MV Agusta Rush 1000

MV Agusta has unveiled the latest version of the Rush with a revised engine and electronics, including a new colour scheme.

Although the 998cc inline-four engine derived from the Brutale 1000 RR now adheres to Euro 5 regulations, MV Agusta claimed the motorcycle still maintain the same power output of 208hp at 13,000rpm and 116Nm at 11,000rpm.

The hyper naked motorcycle also comes with a new camshaft timing which improves low-end and mid-range torque.

According to MV Agusta, the 2021 Rush also packs with DLC-coated valve guides to reduce friction and improve reliability.

The unique ‘lenticular disc’ rear wheel also remains on the 2021 model, including the round LED headlight and trimmed tail section.

The updated Rush also comes with a jet-inspired paint job that can be paired with an (optional) AGV helmet and a bomber style jacket.

Every purchase of the new Rush also comes with a race kit consisting of an SC exhaust and dedicated racing ECU that will help boost the horsepower to 209hp.

Other exciting features include:

  • 3rd generation EAS 3.0 electronic gearbox
  • Ohlins suspension
  • Brembo Stylema callipers with twin 320mm disc
  • GPS and Bluetooth connectivity
  • 5.5″ TFT display

The 2021 MV Agusta Rush 1000 Limited Edition is priced at EUR38,000 (RM192,400).

  • The MV Agusta Rush 1000 was launched at EICMA 2019.

  • It features an outrageous styling.

  • Besides that, the engine produces 208 hp.

While the motorcycling world was closely watching the launch of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and Kawasaki Z H2, the MV Agusta Rush 1000 was akin to a bomb dropped on all of them.

It started out as just a styling exercise for the Italian firm. However, they decided to turn it into production – albeit a limited run.

The bike will feature both MotoGP and Formula 1 technology, including a 1000cc, inline-Four engine with radial valve arrangement (they are set all around the head, rather than pairing them in different locations). This boosts engine power to 208 hp. Not enough for you? Then you should purchase the Rush Racing Kit to bump it up to 212 hp.

The kit also includes a titanium exhaust system, a carbon fibre passenger seat cover and obviously, a remapped engine ECU. The use of carbon fibre parts drops the wet weight from 186 kg to 184 kg.

The MV Agusta Rush 1000 is already equipped with 8-level traction control, launch control, anti-wheelie electronics, electronic Öhlins suspension and Brembo Stylema front brake calipers. The manufacturer claims a top speed of “over 300 km/h.”

Customers in the UK and Europe are set to receive their orders beginning June 2020. Only 300 will be made.

  • The 2020 MV Agusta Rush 1000 is definitely extreme.

  • Its unique SC Project exhaust system gives it 209 bhp and 116 Nm.

  • It beats the Ducati Streetfighter V4 by 1 bhp.

MV Agusta is nothing if not for their radical bikes, but the 2020 MV Agusta Rush 1000 is an extreme.

The manufacturer says that it’s a tribute to the drag racing scene. But without an elongated swingarm and lowered body stance, it’s more of a streetfighter. Even then, it looks like its stylists were given the free hand to go bonkers.

The Rush 1000 is based on the Brutal 1000RR but MV gave specialist exhaust makers SC Project the task of producing a unique system. Instead of being routed out the side, the dual tips exit behind the frame and just above the rear tyre.

Fitted with the pipes, the engine liberates 209 bhp and 116 Nm of torque, placing it well in the hypernaked category. In fact, it is the most powerful against the 208 bhp Ducati Streetfighter V4 and 197 bhp Kawasaki Z H2.

There’s plenty of carbon fibre to bring its weight down to 185 kg, dry. That disc-like rear wheel cover is carbon, hiding a forged-aluminium wheel.

Front brakes are Brembo Stylema 4-piston calipers gripping 320 mm discs. Öhlins electronic suspension is rightfully fitted.

No price yet, but it’s definitely going to be expensive. We wonder if MV Agusta will make a more “regular” version to challenge the Streetfighter V4.
