  • Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd has launched two new variants of Shell Advance AX7 semi-synthetic motorcycle engine oil.

  • They are the Shell Advance AX7 10W-30 and Shell Advance AX7 15W-50.

  • Both are priced at RM 33.90 for a 1-litre pack.

Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd has launched two new variants of Shell Advance AX7 semi-synthetic motorcycle engine oil.

The new Shell Advance AX7 10W-30 and 15W-50 are both priced at RM33.90 per 1-litre pack (recommended retail price) and complement the existing Shell Advance AX7 10W-40.

According to Shell Lubricants Marketing General Manager May Tan, the popular Shell Advance AX7 now offers three viscosity grades (in addition to the Shell Advance AX7 10W-40).

“This enables motorcyclists to choose a premium semi-synthetic engine oil from Shell Advance that best suits their riding needs,” she said.

All three grades feature Shell’s proprietary Active Cleansing Technology that provides complete protection for your bike. The benefits include:

  • 33% cleaner engine;
  • 29% better protection at high temperatures;
  • 3 km further in travel distance per litre of fuel;
  • 36% better wear protection against industry limit; and
  • No power loss even after 12,000 km of travel.

The new, thicker Shell Advance AX7 15W-50 promises smoother power delivery and better protection for engines that run for long periods under high stress conditions.

The new and thinner viscosity Shell Advance AX7 10W-30 provides excellent engine protection and offers better fuel economy, enabling your motorcycle to go for up to 3 km further compared to mineral oils.

The existing Shell Advance AX7 10W-40 has a well-balanced formulation that meets the needs of almost all types of motorcycles in daily riding conditions. It is ideal in providing the necessary protection for frequent stop-and-go traffic conditions.

However, it is advised that consumers follow OEM recommendations on the viscosity grade and quality rating of engine oils, as stated in the respective owner’s manual for optimal performance.

The new products are blended and packed in Malaysia and come with ‘Made for Malaysia’ front labels that identify them as genuine Shell Advance products meant for sale in Malaysia.

The new front label can be peeled to reveal a unique QR code for quick product authentication, while the label at the back features product information in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

“This is part of a strategic investment by Shell Malaysia to protect the interests of both motorcyclists and trade partners by enabling them to clearly identify official and genuine products. The presence of counterfeit and unauthorised products in the market is affecting customer confidence. The on-going introduction of the new ‘Made for Malaysia’ Shell Advance range is a key step to address this issue,” added Tan.

For information on the new Shell Advance AX7, visit www.shell.com.my/advance or call the Shell Customer Service Hotline at 1300 88 1808.

  • Shell Malaysia continues its annual 1-sen-per litre contribution to various causes for the fifth consecutive year.

  • The campaign incorporates spending at Shell SELECT to provide motorists more opportunities to contribute during their ‘balik kampung’ journeys.

  • Collection days increased from previous years.

Shell marks its Raya CSR Campaign for the fifth consecutive year, making the ‘balik kampung’ experience for fellow motorists more meaningful by spreading the spirit of caring and sharing during the blessed Raya festivities with its 2019 ‘Anda Beli, Kami Derma’ campaign.

Extending the duration from previous years, this year’s collection runs for 10 days, from       30 May 2019 to 8 June 2019, and contributions will be donated to National Cancer Society Malaysia, Food Aid Foundation and Malaysian Nature Society. During this period, every one litre of Shell fuels pumped will see the company donating 1 sen (RM0.01) to these selected organisations. On top of every 1-sen-per-litre, Shell will also donate 1 sen for every 1 Ringgit (RM1.00) spent in all Shell SELECT stores (excluding E-Pay products i.e. mobile reloads, Touch N Go purchases and other In-Store services i.e. utility payments).

“The ‘balik kampung’ experience is a meaningful journey for everyone. It’s about loved ones coming together, safely, to celebrate the festivities. This year, we decided to add to the ‘balik kampung’ journey by spreading a little more cheer to those in need. That is why to mark our fifth year of running this campaign, we have increased our collection timeline to 10 days and incorporated spending at Shell SELECT to give our customers more opportunities to contribute to organisations in need. We have also chosen relevant causes that we believe are close to the heart of Malaysians, in line with our efforts to make life’s journeys better for communities in which we operate,” shared Shairan Huzani Husain, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd. and Shell Timur Sdn. Bhd.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail commended Shell’s campaign, “With simple acts of kindness, we can go a long way in doing our part during this giving season of Ramadan and Raya. I would like to commend Shell for working to make giving back so seamless and flexible. Customers will now be able to easily share their blessings with those in need and give everyone a ‘balik kampung’ journey worth celebrating even more.”

Mastercard, joining in as a valued partner for the second consecutive year, will also be making additional contributions to the campaign. For every litre of Shell fuels pumped and every RM1 spent at Shell SELECT, paid with any Mastercard credit or debit card, an additional 1 sen will be contributed to the Food Aid Foundation.

