QJ Motor

Qianjiang, the parent company of Benelli, is reportedly developing a new V-4 engine that will power the company’s future motorcycle models.

  • QJ Motor plans to introduce it’s own V4 engine in the near future.
  • The V4 powertrain is said to be around the 1L mark and offers more than 200hp.

The engine has been featured in several patent applications published in China recently, revealing that it is a 90-degree V-4 engine with double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, somewhere around the 1,000cc mark.

*the new patent showcased a 90-degree V4 engine.

Although the engine’s intended motorcycle model is unknown, some of the patent drawings feature the QJMotor logo, indicating that it will appear in at least one model in the company’s fast-growing QJMotor range. However, Qianjiang already shares its current engines across both the QJMotor and Benelli lineups, making it likely that the V-4 engine will eventually appear under the Benelli banner.

QJMotor range already includes more than 30 motorcycles, ranging from 50cc to 900cc. Therefore, the addition of a V-4 engine will help the company achieve its goal of having every type of combustion engine in its motorcycle lineup.

Qianjiang’s new V-4 engine project is a significant step towards establishing the company’s presence in the high-performance market.

Harley-Davidson is set to debut the X350 and X500 on March 10, 2023.

  • The X350 and X500 is a result of Harley-Davidson partnership with Chinese manufacturer, QJ Motor.
  • The X350 and X500 features the same mill from Benelli’s 302S and Leoncino 500 respectively.

The Harley-Davidson X350, the most affordable two-wheeler bearing the H-D badge, is based on the Benelli 302S, while the X500 is based on a slightly larger Benelli Leoncino 500.

While the bikes’ technical foundation already exists, the new Harleys feature altered designs, styling, and ergonomics, giving them a much smaller and more compact appearance than their American counterparts.

Poweringthe X350 is a 353cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine capable of producing 36 horsepower.

Meanwhile, the X500 boasts a 500cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine with a maximum output of 47 horsepower. Both bikes share inverted front forks, front and rear disc brakes equipped with ABS, and LED lights all around.

The Harley-Davidson X350 and X500 will compete with cruisers and neo-retro roadsters such as the Royal Enfield Meteor and Hunter 350, Honda Rebel 300 and 500, and the Benelli Leoncino and 502C.

Benelli is making great strides in 2022, with over 8,522 new motorcycles registered in Italy.

  • Benelli sold more than 8,000 units in the first six months of 2022.
  • The TRK 502 is the brand’s most famous motorcycle, with more than 4,000 units registered in Italy in 2022.

According to the company, the sales projection marks a six per cent increase compared to last year’s period.

For a company that Chinese-based QJ Motors own, the numbers certainly seem that Italian riders are satisfied with the brand.

Thanks to the trust, Benelli became the best-selling motorcycle brand in Italy for the first six months of 2022.

Moreover, for a brand that has to compete with big players like Ducati and Aprilia, becoming the best-selling motorcycle brand in Italy is a historical moment.

While some might question the authenticity of Benelli as an Italian brand, the reality is that plenty of companies are financed by other firms that is based elsewhere.

Considering Benelli is making great strides in terms of sales in Italy; clearly Italians are in love with the brand.

Interestingly, the TRK 502 has played a pivotal role in Benelli’s 2022 success so far. Out of the total, Benelli sold 4,436 units of the TRK 502 in the first six months of 2022.

“Today, we are facing a historic result. An extraordinary milestone, achieved thanks to the incredible commitment, passion and determination of all those who are part of this company,” said Benelli Italia sales manager Gianni Monini.

The upcoming QJ Motor middleweight adventure motorcycle, the QJ650, has passed homologation in China.

  • This model sees the Chinese brand fielding a new 649cc V-twin heart with a claimed 75HP.

  • Two variants will be available, namely a basic ‘standard’ plus a higher-speced ‘Adventure’.

After filing the patents last October, the new motorcycle has officially passed the homologation process thus edging closer to production.

The recent patent application also revealed some key technical details surrounding the model. Key to which is the engine that the QJMotor QJ650 adopts – a 649cc V-twin with a claimed output of 75HP.

Moreover, the two patent documents filed also revealed the QJ650 will come in two variants. One of which will be a higher-specced ‘Adventure’ offering brimmed with a set of luggage side and top boxes. Other details revealed include a claimed weight figures of 219KG (standard) and 249KG (Adventure), as well as the presence of an ABS module.

The new 650 will feature things like crash bars and handguards along with a wire spoke wheels.

As for release date and availability, QJMotor remains mum about it for now, but word has it we will see this V-twin model officially debut sometime later this year.

QJ Motor has entered the big scooter segment with the all-new Fortress 350.

  • the Fortress 350 is QJ Motor first foray into the maxi-scooter category.
  • designed in collaboration with Ricardo Motorcycles.

The QJ Motor Fortress 350 is the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer first attempt to dived into the maxi-scooter segment, with the help from Ricardo Motorcycles who helped with the designed.

The Fortress 350 is powered by an all-new engine which could also lead to more new models in the coming future.

Fitted with a 349cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder mill, the Fortress 350 makes 34hp, making it the most powerful scooter in the QJ Motor stable.

While the side profile design is a reminiscent of other Japanese maxi-scooter like the Yamaha XMax and Honda Forza, the overall design has a few nods to continental brand like the BMW C 400 X and C 400 GT.

This is because Ricardo Motorcycles also have a hand in designing BMW’s scooters.

Other modern features include:

  • full colour TFT display
  • ByBre brakes
  • ABS
  • traction control
  • electronic adjustable windscreen

Meanwhile, reports suggest that it is likely the QJ Motor Fortress 350 will be rebadged as Benelli and will be sold in Europe beginning with France and Germany.

Chinese motorcycle manufacturer QJ Motor has updated its 600RR sportbike for 2022, which includes a revised engine and a redesigned bodywork.

  • the QJ Motor 600RR runs on the same 4-cylinder engine found on the Benelli TNT600.

  • gets extra horsepower and torque thanks to new revised exhaust system.

Launched in 2020 as the company’s first four-cylinder sportbike, the 600RR is built from the foundations of the Benelli TNT600i.

Right off the bat, the 2022 600RR features a redesigned front fascia that looks eerily similar to the Ducati Panigale including the addition of a carbon winglet. While it may look mainly for aesthetic purposes, QJ Motor claimed it adds around 6 kilograms of downforce when travelling at 150km/h.

QJ Motor also managed to shed two kilograms of weight, reducing the wet weight to 213kg.

The 600RR also gained a bigger 18L fuel tank for an extra range, making it ideal for daily commuting and the occasional track days.

Meanwhile, the bike’s rear also gets a sharper tail section making the side profile look sportier then the previous generation.

Although no changes to the chassis, the four-cylinder engine now receives an extra power and torque boost thanks to a newly revised exhaust system.

As such the mill now pumps out 87.2hp @ 11,500rpm and 56Nm @ 10,500rpm.

Nonetheless, other specifications remain the same as the 600RR still runs with a non-adjustable USD KYB front fork and preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. While the suspension is relatively low spec, the braking aspect is rather good, with twin 4-piston radially mounted Brembo callipers at the front paired toa radial master cylinder.

Other electronic features include:

  • ABS
  •  traction control
  • riding modes
  • quick shifter (upshift only)
  • TFT display
  • USB C port

Patents surfacing online indicates a possible new twin-cylinder Benelli 402R sport model to battle against the Kawasaki Ninja 400.
