Scrambler

The 2022 Ducati Malaysia Premier also witnessed the launch of two newest addition from the Land of Joy, the Scrambler 1100 Tribute PRO and the Scrambler Urban Motard.

  • the Ducati Scrambler 110 Tribute PRO pays homage to the brand first twin-cylinder engine.
  • the Scrambler Urban Motard is heavily inspired by the previous generation Urban Enduro but offers rebellious features.

The two models represent a different approach, with the Tribute PRO pays homage to Ducati’s first twin-cylinder engine while the Urban Motard offers a younger expression.

The Scrambler 1100 Tribute Pro took us back to the first twin-cylinder Ducati to go on sale in 1971.

Clad in a unique ‘Giallo Ocra’ yellow, the Tribute PRO also features the Giugiaro-penned Ducati logo that elevates the classic element of Ducati’s historical era.

Meanwhile, underneath the black trellis frame sits a 1,079cc L-Twin with Desmodromic Distribution, air-cooled engine capable of pumping 86hp @ 7,500rpm and 88Nm @ 4,750rpm.

It also features the PRO riding modes and Ducati Traction Control.

On the other hand, the Ducati Scrambler Urban Motard offers refreshing and more rebellious features.

Dressed in a red and white livery, the Urban Motard is a mixture of the Nightshift and the Desert Sled models with a side-mounted number plate, flat seat and a front beak.

The Urban Motard is powered by an 803cc L-Twin capable of producing 73hp @ 8,250rm and 66.2Nm @ 5,750rpm.

Other features include:

  • tubular steel trellis frame
  • 41mm Kayaba USD fork
  • Kayaba rear shock (pre-load adjustable)
  • spoke aluminium wheels
  • 330mm front disc with radial 4-piston callipers
  • 245mm rear disc with 1-piston callipers
  • BOSCH Cornering ABS
  • LCD display

According to Ducati Malaysia, the Scrambler 1100 Tribute PRO and Scrambler Urban Motard is priced at RM85,900 and RM68,900 respectively.

Renewed reports plus earlier filed patents indicates that a new Honda CL500 Scrambler model is happening soon enough.

A few weeks ago, a Japanese publication, Autoby claimed that Honda plans to expand the 250 and 500cc range with an all-new scrambler-style motorcycle.

Japanese render artist Shinji Miyakubo also recently created a CG render of the CL250 and CL500.

However, in the latest report by another Japanese publication Young-Machine, patent drawings from 2018 could relate to Honda’s anticipated CL500 Scrambler.

Using Honda’s design concept all these years, YM has created their version of the rumoured CL500.

YM suggest that the CL500 will maintain most of the components from the CL250, particularly the brakes and suspension. However, the frame will be adjusted to accommodate the larger displacement engine similar to the Rebel 500.

In fact, the patent drawings showcased a similar resemblance with the Rebel.

The patent drawings also show a flat saddle, square fuel tank and a conventional shape exhaust compared to Miyakubo-san’s high-mounted twin pipe.

Meanwhile, it is safe to assume that the CL500 will carry the same 471cc DOHC parallel-twin engine that makes 46.9hp @ 8,500rpm and 43Nm @ 7,000rpm.

At the moment, there are absolutely zero words coming from the Japanese firm regarding the rumoured scrambler range; however, when YM is on to something, those rumours tend to carry something tangible.

Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, Voge, has expanded its 300cc single-cylinder range with the 300 ACX, a scrambler-type motorcycle.

Despite sharing the same chassis and engine as its sibling (300 AC), the 300 ACX features a higher ground clearance thanks to a longer travel suspension, wire-spoke wheels, and knobby tires.

Other exciting features include:

  • full-LED headlight
  • digital display
  • Bosch ABS
  • dual-disc (front)
  • single-disc (rear)
  • USB port
  • one-piece seat with stitching
  • 798mm seat height
  • 110/70-17 front tire
  • 150/60-17 rear tire

Nonetheless, the Voge 300 ACX continues to draw its power from the same Euro 5 292cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine capable of producing 26hp @ 8,500rpm and 23.2Nm @ 6,500rpm.

The Voge 300 ACX is available in Europe for EUR4,195 (RM20.8k).

  • Triumph has released another 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 teaser video.

  • It shows the bike being ridden on the road and off-road.

  • The launch happens on 24th October 2018 (UK time).

The countdown has begun to the launch of the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200.

Triumph Motorcycles has also released another teaser video, the fifth and perhaps the last, ahead of the grand event.

This latest video also showcases the versatility of the new bike. There are shots of it being ridden two-up on a tarmac road besides being pushed hard off-road.

Triumph was one of the leaders of off-road racing in the 60’s. The new Scrambler 1200 would return it to its off-road legacy with the promise of “never before seen levels of dual-purpose capability.” Indeed, the video shows the 1200 scrambling in the dirt; with the dust hiding the bike, of course.

Piecing together all the teaser videos revealed a little bit more about the bike. It will definitely feature the classic Triumph Bonneville silhouette, straight handlebar, flat saddle and high-mounted dual exhausts. It will be similar to its smaller 900cc Street Scrambler, but we are sure there will be many other differences to make it off-road worthy.

The Scrambler 1200 may even come ready with an underbelly skid plate and knobby tyres.

Its engine should very well be based on the High Torque (HT) version of the 1200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-Twin with 270o crank.

We could also very well expect traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, ABS and LED lighting. The suspension will definitely be updated.

The launch is happening on early morning, 25th October 2018 (Malaysian time). Bikes Republic hopes to bring you the event “live.” If you can stay up for the English Premier League, you ought to stay up for the launch, too.
