It is no secret that Kawasaki plans to introduce the Ninja ZX-4R in 2023, as confirmed by the latest report in Japan.

  • The current ZX-25R is set to be joined by the bigger ZX-4R.
  • A new VIN decoder suggests that the ZX-4R will be available in two trims, ABS and non-ABS.

Japanese publication, Autoby managed to get an inside scoop regarding the 399cc inline-four cylinder motorcycle.

Now, thanks to the latest report by Motorcycle.com, a new Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) decoder released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has confirmed that Kawasaki will indeed introduce the Ninja ZX-4R model for 2023.

This means that unlike the ZX-25R – currently only available in Japan and other Asian markets due to emission restrictions – the Ninja ZX-4R will make its way to the U.S. and Europe.

The VIN decoder was dated March 22, which stated the following listings that you can check out HERE.

The first row on the first column listed ZX400PP. According to Motorcycle.com, the Z.X. refers to a high-performance sportsbike, while the 400 indicates the engine capacity followed by the letter “P” representing 2023MY.

The complete VIN decoder listings – specifically the first two rows of the seventh column – clearly state the number of cylinders of the ZX400PP and ZX400SP.

The ZX-4R could be offered in two trims, ABS and non-ABS, hence the ZX400PP and ZX400SP.

Like the ZX-25R, the upcoming ZX-4R is likely to present a significant increase of power over the Ninja 400’s 48hp, with rumours going around suggesting the 400cc inline-four cylinder motorcycle to put out around 59hp.

The highly anticipated Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R will land in Malaysia next year.

  • the ZX-25R will finally hit Malaysia’s shores soon.
  • powered by a 249.8cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, the ZX-25R makes 50hp and 22.9Nm.

Two years since the official launch of the Ninja ZX-25R in Indonesia, the quarter-liter screamer will finally make its way to Malaysia.

According to the newly appointed Kawasaki distributor in Malaysia, MODENAS, the Ninja ZX-25R will land in Malaysia within the first half of 2023.

The information was conveyed to us by MODENAS Chief Executive Officer Roslan Roskan, during the recent visit to the MODENAS factory in Gurun, Kedah.

However, Roslan admitted that MODENAS and Kawasaki are still yet to determine whether to bring in the motorcycle as a CKD or CBU unit.

Nevertheless, it is the news everyone has been waiting for ever since the Ninja ZX-25R appeared in Indonesia.

During the global introduction, Kawasaki Indonesia showcased four different colour options with two different variants up for grabs: the base 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R and the Ninja ZX-25R Special Edition (SE).

The differences between the base model and the Special Edition are the additions of selectable riding modes, quick-shifter (both ways), and traction control as standard for the SE.

As for the engine, the Ninja ZX-25R’s 249cc inline-four DOHC engine produces a staggering 50hp at 15,500rpm (51hp with ram air) and 22.9Nm of max torque at 14,500rpm. In other words, you will have some good times when you rev this baby hard.

Other specs include:

  • Power Mode Selection (Full or Low)
  • New race-inspired Trellis frame
  • 37mm front Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP)
  • Horizontal back-link rear suspension
  • Dunlop GPR300 radial tyres
  • LCD instrument display
  • 180kg (182kg for SE)
  • 15-litre fuel tank

After our extensive launch report, you’d think you already know everything you need to about the new and massively upgraded 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. However, Kawasaki doesn’t think so, explaining its newly released video below that details the brand’s flagship superbike in all its glory.

To cut things short, what Kawasaki have done was essentially taking the vast input from its World Superbike Championship (WSBK) team’s riders and engineers in the superbike’s development, resulting in the creation of one of its most potent machines ever.

You could say that the new ZX-10R has leaped ahead of its predecessors significantly, and you could perhaps measure that in lightyears if needed. But, lets not forget the 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R’s core mission, which is to grant the Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) with a strong machine to defend its WSBK title in the coming years.

The full upgrade package starts with an uprated powerplant that’s caged within a revised chassis that boasts built-in resonance chambers and a longer swingarm. The follow up to that is the redesigned exterior with improved aerodynamic stability as well.

However, one of its most critical new gains lies in its generously upgraded electronics, the icing of said cake though being the Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that ties all the systems together.

Then comes some of the impressive new hardware starting with the production bike debut of the adjustable Showa Balance Free Front Fork system featuring gas-charged tubes. Complementing those further are the adoptions of new radially mounted Brembo monobloc calipers up front that grabs a pair of larger 330mm rotors that is tasked with the bulk of arresting this superbike to a halt.
