Triumph has unveiled an array of new features and upgrades for its Tiger 1200 family in 2024, elevating the range to new heights of advancement and sophistication. The enhancements encompass refined engine performance, improved comfort and ergonomics, enhanced cornering capabilities, reduced seat height with Active Preload Reduction, and vibrant new color options.

According to Triumph, the renowned 1160cc triple engine now offers an even smoother and more controlled riding experience, particularly at low speeds, while retaining its distinctive triple character derived from its T-plane crank. The engineering team at Triumph has fine-tuned the engine by modifying the crankshaft, alternator rotor, and balancer to enhance engine inertia, along with corresponding adjustments to engine calibration. These refinements result in heightened smoothness during acceleration and deceleration, especially noticeable at lower speeds. Additionally, an updated clutch design ensures a smoother engagement when shifting into first gear.

Furthermore, Triumph has prioritised all-day comfort for riders embarking on long-distance journeys with the Tiger 1200. A revised engine balancing strategy contributes to a smoother and more refined engine performance, enhancing comfort across various rider touchpoints. Borrowing from the successful Explorer models, dampened handlebars and risers have been incorporated into the GT Pro and Rally Pro, providing a smoother ride and improved mirror visibility.

The rider seat has undergone a redesign, featuring a flatter profile to offer riders more space and reduce fatigue during extended trips. Additionally, the accessory low seat, which lowers the seat position by 20mm, has been redesigned for enhanced comfort. A longer clutch lever has also been introduced to provide additional space for riders’ fingers, further enhancing comfort on extended journeys.

Triumph has raised the cornering ground clearance of the Tiger 1200 GT Pro and GT Explorer models by adjusting the footpeg positions, thereby increasing rider confidence during cornering maneuvers. The introduction of the Active Preload Reduction feature allows riders to lower the seat height by up to 20mm simply by pressing the ‘Home’ button for one second on the switch cube as the Tiger 1200 slows to a stop.

The Tiger 1200 is now available in some markets in four variants, featuring new colors for 2024. The Tiger 1200 GT Pro and GT Explorer are offered in striking Carnival Red, in addition to Snowdonia White and Sapphire Black. The Tiger 1200 Rally Pro and Rally Explorer come in stylish new Matt Sandstorm and Jet Black options, alongside the popular Matt Khaki.

Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the 2024 updates, highlighting their potential to enhance the riding experience and expand the Tiger 1200’s global appeal. Since its debut in 2021, the latest generation Tiger 1200 has garnered significant sales success worldwide, with the Tiger 1200 GT Explorer notably chosen by Enduro World Champion Ivan Cervantes for his Guinness World Records feat of covering the greatest distance on a motorcycle in 24 hours.

Fast Bike Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of the Triumph Motorcycles brand in Malaysia has also announced the official price for the 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 range for the local market.

The introduction of the Triumph Tiger 1200 marks an exciting start to the calendar year for Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia.

“We are anticipating that it will become an exciting year ahead not only for the brand but all motorcycle enthusiasts with this new line-up of models which offers the best proposition in terms of performance, the level of equipment and value,” said Chief Executive Officer of Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Razak Al-Malique Hussain.

According to an official statement by Fast Bike Sdn Bhd today, the Tiger 1200 range is available in two variants, the GT Pro and Rally Explorer and is priced at RM115,900 and RM130,900 respectively.

The construction of the new Tiger 1200 focused solely on creating lighter and much powerful ADV bikes with class-leading handling and specs on and off-road.

At the centre of the building is an all-new T-Plane crank engine that was previously introduced on the Tiger 900 range.

The all-new 1160cc powerplant now makes 147hp @ 9,000rpm (8.5hp increase than the previous generation) and 130Nm @ 7,000rpm (8Nm up).

For 2022, Triumph’s added the Rally Explorer as the newest member of the Tiger 1200 range which features a 30L fuel tank – 20L fuel tank on the GT Pro -, higher-spec kit and added electronics, inlcuding the innovative blind spot detection system.

Back in December, Triumph has officially launched the 2022 Tiger 1200, marking the British brand big step into the adventure-touring segment.

While no official release date was disclosed at the time, Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia has confirmed that the new motorcycle is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia sometime in Q2 2022.

The news did not come as a surprise considering Fast Bike Sdn Bhd (the sole distributor of the Hinckley brand in Malaysia) has frequently rolled out the latest model within a short period of time after its global launch. Talk about efficiency!

Anyway, the few months of waiting could give customers just enough time to start saving before the arrival of the new Tiger 1200.

This time around, the Tiger 1200 features GT and Rally editions with the addition of new Explorer versions that boast a 30L fuel tank, higher-spec kit and added electronics.

The Tiger 1200 GT and GT Pro features semi-active Showa suspension and gets a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear cast aluminium wheel.

