Ducati Malaysia successfully unveiled six new models during the Ducati Malaysia Premier 2022 at the Bangsar Shopping Center (BSC) on Wednesday.

  • Ducati Malaysia welcomes six new models for the Malaysian market.

  • The Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada V2 S are among the new models set to be on sale in Malaysia.

The latest unveiling by Ducati Malaysia was led by a trio of V2-powered machines with the likes of Ducati Streetfighter V2, Multistrada V2 S and the limited run Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary edition followed by the Streetfighter V4 SP.

Meanwhile, the Land Of Joy welcomes two new addition, the Scrambler Urban Motard and Scrambler 1100 Tribute PRO.

Streetfighter V2 – RM101,900

The idea behind the new V2 is simple, take the Ducati Panigale V2, strip the fairing and boom! The Streetfighter V2 is born.

This also means that the Streetfighter V2 is powered by the same desmodromic Superquadro 955cc engine that makes 150hp and 102Nm.

However, the Streetfighter V2 is in a more approachable form for street riding compared to the Panigale V2.

It also features a longer single-sided swingarm, fully adjustable Showa Big Piston front forks, Sachs rear shocks (also adjustable) and Sachs steering damper.

Meanwhile, braking is done by the same Brembo M4-32 monobloc radial callipers with 320mm disc available on the Panigale V2.

Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss – RM136,900

The special edition Panigale V2 was built to pay homage to Troy Bayliss careers at the Superbike World Championship.

The Panigale V2 is characterized by the combination of livery and graphics inspired by the 996 R that helped Bayliss clinched his maiden win in the 2001 WSBK.

To better enhance performance on the track, the V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary is fitted with Öhlins NX30 front fork and TTX36 rear shock absorbers.

The bike also managed to shed off 3kgs of weight thanks to a new lithium-ion battery and a single-seat configuration.

Ducati Mutlistrada V2 S – RM105,900

While it may look like the current 950S, the Multistrada V2 S is a far technologically advanced motorcycle thanks to an all-new electronic package.

According to Ducati, the entire build was focus on ergonomics, weight reduction, and engine updates.

As a result, the new Multistrada V2 S is equipped with the latest 937cc Testastretta 11° with desmodromic distribution and a water-cooled unit that delivers 113hp and 98Nm.

The twin-cylinder engine offers linear and manageable power at low-revs while also capable of pumping greater torque when needed.

Ducati claimed the engine has an extended maintenance interval, with a regular oil change at every 15,000km and Ducati Desmo service (valve clearance check) at every 30,000km.
This is contributed by using new connecting rods, a new 8-disc hydraulic clutch and an updated gearbox that guarantees better precision during shifting.
In order to achieve maximum comfort, the Multistrada V2 S features a 19″ front wheel and Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO semi-active suspension that adjust the suspensions settings according to the road conditions.
Shorter riders will also benefit from the shorter 830mm seat height and narrower saddle, allowing you to touch the ground with your feet easily.
Interestingly, the Multistrada V2 S also features a new footpeg taken from its bigger cousin, the Multistrada V4 and a 5kg weight reduction compared to the current Multistrada 950.

Meanwhile, Ducati Malaysia also launched the Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP which you can read HERE.

Last year, we witnessed the official unveiling of the new Ducati Multistrada V4 at the 2021 Ducati World Premier.

Fast forward into September, Next Bike Sdn Bhd the official distributor of the Ducati brand in Malaysia has finally unveiled the all-new Multistrada V4 for the local market.

Starting with the design, the new 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 still carries that iconic Italian ADV bike looks where form blends exceptionally well with function.

At the front, the headlight is inspired by the very sporty Panigale series thanks to its full-LED setup and daytime-running lights with cornering illumination functions.

You’ll also see a strange square box embedded upfront, which is the bike’s internal radar system linked to its Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection systems.

A more sporty appeal is seen on the sides thanks to those wind-shaped curves that not only looks superb but also helps to increase stability as well as provide thermal and aerodynamic comfort.

This also helps with the overall riding ergonomics due to its slim subframe for ‘greater control and riding pleasure.

The heart of the new Multistrada V4 lies a 1,158cc Ducati Granturismo V4 engine that puts out 170hp at 10,500rpm and 125Nm of torque at 8,750rpm.

Features like a counter-rotating crankshaft (MotoGP inspired) and dedicated gearshift (Panigale V4 inspired) offer even more versatility, especially with its shorter first gear and longer sixth gear.

  • Safety features include:
  • Riding Modes
  • Power Modes
  • ABS Cornering
  • Ducati Traction Control
  • Ducati Wheelie Control
  • Daytime Running Light
  • Ducati Brake Light

Pricing for the new Multistrada V4 starts from RM135,900.

Ducati Malaysia has been on a roll lately after the dramas of 2020. The brand, under Next Bike Sdn Bhd, has seen steady sales, steady supplies of bikes and parts as well as good demand for bikes like the Scrambler.

One sales person pointed out that ever since the lockdown was ordered, more people turned to urbanised motorcycles like the Scrambler Ducati. This is unsurprising as people are limited to intra state travel rather than the usual inter state rides, and as such prefer more urban friendly models.

