Ténéré 700

In a celebration befitting Malaysia Day 2023, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) unveiled its Yamaha GEN BLU Carnival at Stadium Likas, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, marking a historic first for this annual extravaganza as it made its debut in East Malaysia.

  • the 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 made special appearance at the Yamaha Gen Blu Carnival.
  • the Yamaha Gen Blu Carnival was held for the first time at Kota Kinabalu.

The focal point of this year’s carnival was an exclusive preview of the highly anticipated Yamaha Tenere 700 adventure motorcycle. Scheduled for an official launch at the end of this year, this new addition to the Yamaha lineup marks HLYM’s first foray into the realm of on-and-off-road adventure biking.

The heart of the Tenere 700 is a liquid-cooled 689cc CP2 engine, featuring a 270° crankshaft, all nestled within a lightweight frame. Offering versatility on the road and beyond, the bike also boasts switchable ABS functionality, allowing riders to adapt to various terrains with ease. A user-friendly five-inch TFT color meter with two graphic themes enhances the rider’s experience. The Tenere 700 has been a source of great anticipation among Yamaha enthusiasts since its successful European launch.

Yamaha enthusiasts and the broader biking community can now mark their calendars as the Tenere 700 are now available for booking at a recommended selling price of RM69,988 (excluding registration fees and insurance coverage).

Beyond the bike, the GEN BLU Carnival is HLYM’s way of expressing gratitude towards its valued customers and industry partners. The event underscores HLYM’s commitment to enriching the lives of its customers, a mission deeply rooted in its 1C5S philosophy (Customer-first, Sales, Service, Spare parts, Society, and Safety), which places customer-centricity and an elevated user experience at its core.

Throughout the day, the carnival offered visitors a chance to explore HLYM’s diverse lifestyle offerings, complete with entertaining activities, exclusive promotions, and the chance to win attractive prizes.

The grand opening of this year’s GEN BLU Carnival was graced by the presence of Hong Leong Industries Group Managing Director, Professor Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor Mun Wei, alongside HLYM Director, Mr. Taketoshi Takabayashi; HLYM General Manager of 3S and Marketing, Mr. Hoo Wan Tim, and HLYM General Manager of YGP Spare Parts, Mr. Goh Wei Ping.

In a show of dedication, 60 intrepid riders embarked on a remarkable 1,200-kilometer, three-day, two-night journey from Kuching, Sarawak, to reach the event in Kota Kinabalu, passing through Brunei along the way.

Joining them were esteemed members of the media, Dewi Yamaha ambassador Ahirine Ahirudin, Yamaha authorized dealers, and loyal Yamaha customers. The celebration also paid tribute to Sabah’s rich culture and heritage with a captivating Kadazan cultural performance during the launch event.

  • kerangka double-cradle tubular steel
  • fork depan jenis upside/down 43mm boleh laras
  • suspensi belakang boleh laras
  • rim 21-inci depan dan 18-inci belakang
  • tangki 16L

Untuk rekod, Yamaha Tenere 700 dikuasakan enjin 689cc CP2 dengan ‘270-degree crank’ yang menawarkan  72.3hp pada 8,750rpm dan 67Nm pada 6,500rpm.

Yamaha Europe has just announced the release of a new version of their popular adventure tourer motorcycle – the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition.

  • The Tenere 700 Extreme Edition is heavily inspired by the Tenere 700 World Raid.
  • Powering the Tenere 700 Exterem Edition is the same 689cc liquid-cooled, inline twin-cylinder engine.

The new variant of the motorcycle is more off-road-ready than its predecessor, with changes to the chassis and suspension, among other features.

While the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition shares many mechanical components with the previous model, updates to the chassis and suspension have been made to improve off-road capabilities.

The motorcycle now has fully adjustable KYB 43mm forks that provide an additional 20mm of travel, bringing the total to 230mm at the front. The rear shock has also been upgraded, with a 20mm increase in travel bringing it to 220mm.

Additionally, the overall height of the bike has been raised by 20mm to provide a total ground clearance of 260mm.

Other new features of the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition include adjustable off-road titanium footpegs with bear trap grips, a high enduro-style mudguard, a radiator protector, and a single, enduro-style seat with 20mm more padding than the standard version.

However, the changes to the suspension and seat height bring the seat height to a towering 910mm.

That said, the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition takes inspiration from the Yamaha World Raid model while adding its own accessories.

Like us, you probably have the same fondness towards iconic retro machines.

  • Unit Garage introduced new classic kit for Yamaha’s Tenere 700.
  • The custom kit takes inspiration from the iconic 1986 Yamaha Tenere XT 600.

The same reason why some manufacturers are going down memory lane seeking design inspiration for modern machines.

Ducati took the same path recently by introducing the DesertX, which is inspired by the classic Cagiva Elefant motorcycle competing at the 80s and 90s Paris-Dakar Rally.

As a result, the DesertX quickly established its popularity, especially among adventure-seeking riders.

However, if you’re also into off-roading and, by chance, own the Yamaha Tenere 700, you too can own a motorcycle inspired by classic retro machines, particularly the 1986 Yamaha Tenere 600 XT.

Thanks to the Italian company, Unit Garage, Tenere 700 owners can now convert their bikes to look like the Tenere XT 600.

