As the summer of 2023 heats up, the motorcycle industry is abuzz with anticipation. Moto Guzzi and Aprilia, prominent members of the Piaggio Group, are gearing up to make significant announcements in the coming months.

  • Aprilia is making significant progress in introducing the RS440.
  • Seen in the photos is also the upcoming Moto Guzzi Stelvio.

Rumours have been circulating about the revival of the Moto Guzzi Stelvio since the end of June, with sources suggesting a release before the year’s end, possibly even at the EICMA event in November. On the Aprilia front, the RS 440 has been generating excitement for several months, and the Piaggio Group further stoked the flames earlier this year by discussing their development plans for a 400-450cc Aprilia sportbike.

Now, in July 2023, we have tangible evidence of the Aprilia RS 440 in action, thanks to a series of spy photos. Interestingly, accompanying the RS 440 in these images is another camouflaged Piaggio Group motorcycle, likely to be the new Moto Guzzi Stelvio, based on the V100 Mandello platform. It seems these two models are keeping each other company during testing.

The styling of the alleged Aprilia RS 440 is strikingly similar to its sibling, the Aprilia RS 660. In fact, the manufacturer went to great lengths to conceal the true identity of the RS 440, employing clever graphics decals to make it appear as an RS 660.

However, upon closer inspection, it becomes evident that the RS 440 features a single brake calliper and disc at the front, unlike the RS 660. While no official specifications have been released for the RS 440, it is highly plausible, if not likely, that this cost-conscious model will come equipped with a single front brake setup.

With these spy shots circulating, motorcycle enthusiasts eagerly await an official announcement from Aprilia regarding the RS 440.

Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Moto Guzzi, is making waves in the industry with the recent global launch of its V100 Mandello.

  • Moto Guzzi hinted the revival of the iconic Stelvio back in 2022.
  • The next-gen adventure bike to feature the same 1042cc engien taken from the V100 Mandello.

Known for their distinctive charm and retro designs, Moto Guzzi has taken a step towards modernity with the technologically advanced V100 Mandello, equipped with high-tech components and a powerful 1,042cc engine.

Building on this success, Moto Guzzi has hinted at the revival of their beloved Stelvio adventure bike at the EICMA 2022 event. The company showcased a teaser display featuring the word “Stelvio” alongside an eagle flying across the iconic Stelvio Pass. Originally discontinued due to lackluster sales, Moto Guzzi’s decision to resurrect the Stelvio reflects the growing demand for liter-class adventure bikes.

Spy shots shared on Facebook offer a glimpse of the upcoming Stelvio, revealing its close resemblance to the V100 Mandello. The revamped Stelvio incorporates several modifications to enhance its off-road capabilities, including wire-spoke wheels with dual-purpose tires, long-travel suspension, an adjustable windscreen, and hand guards.

Notably, the new Stelvio is poised to be Moto Guzzi’s most technologically advanced model to date. Sources suggest it may feature radar-powered cruise control, IMU-powered traction control, ABS, multiple ride modes, and potentially even electronically adjustable suspension.

While Moto Guzzi remains tight-lipped about specific details, insiders speculate that the Stelvio will make its highly anticipated debut at EICMA 2023. Adventure motorcycle enthusiasts eagerly await further updates from the iconic Italian brand.

For those who able to make it to EICMA last month, chances are you might’ve visited Moto Guzzi’s booth exhibition booth.

  • Moto Guzzi confirms the Stelvio to make a comeback.
  • The Stelvio adventure motorcycle is likely to feature the same powertrain as the newly launched V100 Mandello.

If you did, it is likely that you also came across the Italian brand latest teaser that confirms that return of the Stelvio adventure motorcycle.

The Moto Guzzi Stelvio was an adventure-touring type motorcycle that was in production for eight years, running from 2007 to 2016.

Despite proving itself as a capable ADV machine, the Stelvio was going up against a stronger foe at the time including the BMW R 1200 GS and KTM 1190 Adventure.

As a result, Guzzi pulled the Stelvio out of production in 2016 due to lacklustre in sales. Moreover, Europe’s transition to Euro 4 didn’t help the motorcycle to remain relevant at the time.

However, it looks like Moto Guzzi is ready to revive the Stelvio soon as confirmed by a teaser at EICMA.

The special teaser showcased the Stelvio nameplate that sits above a set of wire-spoke wheels.

While Moto Guzzi is keeping a tight lipped over the Stelvio’s comeback, ongoing report suggest that the adventure bike will be equipped with the same mill found in the all-new V100 Mandello sport tourer motorcycle.

That said, the Stelvio is likely to feature a revised 1,042cc transverse V-Twin engine taken from the V100 Mandello. At present, the engine makes 115hp and 105Nm.

Currently, there’s no word regarding the bike’s development and Moto Guzzi has been eerily quiet about the Stelvio following its teaser in Milan. All we can do now is speculate until there is an official word coming from the Mandello del Lario factory.