Despite that, the Panigale V4S, Hypermotard 950 and the Monster remains the brands best sellers.

As custodian of the Ducati brand in Malaysia, Next Bike Sdn Bhd has been on a rebuild mode and the determination to create an enviable brand is evident in the steely eyes of its current head – Dennis Michael.

In a recent interview with Francesco Milicia (above) – Director of Global Sales and Aftermarket for Ducati Motor Holding – he credited Ducati Malaysia (Next Bike) for leaning into the digital space more than ever, and for ramping up marketing campaigns that produced an impressive 2020 performance.

Francesco said, “We will work to make the Ducati brand even more exclusive through prestigious collaborations and we will start up new projects in the world of touring, to support the arrival of products as extraordinary as the new Multistrada V4.”

The following is the interview with Francesco:

How long has Ducati partnered with Next Bike Sdn Bhd in the Malaysia market?

Ducati Motor Holding and Next Bike Sdn Bhd have been in a strong partnership since the early 2000s, which resulted in the second-largest Ducati showroom in Southeast Asia being opened at Petaling Jaya in 2020. The dealership has an area of 21,339m2 that covers Sales, Servicing and Spares operations.

What has Ducati done to achieve these results in 2020?

It is the fruit of the work that begun the moment Ducati decided to enter this market, identifying it as a sector with high potential and the partnership with Next Bike Sdn Bhd was named as Ducati Malaysia in the public domain.

Ducati Malaysia established its presence through an office and a local team, progressively importing the entire product range, developing a suitable distribution network and promoting the brand with tailor-made initiatives for their customers.

With the unprecedented situation faced in 2020, Ducati Malaysia has leaned into the digital space more than ever before by ramping up digital marketing campaigns, which produced an impressive 2020 performance under highly adverse market conditions.

Are the dealerships like the Italian ones? How many? Locations?

The dealers in Ducati Petaling Jaya are exactly like those in the rest of the world and follow the Ducati Corporate Identity, an integral part of the Brand. Ducati currently has three mono-brand stores in main urban areas – Petaling Jaya, Sungai Buloh and Penang as our northern branch. Depending on the market requirements, a further expansion of the network will be considered.

What are the differences between Malaysia and European customers? What do they ask, what do they prefer, how is the bike viewed?

The Malaysian market can be described as extremely dynamic, fast and responsive. The customer here is very sensitive to innovations, exclusivity, the intrinsic value of the vehicle and also the perceived brand value. The customer is also very demanding, quality is a fundamental requirement, both in the product and in the service. Premium motorcycling, like that of a Ducati rider in Malaysia, is a thorough exercise in enjoyment, an avenue for one to escape the mundane routines of daily life.

Primary motorcycling usage are for trips out of town and we are noticing a strong increase of interest in track activities. The Malaysian customer buys a Ducati because it is a status symbol, which allows them to assert an avant-garde image and to enter a network of people with similar interests and social position.

Also the customers in Malaysia are racing fans and love the brands racing pedigree since Ducati takes part in both the MotoGP and the Superbike World Championships.

Ducati has been competing in the premier-class MotoGP category since 2003. The Company won the Constructors’ World Title in 2020 and was World Champion in the 2007 season, winning both Constructors’ and Riders’ Titles in the Superbike World Championship, Ducati has won 17 Manufacturers’ titles and 14 Riders’ titles, collecting more than 300 race victories. Ducati is the motorcycle manufacturer that has won the most titles since the beginning of the production-based Superbike series in 1988.

What courses and activities does Ducati organize in Malaysia?

Ducati Malaysia has a string of activities that engages not only the current crop of Ducati owners but also new prospects via three key areas. First, in line with the 2021 launch of the new Multistrada V4 family, Ducati Riding Experiences (DRE) are to be held throughout the year in educating riders on off-road riding and the vast capabilities of the new Multistrada V4. Following suit, Ducati Track Days are planned out as well to cater to the growing need for track day activities, enabling Ducati owners to unleash their Ducati motorcycles in full force. While thirdly on a more casual note, Ducati Red Weekends will have accompanying ride-along weekends starting from our flagship Petaling Jaya Showroom off to wherever the road leads for the intrepid owners and their bikes.

Which bikes sell the most in Malaysia / which Ducati model do customers like the best?

Confirming the preferences of the Malaysian customers towards top-of-the-range models, one of 2020’s best sellers was the newly launched Panigale V4 S. Malaysian customers were quick to adopt the new Panigale V4 S due to it’s amazing performance and specifications. With that being said, the Monster 821 and Hypermotard 950 rounds out the top three best sellers, also indicating a good mix of successful products for the Malaysian market.

What new initiatives do you envisage in 2021?

In 2021 we will expand the program of activities already carried out successfully last year but Malaysia is a country that constantly requires new formats, it is necessary to offer something out of the ordinary. With this in mind we will strengthen the digital experiences for our customers and enthusiasts, we will work to make the Ducati brand even more exclusive through prestigious collaborations and we will start up new projects in the world of touring, to support the arrival of products as extraordinary as the new Multistrada V4.