While the Tiger 1200 Rally and Rally Pro are equipped with 21″ front and 18″ rear tubeless rims for superior off-road handling and ability.

However, the Explorer variant boasts an innovative blind spot detection system like the one available on the Ducati Multistrada V4 and KTM 1290 Super Adventure S including a substantial 30L fuel tank.

As we are about to march into the new year, motorcycle manufacturers have been busy updating their 2022 portfolio.

The conclusion of EICMA 2021 showcased a host of manufacturers proudly presenting their 2022 motorcycles, while some decided to rely on online presentation.

Despite each manufacturer’s wide range of models, the adventure segment is the one to look out for next year.

Here are the top seven all-new adventure bikes to look out for in 2022:

1 .Aprilia Tuareg 660

Aprilia’s officially unveiled the 2022 Tuareg 660 in November and instantly became a hit among ADV fans.

Weighs at just 186kg, the Tuareg is set to become a fan favourite thanks to Aprilia’sAprilia’s latest 660cc parallel-twin with a 270-degree crank engine.

Despite being detuned to make 80hp and 70Nm, it features a host of technological advancements, including Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC), traction control, riding modes, engine brake settings, and cruise control that can be accessed via a 5″ TFT display.

Equipped with a 21″ and 18″ front/rear wheel, the Tuareg 660 is definitely one of the top ADV bikes to look out for.

2 .Husqvarna Norden 901

The Norden 901 is definitely one of the most beautifully designed ADV bikes ever built by Husqvarna, despite its first attempt at building a dual-purpose motorcycle.

Underneath the sick fairing sits an 890cc parallel-twin engine (taken from KTM’sKTM’s 890 Adventure) that makes 103hp and 100Nm.

Despite sharing the same engine with the 890, the Norden features taller suspension travel from the WP Apex suspension setup, 215mm and 220mm, as opposed to KTM’s 200mm.

The Norden 901 also come equipped with traction control, cornering ABS, auxiliary LED lights and a quickshifter.

With a 19L tank, the Norden 901 is definitely should be on your list if you’re looking to get some range week in week out.

3. Benelli TRK 802

There has been no shortage of middleweight adventure bikes debuting at EICMA, and the upcoming Benelli TRK 802 is the most surprising.

Continuing the success of Benelli’sBenelli’s TRK 502 that debuted in 2015, the TRK 802 makes a good 76hp and 67Nm @ 6,5000rpm.

As usual, the TRK 802 is a bit underpowered and a bit overweight (dry weight rated at 226kg) to be a hardline competitor of the other European and Japanese models; however, it makes a strong offerings thanks to its design and ridiculously affordable price tag.

Moreover, you get decent specs, including Brembo’sBrembo’s brake, a full LED light setup with DRL and a fancy 7-inch TFT display.

4. MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5 & Lucky Explorer 5.5

*Lucky Explorer 9.5

MV Agusta has officially announced its first attempt into the adventure-bike scene with the introduction of two near-production prototypes at EICMA 2021.

The Lucky Explorer 9.5 features a new 931cc 3-cylinder powerplant that makes 123hp and 102Nm, while the Lucky Explorer 5.5 is equipped with 550cc parallel-twin engine co-developed with a Chinese manufacturer, Qianjiang Motorcycles.

*Lucky Explorer 5.5

The two motorcycles also adopt the same Lucky Strike-inspired colours featured on the iconic Cagiva Elefant.

The 9.5 comes with two transmission types: a Rekluse automatic clutch and a semi-automatic electronic actuated transmission similar to the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin DCT’sDCT’s.

5. Triumph Tiger 1200

Triumph Motorcycles has officially unveiled its top of the line Tiger range with the heavily updated Tiger 1200.

According to Triumph, the construction of the new Tiger 1200 focused solely on creating lighter and much powerful ADV bikes with class-leading handling and specs on and off-road.

The Tiger 1200 now features GT and Rally edition with the new Explorer version that boasts a 30L fuel tank, higher-spec kit, and added electronics.

The Tiger 1200 GT and GT Pro features semi-active Showa suspension and gets a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear cast aluminium wheel, while the Tiger 1200 Rally and Rally Pro are equipped with 21″ front and 18″ rear tubeless rims for superior off-road handling and ability.

However, the Triumph Tiger 1200 Explorer gets an impressive blind spot detection system developed by Continental, which is considered to be a huge selling point for any ADV bike these days.

6. Ducati DesertX

If your 2022 vision is to dream big, we suggest you to ‘Dream Wilder’ with Ducati’s latest addition, the 2022 DesertX.

Heavily inspired by the rally raiders that competed in the Paris-Dakar Rally during the 80s and 90s, the DesertX appears in heavy off-road elements combined with distinctive twin circular LED headlights with DRL (Daytime Running Light).

