Revving Up Safety: MyMAP Welcomes High-Powered Motorcycles in Malaysia

The Malaysian Motorcycle Assessment Programme (MyMAP) has officially announced the opening of participation to all motorcycle manufacturers in Malaysia for the above 250cc category and all engine combinations, including internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrid, and electric models.

Phase 2 and 3 is open to all 250cc and above motorcycles.
The MyMAP programme is dedicated in promoting safer motorcycles.

This development marks a significant expansion of the program and presents an opportunity for premium and high-powered motorcycle models to showcase their safety technology.

Since its inception, MyMAP has been dedicated to promoting safer motorcycles, and it has already awarded five-star ratings to nine motorcycle models from various manufacturers in Malaysia.

However, until now, participation in the program was optional and limited to motorcycles with engine capacities of 250cc and below. With the implementation of the second phase, MyMAP will include motorcycles over 250cc, and eventually, the third phase will encompass all motorcycle types with diverse power combinations.

Director of the Research Center for Vehicle Safety and Biomechanics, Ts. Zulhaidi Jawi, expressed his satisfaction with the response from large and hybrid-powered motorcycle manufacturers.

“We have received many applications from manufacturers, which led to the early opening of the third phase of participation,” he said.

This move is expected to encourage more manufacturers to join MyMAP, promoting the integration of safety technology into basic or affordable models. It aligns with the evolving motorcycle market in Malaysia, which aims to offer a wide range of additional safety features at reasonable prices.

MIROS welcomes manufacturers who are interested in participating in this rating program to submit their applications via email to mymap@miros.gov.my.

MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS, Z250 ABS Dapat Penarafan 5-Bintang MyMAP

MODENAS buat julung kalinya menerima penarafan lima bintang MyMAP daripada Institut Penyelidikan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (MIROS) bagi motosikal MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS dan Z250 ABS.

Penarafan itu diberikan susulan kedua-dua model tersebut berjaya mencapai standard keselamatan yang ditetapkan MIROS termasuk sistem ABS, fungsi klac assist/slipper serta chasis yang ringan.

Menurut MODENAS, MyMAP secara rasmi memberi penarafan

lima bintang kepada kedua-dua model ini sebaik proses penilaian dan audit selesai dijalankan pada Oktober lalu.

Pada masa sama, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MODENAS, Roslan Roskan, kongsi rasa teruja dengan penarafan tersebut.

“Kami di MODENAS amat berbangga dengan pengiktirafan yang telah dianugerahkan pada kedua-dua model Modenas Ninja 250 dan Modenas Z250 versi ABS.

“Kedua model ini merupakan motosikal pertama yang menerima penarafan 5 bintang MyMAP bagi segmen Naked Bike dan Sports Bike bersasaran 250cc.

“Dengan itu, kami amat berharap para pembeli akan lebih cakna dalam membuat keputusan ketika membeli motosikal dana lebih mementingkan teknologi keselamatan yang ditawarkan pada setiap motosikal mereka,” jelasnya.

Untuk rekod, MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS dan Z250 ABS antara model yang dijenamakan semula daripada Kawasaki dan dipasang sepenuhnya kilang MODENAS di Gurun, Kedah.

MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS dan Z250 ABS dikuaskan platform ‘parallel-twin’ 249cc DOHC, dengan penyejukan cecair yang menghasilkan 36hp pada 12,500rpm dan 23Nm pada 10,000rpm.

Kedua-dua model ini dipasarkan pada harga RM20,500 dan RM19,500.

MODENAS has been awarded Malaysia Motorcycle Assesment Program (MyMAP) five-star rating for the Ninja 250 ABS and Z250 ABS.

MODENAS awarded MyMap 5-star rating from Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS).
The MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS dan Z250 ABS offers top of the class safety features.

The 5-star rating is awarded after both motorcycle features the necessary safety elements including ABS, assist and slipper clutch and lighter chassis.

Interestingly, both the Ninja 250 ABS and Z250 ABS registered the same score for meeting the necessary standard.

Meanwhile, Roslan Roskan, Chief Executive Officer of MODENAS, is elated over the MyMAP 5-star rating.

“This will be the first time for MODENAS to receive such recognition for its products.

“In addition, both models are the first motorcycles to receive the MyMAP 5-star rating in its class (250cc sports bike for Ninja and 250cc naked bike for Z250).

“By having so, we believe that it will help our customers to make a more informed purchase decision, especially on the importance of having advanced safety technology available on their motorcycles.

“In addition, MODENAS will continue to provide more safety features to its existing range of motorcycles,” he said.