Later in October 2021, MotoGP will be making its triumphant return to our Sepang International Circuit after its absence from the 2020 MotoGP racing calendar. Alongside the spectacular racing, in support of the Ducati Lenovo Team, Ducati Malaysia will be gearing up in creating an extravagant Ducati MotoGP experience area like no other. Stay tuned for more!

  • Next Bike Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary company of Naza Group and has been distributing Ducati bikes since 2008.
  • Ducati and Next Bike Sdn Bhd reaffirm their commitment to growing the brand in Malaysia.
  • Next Bike Sdn Bhd will relocate the Ducati Malaysia HQ to a new outlet in Petaling Jaya.
  • The new outlet will receive a RM3million upgrade and will feature state-of-the-art technology for servicing Ducatis and Scramblers.

Next Bike Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of one of Malaysia’s largest privately-owned companies, the Naza Group, has been distributing Ducati motorcycles since 2008. Over the years, Next Bike Sdn Bhd has built the Ducati brand to be among the most desired in Malaysia.

The company achieved this by offering a state-of-the-art showroom and service centre, a well-equipped and knowledgeable staff, attractive prices, an engaging online presence, and a superbly active owners club known as the Desmo Owners Club.

With this in place, the Ducati brand has enjoyed unprecedented success under the stewardship of Next Bike Sdn Bhd. Its most popular model has quite surprisingly been the Ducati Multistrada (above), followed by the Monster 821, Panigale V4 and the Hypermotard 939.

“Next Bike Sdn Bhd has always been and will always continue to be dedicated to building the Ducati brand in Malaysia. We want to offer our Ducati owners world-class aftersales service and we are always working on improving the ownership experience of Ducati riders,” said Nazman S.H.C Yusof (top, centre), Head of 2-Wheel Division, Naza Automotive Group.

Nazman has been with the Naza Group since 2012, and has helmed the two-wheel business for the company since 2018 and personally overlooks the progress and development of Ducati bikes in Malaysia.

Commenting on the relationship between Ducati and Next Bike Sdn Bhd, Mr Raffaele Fusilli (top, left), the Global Sales Director for Ducati Motor Holding, said, “The working experience with Naza has been successful for us. Naza is not only passionate for Ducati and the values it represents, but with Naza, Ducati can count on one of the most important business brands in Malaysia. We know we can rely on Naza to build Ducati in Malaysia.”

Mr Raffaele was in Malaysia for a meeting with the top management of Naza and also took some time out to meet select members of the media. He further commented, “Naza is in the right direction, the company is always looking for ways to grow and so is Ducati, so that makes Naza the right partner for us because we have common interests. Naza also focuses on making customers happy first and then only comes sales, which is in line with Ducati’s direction,” he concluded.

During the meeting, Nazman took the opportunity to introduce plans to continue Ducati’s exceptional growth in Malaysia, outlining plans for the first half of the year.

“2019 is going to be a year unlike any other for Ducati Malaysia, we will be introducing nine new models this year, but most importantly we will be moving to a new headquarters that will be purposefully designed to offer the very best of Ducati, its sub-brand Scrambler Ducati, as well as parts, accessories, apparel and riding gear,” said Nazman.

Ducati Malaysia will be relocating to the former Harley-Davidson KL showroom by the federal highway as part of a RM3million plan to re-energise the Ducati brand in Malaysia. Image source: WeMotor

He continued to say, “Next Bike Sdn Bhd has invested RM3 million into the new 3S centre which will be twice as big as the previous one. It will have a beautiful showroom that showcases the beauty of Ducati and Scrambler motorcycles, and most importantly it will focus on after sales. Ducati customers can expect to have their bikes serviced in an advanced workshop with the latest tools and equipment specially designed to service Ducati bikes. We also want to be a pioneer in rider and motorcycle safety, so we hope that this new centre will allow Ducati owners to come together to share ideas on riding and also to have programs that will help improve rider safety”

Nazman further added that there will be a new team set up specifically to build the Scrambler Ducati brand (above) in Malaysia and will operate independently of the Ducati team. This will be done to help grow the Scrambler brand in the country independently from the Ducati brand.

Next Bike Sdn Bhd is also looking to strengthen its position in the southern state of Johor; “We have always been in Johor, but we are looking to create a bigger presence through a new dealer. With Ducati Motor Holding, we are actively interviewing possible dealers and should be able to secure one soon. We already have 3 dealers in central Malaysia and one dealer in Penang, with a new dealer in the south, we are confident that we will reach a wider audience and this will in turn help to spur sales as well as create a positive ownership experience,” commented Nazman.

Ducati Malaysia seems set to enjoy strong results for 2019 with a well thought out plan. With that, it seems like there has never been a better time to own a Ducati. We for one absolutely loved the Scrambler Ducati 1100 Sport, read all about this fantastic machine by clicking here.

  • Ducati Malaysia (Next Bike Sdn. Bhd.) dengan secara rasminya telah melancarkan tiga buah model baharu bagi tahun 2018.
