  • Team Petronas Raceline Malaysia parting ways with Hafizh Syahrin in 2018.

  • Hafizh Syahrin has finished on the podium twice this year.

  • He has been with team Petronas Raceline Malaysia for the past 10 years.

Kuala Lumpur 20 OCTOBER 2017 – Team PETRONAS RACELINE MALAYSIA has announced that Hafizh Syahrin will not be continuing with the team in the 2018 Moto2 season, after an illustrious 10 year partnership. (Click here for Team Petronas Raceline Malaysia’s official Facebook page.)

Team PETRONAS RACELINE MALAYSIA has had a very successful relationship with Hafizh Syahrin, dating back to 2007, when the young rider made his debut at the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship. Barry Leong, the Team Principal then, first discovered the budding star when he was racing in the Pocket Bike League.

“It has been a wonderful journey, seeing Hafizh progress throughout his career from racing in the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix, moving up the different classes, and advancing on to the Asia Road Racing Championship. Hafizh, under Team PETRONAS RACELINE MALAYSIA, then participated in The Australian Formula Extreme Championship in 2011, before we moved on to race in the FIM CEV Championship in Spain” said Barry.

“It truly has been an honour and a privilege for us as a team, to have grown together with Hafizh. I have known and guided him since he was 12 years old, racing as a very talented boy, and now, a passionate young adult. However, for everything that has a beginning, there has to be an ending, and we have come to a natural and amicable one” he said.

“Malaysia still has a pool of untapped local talents that are waiting to be discovered. Moving forward, Team Raceline will continue to develop and groom these young talents in setting higher goals to fully maximize their potential” he added.
Hafizh Syahrin has scored a few podium finishes in Moto2, including two this year, one of them at Motegi last week. Syahrin picked up his “Pescao” nickname when he was contesting in the CEV Championships in Spain. According to the rider, because he had always done well in the rain, his crew called him, “Pescao,” meaning “fish” in Spanish. True to his nickname, his podium finishes were mostly from racing in wet conditions.
Since his full season debut in 2014, Hafizh has steadily improved on his overall standings – 19th in 2014, 16th in 2015, 9th in 2016, and is currently in 9th with three rounds to go.

Salah sebuah acara permotosikalan yang terbesar di Malaysia, acara Borneo International H.O.G Rally Malaysia 2017, atau singkatannya BIHRM, akan berlangsung dari 30 September hinggan 9 Oktober.

One of the biggest motorcycle events in Malaysia, the Borneo International H.O.G. Rally Malaysia 2017, or simply BIHRM, will take place from 30th September to 9th of October.

Predictably, the logistics of managing such a large event is arduous at best. So, to help manage some of the functions in executing a successful event are two companies that are synonymous with the Malaysian business landscape – Petronas and Malaysia Airlines.

Petronas as the Official Fuel Partner, and Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Cargo, as the Official Logistics Partner for the rally.

The partnership between the Harley-Davidson Owners Group, KL Chapter was officiated today at the Harley-Davidson Showroom in Petaling Jaya.

“BIHRM 2017 started with an idea to ride from the Kota Kinabalu International Bike Week to the Kuching International Bike Week,” said T.J. Roslan, Director of the Harley Owners Group Kuala Lumpur Chapter, Malaysia.

“The idea became into an awesome collaboration with the local H.O.G.® members in Sabah and Sarawak. The result was the making of BIHRM2017.” he added.

The Borneo International H.O.G.® Rally Malaysia (BIHRM) 2017 will be gathering Harley-
Davidson owners and enthusiasts from around the world for an epic 1,450km ride from Kota Kinabalu to Labuan then down to Brunei before Miri, Bintulu, Sibu and ends in Kuching while experiencing the beauty and the culture of Borneo.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Cargo has agreed to be the Official Logistic Partner of the Borneo
International H.O.G.® Rally Malaysia (BIHRM) 2017, providing rapid air freight to transport the motorcycles to Kota Kinabalu for the start of the rally and from Kuching at the end of the rally.

A special promotion video will be recorded in order to show how meticulous transporting a
motorcycle by air can be.

Along the way, the rally will visit several locations where Petronas Dagangan Berhad will hold its ‘Water for Life’ programme to provide local community access to clean water supply and its ‘Streetsmart’ programme to educate the public on basic road safety.

The Borneo International H.O.G.® Rally Malaysia (BIHRM) 2017 aspires to benefit both Harley-Davidson owners as well as the local tourism industries by making BIHRM2017 as a benchmark to inspire more motorcycling events in Borneo in the future.

Motorsport is an emotional sport, it is full of ups and downs, trials and tribulations and plenty of heartbreak. For our national racing heroes like Hafizh Shahrin, Khairul Idham Pawi and even Adam Norrodin, emotions were running high at last weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix (Assen TT) as the race coincided with Hari Raya (Eid celebrations).

Though they had to be far away from their families, who were undoubtedly stuck to the TV to watch the race, it was Hafizh Syahrin who brought some Raya cheer to the track.

The 23 year old was seen around the track in the traditional ‘baju melayu’ complete with songkok. He was also keen to share some local delicacies as he offered dates and other yummies to members of his team and others.

The racer from Ampang, who had a scary moment on track when his race bike threatened to high side him but managed to control it with brute force, shared some interesting photos on his social media page showing him mingling around, and even wearing the songkok on the starting grid, only replacing it with his helmet when it was time for the teams to clear the grid. Some members of his team too were seen donning the baju melayu complete with songkok on the starting grid and around the pits.

Hafizh Syahrin finished the race in 8th place after a strong showing.

To Hafizh we say tahniah and thank you for flying the Malaysian flag up high. And Selamat Hari Raya!
