Royal Enfield recently recorded a staggering 145 per cent worldwide sales increase in September 2022 compared to the same period last year.

  • Royal Enfield sold more than 80,000 motorcycles in September 2022.
  • India remain as the biggest market for Royal Enfield.

That’s certainly a significant boost to the Indian motorcycle company, especially as we are nearing the end of the year.

However, if you ever wonder what could be the major contributor behind those high numbers, look no further ahead than the company’s Hunter 350. 

According to the firm’s sales report, Royal Enfield sold 18,197 units of the Hunter 350 in August and 17,118 units the following month in September. 

To put it in perspective, the Hunter 350 outsold Honda’s H’ness 350 by a considerable margin, with the latter recording just 3,980 units in September.

Despite the H’ness 350 being launched in India some time ago, the Hunter 350 garnered higher demand in a shorter period.

Several factors are in play, including how the Hunter 350 is priced lower than the H’ness 350. Also, since the H’ness 350 are only available in India and Japan, it is to be expected that the numbers will be lower. 

Nonetheless, it also indicates an upward trend for Royal Enfield’s bike in the global market, especially for the Hunter 350. 

Selaras dengan usaha mengukuhkan jenama di Malaysia di bawah pengendalian Didi Group, Royal Enfield kini membuka kedai perdana (flagship store) serba baharu di Gasket Alley.

Kedai eksklusif itu kini menjadi kedai perdana Royal Enfield di Malaysia.

Menurut Didi Group, kedai perdana itu bakal menawarkan akses lebih baik kepada peminat Royal Enfield yang turut merangkumi servis dan jualan.

Selain daripada pelancaran kedai perdana terbaru itu, Royal Enfield turut memperkenalkan Royal Enfield Classic 350 dan Meteor 350 serba baharu untuk pasaran tempatan.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 dan Meteor 350 dikuasakan enjin 349cc yang menjana 20.2hp pada 6,500rpm dan 27Nm pada 4,000rpm. Kuasa enjin kemudiannya disalurkan ke tayar belakang menerusi transmisi 5-kelajuan.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 dan Meteor 350 masing-masing ditawarkan pada harga RM23,500 dan RM24,300.

Sementara itu, Royal Enfield turut mengemas kini senarai harga bagi beberapa model lain:

  • Royal Enfield Himalayan – RM29,500
  • Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 – RM29,500
  • Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 – RM33,100

Royal Enfield telah pun memperkenalkan ahli baharu dalam keluarga Himalayan menerusi Scram 411.

Royal Enfield Scram 411 ini lahir daripada Himalayan 411 dan hasilnya, model ini juga dikuasakan enjin 411cc SOHC dengan penyejukan udara yang menghasilkan 24.3hp pada 6,500rpm dan 32Nm pada 6,500rpm.

Kuasa pula disalurkan kepada tayar belakang menerusi transmisi 5-kelajuan.

Sistem suspensi pula hadir menerusi fork depan teleskopik 41mm dengan jarak pergerakan 190mm sementara monoshock belakang pula tawar pergerakan 180mm.

Spesifikasi tersebut adalah sama seperti yang terdapat pada Himalayan 411 2022.

Meskipun Scram 411 menawarkan ciri motosikal urban namun komponen brek juga sama seperti Himalayan 411, dengan kaliper brek dua-piston di depan dipadankan bersama cakera brek 300mm dan kaliper satu piston belakang dengan cakera brek 240mm.

Kawalan brek juga diselia dengan bantuan ABS dwi-saluran.

Pada masa sama, Scram 411 ini juga masih lagi didatangkan dengan rim jenis ‘wire spoke’ sama seperti Himalayan 411 sekaligus model baharu ini masih lagi boleh ditunggang di permukaan lasak.

Sementara itu, penghadang angin tinggi pada Himalayan 411 tidak lagi kelihatan sebaliknya Scram 411 ini dapat pelindung lampu depan berbentuk bulat.

Road-biased Himalayan Scram 411 is set to be unveiled on March 15 2022 as announced by the Indian firm via its social media platform.

The Himalayan Scram 411 is a continuity of the capable Himalayan adventure motorcycle but with increased usability in an urban environment.

 Despite the Scram 411 retaining a similar silhouette of the Himalayan, the motorcycle missed out on the tall windscreen, handguards, raised front fender and dedicated rear and front luggage racks.

Other fundamental changes include a 19-inch front wheel in place of the off-road friendly 21-inch on the Himalayan.

While the Scram 411 is closer to the ground at 200mm – 220mm on the Himalayan, it features spoke-wheels and a dual-purpose tyre.

Other significant features include cast metal headlamp cowl, offset speedometer, urban badge plate with Royal Enfield branding and single-piece saddle.

Nevertheless, the Scram 411 continue to run on the same 411cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that generates a humble 24.3hp @ 6,500rpm and 32Nm @ 4000-4,500rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheel via a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.

  • The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 were launched last night.

  • Both bikes share the same engine, chassis and running stock but with different styling.

  • The Interceptor 650 is priced from RM 45,900 while the Continental GT 650 is priced from RM 48,500.

Royal Enfield has always been known as the manufacturer who produces single-cylinder thumpers. However, the launch of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 last night takes them up the capacity game.

Both models are powered by the same 648cc, air- and oil-cooled, DOHC, fuel-injected, parallel-Twin engine. It produces 47 hp at 7,250 RPM and a respectable 52 Nm of torque at 5,250 RPM. Producing maximum at lower RPMs means the engine requires the rider to ride at ease and ride the torque wave, rather than having to rev the lungs out of it. Apart from that, the 2,000 RPM separation between maximum horsepower and torque provides a “flexible” engine thereby giving the rider and impression of having power anywhere in the rev range.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

The two models are differentiated by their respective styling. The Interceptor 650 is positioned as “standard” motorcycle. Consequently, it features a higher handlebar and flat seat for a more relaxed riding ergonomics. It also has a bigger fuel tank at 13.7 litres.

The Continental GT 650 takes on the café racer role, on the other hand. Hence, it features clip-on handlebars mounted beneath the top triple clamp, besides a subtly stepped seat. The combination provides a sportier riding position. The fuel tank is smaller at 12.5 litres.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

Both models also share the same chassis and rolling stock. The forks are 41 mm conventional telescopic units, while the twin rear shocks have remote reservoirs. Both front and rear wheels are spoked 18-inchers. Braking duty is handled by ByBre calipers.

The Interceptor 650 is priced from RM 45,900 while the Continental GT 650 is priced from RM 48,500 (basic selling prices excluding road tax and registration).

  • Royal Enfield are opening a CKD plant in Thailand in June 2019.

  • They plan to supply the Thai market directly.

  • RE received more than 700 orders for the new Interceptor 650 and Continental 650 GT in the country alone.

Royal Enfield announced that they will open a CKD plant in Thailand in June this year.

The plan means the brand has somewhat come full circle since Thailand was one of the first Southeast Asian market that they penetrated. The Kingdom was also amongst the first global market to receive the Interceptor 650 and Continental 650 GT.

Royal Enfield (RE) claimed that they haves received over 700 bookings in the country itself for the two models since their launch last year. 100 have been delivered to date.

The manufacturer hopes to further expand their reach and support in the country. Besides the factory, they are also aiming to set up 15 dealerships and 25 service centres by March 2020. There will be more dealerships in Bangkok, Greater Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Chiang Mai. Not bad considering that they started with just one dealership in Bangkok just not long ago.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 won the “Best Modern Classic Middleweight” award at the Thailand Bike of the Year 2019 awards ceremony.

However, RE did not mention if they plan to export the bikes produced in Thailand to other Southeast Asian countries.