The custom kit includes the iconic Yamaha blue design, beaked front fender, retro round LED lights, headlight screens and an aluminium skid plate.

The conversion kit is also available in black and a no-paint colour scheme.

Interestingly, the kit can be mounted directly onto the factory mounts of the Tenere 700, making it easier to install.

According to the information available on the company’s website, the classic kit is available from GBP1233.80 (RM6,500).

Yamaha has updated its popular middleweight adventure motorcycle, the Tenere 700and Tenere 700 Rally Edition for 2023.

  • The 2023 Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 Rally Edition features a new dash and electronic package.
  • The Tenere 700 is powered by Yamaha’s high-torque CP2 engine.

The Tenere 700 has continued to be a hit among adventure riders since its introduction in 2019, with the bike’s success contributed by its off-road capability as well as excellent value for money compared to the rest of its competitors.

What’s new?

Riders will appreciate the new instrumentation that comes in the form of a 5-inch TFT colour display replacing the outdated LCD digital dash.

The new dash also features smartphone connectivity that can be connected to a smartphone which feeds incoming calls, emails and text messages.

The new display also allows riders to link it to the Yamaha My Ride app.

Other notable updates include pre-wiring for a quickshifiter, USB port, redesigned brake lever and LED turn signal.

Electronically, the 2023 Tenere 700 gets new and improved three switchable ABS modes; ON, OFF and REAR OFF.

Other features available on the 2023 Tenere 700 and 700 Rally Edition include:

  • lightweight double-cradle tubular steel frame
  • adjustable 43mm upside-down forks
  • remotely adjustable rear suspension
  • 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel
  • 16L fuel tank
  • handguards

Powering the 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 Rally Edition is the high torque 690cc 4-stroke, CP2 Euro5-compliant engine that puts out 72.3hp @ 8,750rpm and 67Nm @ 6,500rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheel via a 6-speed manual transmission with a final chain drive.

Meanwhile, the Rally Edition is fitted with a dedicated rally seat, radiator protector and Akrapovic slip-on muffler as standard.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) recently launched the 2022 Yamaha TMax Tech Max maxi-scooter for the local market with a recommended selling price of RM74,998.

  • The Yamaha Tenere 700 could finally be introduced to the Malaysian market.
  • There is a considerable demand for middleweight adventure motorcycles in the country.

During the launch, HLYM also revealed their plans to introduce more big-capacity motorcycles in 2023.

While the exact models are not disclosed, an unnamed source told Paultan.org that HLYM realized that there is a surge in demand for an off-road capable motorcycle in the country.

That said, it could be a strong indicator that the Yamaha Tenere 700 could finally make its way to Malaysia soon.

Powering the Tenere 700 is Yamaha’s CP2 689cc parallel-twin engine, capable of producing 74hp and 67Nm.

Earlier this year, Yamaha updated the Tenere 700 range with a World Raid variant, carrying a massive upgrade, including a 23L twin-tank that can take the bike up to 470km of range.

Although there is no official confirmation regarding the Malaysian launch just yet, but reports suggest that it is highly likely that the Tenere 700 will soon find its way to our shores.

We expect that the Tenere 700 could price around the RM50k mark as the motorcycle is currently on sale in the Philippines and Thailand at RM51,900 and RM58,300, respectively.

The middleweight adventure bike was again the talk of the town as five of the overall top 20 finishers at the recently concluded Rimba Raid 2022 were riding onboard the Tenere 700.

Sources indicate that a larger and peppier Yamaha Ténéré 900 is already in advanced development stages.

  • ekzos titanium Akrapovic
  • ECU GYTR
  • kotak dan penapis udara berprestasi tinggi
  • sproket 48
  • radiator yang lebih besar
  • penutup pam air baharu
  • klac heavy duty Rekluse
  • lever klac baharu

  • The price of the 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 has been revealed in the US.

  • It’s the lowest priced middleweight dual-purpose bike of the lot.

  • Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has not confirmed whether they’ll release the bike in Malaysia.

The price of the 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 has been revealed in the US and will turn the middleweight adventure motorcycle market on its head.

The concept bike was revealed back in EICMA 2018, but the production-ready model was later shown at EICMA 2019. But we Malaysians were luckier as the bike was actually shown at Yamaha’s booth at MotoGP.

Based on the MT-07 standard bike, the Ténéré 700 promises to be a lightweight truly off-road capable bike. That torque from the 270-degree crank parallel-twin engine will do nicely, too. It’ll be a great departure from the current XTZ1200 Super Ténéré which is on the heavy side.

But the production-ready model looked even better than the concept, especially with those 4 LED headlamps tucked behind the windscreen. That and the tall front end of the bike gives the bike a Dakar Rally presence, no doubt inspired by the original Super Ténéré 750.

What’s the price then? USD 9,999 – RM 41,785.82 at today’s rate.

While the bike was displayed in Malaysia, Hong Leong Yamaha (HLYM) remains tightlipped about whether it’ll be released in Malaysia. Before you criticize them, HLYM prefers to train their dealers, the dealers’ mechanics, shore up spare parts, amongst others before bringing in a model to the country. Don’t forget also that HLYM assembles the bikes and they need time to set up the production line in terms of logistics and worker knowledge.

Still, we are quite certain that there are many waiting for this bike.