Built around an all-new steel trellis frame, the DesertX features a fully-adjustable Kayaba suspension setup, Brembo M50 callipers and Bosch Cornering ABS.

At heart sits the 937cc Testastretta 11-degree Desmodromic engine capable of producing 110hp @ 9,250rpm and 92Nm @ 6,500rpm.

Despite being fitted with the same plant as the Hypermotard and SuperSport 950, Ducati has updated the powerplant with lighter components.

The DesertX offers six riding modes comprising of Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally. Riders can also adjust the power modes accordingly.

Looking at how Ducati saved the DesertX for the last after introducing the Multistrada V2, Streetfighter V2 and the updated Panigale V4 S, it is safe to assume that the Borgo Panigale factory is putting high hopes for the new machine.

There you go, folks, a complete look into what’s in store for you for 2022. If you like what you see, then perhaps it’s time to save up and get the adventure bike of your dream.

Looking back at the list, we expect 2022 to be a year full of adventure, in a good way.

Triumph Motorcycles has officially launched the all-new Tiger 1200 and marked the British firm big step into the adventure-touring segment.

The construction of the new Tiger 1200 focused solely on creating lighter and much powerful ADV bikes with class-leading handling and specs on and off-road.

At the centre of the building is an all-new T-Plane crank engine that was previously introduced on the Tiger 900 range.

Interestingly, the Tiger 1200 also features GT and Rally editions with the addition of new Explorer versions that boast a 30L fuel tank, higher-spec kit and added electronics.

The entire range of the new Tiger 1200 is expected to arrive at worldwide dealerships sometime in 2022.

Triumph Motorcycles has shed some light on the upcoming Tiger 1200 ahead of its official launch.

The Tiger 1200 is set to join the recently launched Tiger 660 and the already available Tiger 900.

The latest images by the folks at Hinckley revealed a clear redesign of the Tiger 1200 but still maintaining the same identity as the previous generation.

While this is not our first insight into the new Tiger 1200, the new images provide a better look into the upcoming ADV bike.

What we realized is that the new Tiger 1200 appears to have slimmer bodywork than its predecessor.

Despite no further details being revealed, Triumph already confirmed that the 1200cc bike will be available in a T-Plane configuration like the Tiger 900.

The result is a thumpy power delivery at low rpm similar to a V-Twin.

Just a few weeks ago, Triumph Motorcycles unveiled the Tiger 1200 Prototype, which is launching soon.

When the guys at Hinckley dropped the first set of teasers, there were questions about whether the Tiger 1200 will received the same innovative T-plane crank as the Tiger 900.

However, the latest teaser by Triumph has confirmed that the Tiger 1200 will feature the new innovative T-plane crank, which will take the newest adventure bike to greater heights.

The T-plane crank improves power delivery at low and high rpm making which helps to propel the Tiger 900 as a leading middleweight adventure bike.

While the full details of the new engine are still unknown, including the specs, it is safe to assume that the Tiger 1200 with its T-plane crank is something to look forward to.

“The new Tiger 1200 official prototype testing showcases Triumph’s signature T-Plane triple advantage for the first time in the large capacity adventure world.

“Delivering more power and character than its closest competition, the only other shaft-driven bike in the class, the new 1200 engine brings all of the low-down torque delivery of a twin, married to the top-end punch and an incredible soundtrack that only the Triumph triple delivers.

“The new T-Plane triple is beautifully smooth and refined, with incredible response and tractability, equally perfect for kicking up the dirt, sweeping through the corners, or crossing continents in style,” said Triumph in a statement.

After teasing us with the Speed Triple 1200 RR Prototype and the Tiger Sport 660, the lads at Hinckley decided to drop a set of photos on the new Tiger 1200 prototype.

Triumph Motorcycles has been making serious waves in the industry ever since they launched the Tiger 900 range in 2019.

Words of mouth were quick to suggest that the next obvious move is to introduce an all-new Tiger 1200; however, the British marquee decided to focus on the middleweight segment, with the Trident 660.

Nonetheless, waiting is over as Triumph Motorcycles has provided a clear look into the upcoming Tiger 1200.

Clad in a camo overall, the Tiger 1200 looks more aggressive than its 900 range, especially with a broader front fascia and bigger LED headlamp.

However, it remains to be seen whether 1200 will feature the new Euro 5 T-plane engine configuration like the Tiger 900.

The T-Plane engine provides an uneven firing order, resulting in a more efficient drive at low rpm and extra push at high rpm, which makes the 900 the best adventure motorcycle that you can enjoy on and off-road.

We like the new Tiger 1200’s slimmer and minimalistic bodywork compared to another manufacturer – which we can’t mention who, but they do speak Germans.

Triumph also confirmed that the new adventure motorcycle is significantly lighter than its closes competition.

We have to wait for its official unveiling for further confirmation, which we think will happen anytime soon.
