

“We would therefore thank Alvaro and wish him the very best for the future.”

WorldSBK rider Toprak Razgatlioglu is not thinking about MotoGP yet as he prioritises becoming a WorldSBK champion first.

The Turkish rider was heavily linked with the Sepang Racing Team MotoGP to replace the retiring Valentino Rossi.

It is understood that the offer to move to MotoGP with SRT was on the table for the 24-year-old rider before he decided to extend his stay in WorldSBK for two more seasons.

According to Razgatlioglu, his current objective is to become a World Champion in WorldSBK.

“Normally, my plan would be to be Superbike World Champion and maybe after that move up to the MotoGP paddock, and I don’t know.

“Now I’m just focused on being a Superbike champion, and I like the category paddock.

“I remember being here in 2013 and 2014 at the Rookies Cup, and this is a completely different paddock.

“Everyone has the dream of being in MotoGP, I know that, but I repeat, I haven’t had that dream for many years now because I know that for me MotoGP is like a galaxy, and maybe I could have a bike, but for me personally I think it’s better to be champion in Superbikes, that’s the dream and what I’m following and after that maybe we can come here,” he said.

Despite finishing the 2020 season at 4th place, the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK rider is just three points behind Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea in the overall standings, thanks to five wins from the last ten races.
