Caofen, a new emerging electric brand, has announced its entry into the UK market with the launch of two electric motorbikes – the F80 Adventure and F80 Off-Road.

  • The road-ready F80 Adventure will retail at GBP5,995 (RM33k), while the F80 Off-Road will cost GBP5,495 (RM30.3k).
  • Caofen is a newly developed electric motorcycle company from China owned by Chongqing Huanghe Motorcycle Company.

The Caofen F80 bikes are equipped with patented battery technology, a single-piece frame, and an enhanced motor. They are designed to improve performance and longevity, enabling riders to enjoy their ride, go faster, and cover more distance on a single charge.

The Caofen F80 bikes have been developed to compete with other electric motorbikes already available in the UK market. The launch of these bikes is expected to bring more competition to the market and increase the availability of affordable electric motorbikes.

The company has launched its newly designed website where interested buyers can find more information about the specifications of the F80 Adventure and F80 Off-Road. The website also provides information about other upcoming models from Caofen.

The launch of the Caofen F80 bikes is a significant development in the electric motorbike market in the UK. With more consumers looking to reduce their carbon footprint, the demand for electric bikes is expected to rise in the coming years. The Caofen F80 bikes offer an affordable option for those looking to transition to electric motorbikes.

Norton Motorcycles has just opened its first retail store, the Norton Atelier, at The Bike Shed in London. This is a major milestone for the British brand, which has been steadily rebuilding after a period of tumultuous change.

  • The new flagship store to showcase the brand’s V4SV superbike and the iconic Commanod 961.
  • Norton also plans to establish showrooms at five other locations throughout the UK.

Norton’s new CEO and a £100 million investment have helped to revitalize the company, and the launch of the 2023 Commando 961 has shown that Norton is ready to compete once again.

The Norton Atelier showcases the V4SV superbike and the Commando 961, both of which are available for purchase or test rides. Additionally, the showroom features Norton apparel designed by Savile Row fashion designer Nick Tentis. Tentis has also played a significant role in designing the retail space, which he describes as reflecting the history and values of the Norton brand.

The launch of the Norton Atelier is just the beginning for the brand. The company plans to establish showrooms at five other locations throughout the UK, including Krazy Horse London, Crawley’s P&H Motorcycles, Sheffield’s Via Moto, Bodmin’s Thor Motorcycles, and Cheshire’s Oakmere Motor Group. All of these locations will offer test rides, maintenance, and parts and accessories.

Norton Chief Commercial Officer Christian Gladwell expressed his enthusiasm for the brand’s expansion into the marketplace. “More dealers mean more riders enjoying the results of the hard work and dedication that the entire team at Norton has contributed towards,” he said.

The French government has expanded its noise radars from Paris to other places around the country.

  • Noise radar detects any motorcycles that register more than 90dB.
  • The technology is expected to expand across Europe.

Dubbed the “Medusa”, these noise radars feature a 360-degree camera with several microphones to capture vehicles that fit loud exhaust.

The purpose of the noise radars is to stop the public from fitting loud exhaust to their vehicles, especially motorcycles.

Why motorcycles? According to L’Automobile Magazine, bikers have become a nuisance in the village of Saint-Forget in the Yvelines region, with over 500 bikers with loud pipes disrupting the tranquillity in the area.

Politicians in the Chevreuse Valley also claimed that it is common for motorcycles to record up to 130dB in the area.

That said, French authorities have introduced a limit of just 90dB, with those caught can be fined as much as EUR135 (RM600).

According to previous reports, the technology is set to be introduced across Europe, with the UK set to follow suit after testing similar technology in some areas.

Although the sales of motorcycles in the UK fell for the third consecutive month in June mid-way into 2022, the sales figure still comfortably exceeded the numbers recorded back in 2021.

  • Triumph sold 225 units of the Trident 660 in June 2022.
  • Honda retains the lead with most motorcycle sold in the June.

A total of 63,963 units of motorcycles were sold during the first six months of 2022, exceeding the 58,105 units sold during the same period last year. Despite the downward trend, things are still looking positive for the two-wheels market.

While Honda continue to take top spot of the UK sales charts with 2,200 units sold in June alone, Triumph Motorcycles made the most impressive start to the year, by leapfrogging Yamaha to ranked second as the most popular brand in the country.

In addition, Triumph’s middle-weight  motorcycle, the Trident 660 emerged as the best selling motorcycle with 225 units sold in June.

Thanks to its affordable price tag, the Trident 660 is fast becoming a favourite not just for beginners but also seasoned riders.

In terms of firepower, the all-new Trident comes with a 660cc three-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooled engine that produces a respectable 80hp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of torque at 6,250rpm. This package offers a punchy power delivery throughout its rev range together with a unique triple-cylinder soundtrack.

A six-speed manual transmission handles all the power delivery to its rear wheel and that is further enhanced with the presence of an assist/slipper clutch. There’s also the addition of a ride-by-wire throttle, selectable riding modes, and switchable traction control for even greater riding efficiency across the board.

– Visordown

  • A group of UK lawmakers are pushing to ban handsfree devices for motorcyclists.

  • Having a Bluetooth communicator is the safest way of accessing the phone’s functions such as navigation, intercom and music.

  • Hope no gila kuasa (power hungry) group in Malaysia will suggest this dumb idea.

A group of UK lawmakers are pushing to ban handsfree devices for motorcyclists.

The suits are of the opinion that devices such as Bluetooth (CT) communicators are no different in distracting riders as holding the phone themselves.

In opinion, such a suggestion is only made by those who have never ridden a motorcycle and definitely not used a BT intercom. A BT intercom allows the user to make and receive calls in the helmet. Besides that, he can stream music or radio programming while riding, but there are advantages beyond that function.

Streaming music via BT means the rider can also stream satnav (satellite navigation) instructions via voice commands, rather than having to keep looking down at the phone. Besides that, it’s the best way to communicate with the passenger and other riders.

If BT communicators are not allowed for reasons of being distracting, shouldn’t the radio be banned in cars too? Most, if not all, new cars these days have phone connectivity through BT, as well.

Sure, this recommendation is happening in the UK, but wait till a certain gila kuasa (power hungry) “safety” group suggests the same thing here in Malaysia, like they how they advised the government that bikes should be limited to only 70 km/h and confined to the left lane.