“Mastercard is honoured to continue the collaboration with Shell to encourage cardholders to contribute to a worthwhile cause each time they spend using their Mastercard card at Shell stations nationwide. The funds raised will go towards the provision of meals for children in need, especially during the Hari Raya festivities. This initiative aligns with both Mastercard’s philosophy of ‘doing well by doing good’, as well as efforts to increase e-payments usage for everyday transactions. Mastercard cardholders can create a positive impact in the community while enjoying the benefits of a safe, swift and convenient payments experience,” said Perry Ong, Country Manager of Malaysia and Brunei, Mastercard.

With its 2019 ‘Anda Beli, Kami Derma’ campaign, Shell is giving motorists who pump at Shell or spend at Shell SELECT the option to choose the cause they believe in and influence contribution to their organisation of choice.

To select their preferred choice of beneficiaries, customers must submit either the original or duplicate copy of their receipt at a Shell station and indicate their choice.

Every contribution matters. Motorists are invited to take part in this initiative beginning Thursday, 30 May 2019 until Saturday, 8 June 2019 by simply fuelling up at any Shell station nationwide or purchasing selected items at Shell SELECT stores. Be sure to mark these dates in your calendar to show your support for these communities in need.

  • Shell Malaysia launched a new fuel storage tank and additional loading bay.

  • The move allows Shell Malaysia to meet the rising demand for Shell fuels in the Central region.

  • The tank has a 10 million litre capacity while the arms dispense 1,800 litres of fuel per minute.

Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd. officially launched a new cutting-edge fuel storage tank and an additional loading bay at Westports, Port Klang. The expansion boosts Shell Malaysia’s capability in meeting the growing demand for Shell fuels in the Central region of Peninsular Malaysia.

The new tank, the tenth such facility owned by Shell at the terminal, was constructed under Phase 4 of the Shell Westports Terminal Expansion Plan. It was officially launched by Datuk Iain Lo, Chairman of Shell Malaysia and Datuk Ruben Emir Gnanalingam, Group Managing Director of Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

In addition to the new 10 million-litre storage tank, the expansion plan also included a new loading bay with six loading arms configured to dispense three key Shell fuel products – Fuelsave 95, V-Power 97 and Fuelsave Euro 5 Diesel – at a rate of 1,800 litres a minute. This increases the efficiency of loading processes for road tankers. The tankers now can be fully loaded in just 25 minutes, which significantly reduces the congestion at the Klang Valley Distribution Terminal (KVDT).

(L-R) Suresh Nair, Eddie Lee, Shairan Huzaini Husain, Datuk Iain Lo, Datuk Ruben Gnanalingam, Kevin Ranatunga launch Shell storage tank

“I am happy to announce that this new storage facility at Westport will enable Shell to meet the increasing demands for its products in Klang Valley. The efficient new facilities will enhance Shell’s competitiveness and ensure Shell’s ability to meet all customer needs,” said Datuk Iain Lo.

He also added that Shell has been fuelling Malaysia’s progress for the past 128 years and will continue to invest in strengthening its presence in the country by offering not just top-quality products, but also efficient services that meet the needs of consumers and businesses.

The storage tank is constructed using the innovative jack-up method instead of the traditional bottom-up process. Here, the top section of the tank including the roof is constructed first before being lifted with hydraulics, which enables the lower sections to be assembled. This minimises the use of scaffoldings, the need for workers to work at height and enabled construction to proceed safely and get completed ahead of schedule, despite space restrictions and ongoing activities in the vicinity.

The successful completion of Phase 4 of the Shell Westports Terminal Expansion Plan was a strong testament to the close co-operation and high safety standards adopted by the teams from Shell Malaysia, Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the project consultants and contractors.

Shairan Huzani Husain said, “It’s not easy to convince people the petroleum companies actually care about the environment.” But Shell Malaysia is now the first petroleum company to have certified “green retail fuel stations” not only in Malaysia, but in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

To Shell, it is their responsibility to care for the wellbeing of the planet, while supplying energy resources to consumers. Truth is, Shell not only researches on better fossil fuels and other petroleum products, but also energy solutions for the future including electric vehicles.

Shairan Huzani Husain, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd.

As such, Shell Malaysia embarked on a quest to turn their retail stations into environmentally-friendly those with “Green Building Index (GBI)” certification. Two stations have been awarded as such, one in Damansara Jaya and another in Taman Connaught.

En. Shairan further added that Shell Malaysia will reduce the carbon footprint of their stations by 50% cum 2025.

Highlights of GBI certified buildings:

  • Solar Photo Voltaic panels installed on the station’s canopy to generate electricity during daytime. The clean electricity obtained will supplement the station’s energy requirements such as running the air-conditioning, lighting, fuel pumps and so forth.

  • Adjustments to reduce energy consumption. Such as painting the surfaces of roofs and walls white to reflect solar radiation to reduce interior temperature during the daytime.
  • Use of Energy Monitoring System (EMS). It allows the station to monitor electricity and water consumption. The station’s crew can react quickly to abnormal consumption.

  • Waterless urinals and water saving taps replace conventional bathroom fittings. Water usage was reduced by up to 60%. It equals saving up to 600,000 litres per year, per station.
  • LED lighting with lower power consumption and longer lifespans.
  • Carpool and green vehicle parking bays to encourage their use.
  • Strategically placed electronic display board at shop’s entrance which provides detailed information on the station’s energy and water consumption, temperature and carbon intensity reduction.
