The world of motorsport racing was mourning over the death of promising young talent such as Jason Dupasquier and Dean Berta Vinales last year.

Both young riders lost their lives due to injuries sustained on the track.

However, we are hit with another sad news: talented MotoAmerica racer Jason Aguilar has tragically lost his life following a mountain bike crash on February 5, 2022.

Despite friends managing to help first responders to transport Aguilar to the Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Vieja, California, the 26-year-old unfortunately did not survive.

His father, Bob Aguilar, broke down the news in a Facebook post dated February 6.

“(Jason) was rushed into surgery to relieve bleeding in his brain.

“While the surgery was successful in stopping the bleeding, he went without oxygen to his brain for too long before the surgery.

“As a result of the lack of oxygen, he suffered catastrophic and irreversible brain damage.

“Jason is an organ donor, so the hospital is making arrangements for (the) donation of his organs and recipients of those organs.

“Once that is complete, Jason will be taken off life support. We hope that Jason will live on in your memories and ours and that the donation of his organs will allow his memory to live on in others, ” he said.

Aguilar’s most significant achievement was winning the 2017 MotoAmerica Superstock 600 Championship with a personally funded team.

He later moved up through the ranks and into the SuperSport category, where he finished fourth overall in 2020.

The rider was fully focused on returning in the 2022 season after a botched sponsorship deal halted his plans in 2021.

Former MotoGP rider and 2022 Dakar Rally stage winner, Danilo Petrucci will return to track racing after officially confirming that he will race at the 2022 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship.

The Italian is set to enter race with Warhorse HSBK Ducati Racing onboard the Ducati Panigale V4.

He was previously confirmed to enter the race but needed the paperwork to be completed before making the official announcement.

The day has officially arrived and the former Ducati rider is excited over his return on a Ducati machine.

“I’m so happy that I am coming back to race with Ducati and I would like to give a special thank you to all the Ducait people who made this project possible,” said Petrucci in a statement.

“I spoke about this project with Eraldo Ferracci (Advisor, Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NY) at Circuit of the Americas last year and all the management including Claudio Domenicali, Gigi Dall’Igna, Paolo Ciabatti and Davide Tardozzi, and they were really happy to have me on board again.”

The 31-year-old Italian will ride a factory-build Ducati Panigale V4 R in the MotoAmerica series on April 8th.

Former MotoGP rider Danilo Petrucci has confirmed that he will compete in the MotoAmerica this season.

The ex-Ducati and KTM will ride aboard a factory-backed Ducati in the 2022 MotoAmerica series.

The Italian has been making headlines the past few weeks after an impressive debut at the 2022 Dakar Rally with KTM, where he scored a historic stage win despite not being classified in overall standing after retiring at Stage 2.

With his challenge at the historic race now over, Petrucci will set his sights on the 2022 MotoAmerica, which he confirms will compete with factory-backed Dark Horse HSBK Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Meanwhile, the two-time MotoGP race winner shared his excitement ahead of the 2022 season.

“It’s a life experience.

“I have the opportunity to live abroad and ride motorbikes, which is the thing I love most. I have always been in love with the United States, and I love the lifestyle over there, the open spaces.

“Every winter, I fly to California, rent a bike, and go ride for a couple of weeks in between Los Angeles and San Diego. Last time I went to Ocotillo, and I have friends there like Giacomo Redondi, who is currently racing cross-country in the US,” said Petrucci.

Interestingly, Petrucci revealed that although Ducati replaced him with Jack Miller for the 2021 season, the Italian marquee was the one who reached out to him regarding the prospect of racing in America.

“I’m happy because it was Ducati that contacted me.

“They did everything to get me. It’s very satisfying. When I left the MotoGP Ducati factory team, I remained on good terms with Claudio Domenicali, Gigi Dall’Igna, Paolo Ciabatti and Davide Tardozzi.

“They pushed to have me in MotoAmerica, and it’s a satisfaction,” he added.

Petrucci isn’t the first ex-MotoGP ride to enter MotoAmerica, with Toni Elias enjoying success after leaving the World Championship.

Danilo Petrucci is making headlines in the 2022 Dakar Rally after finishing 13th overall after Stage 1B.

However, the former MotoGP rider had to be rescued by a helicopter after his KTM 450 Rally broke down, which effectively ended his bid for a good result in his debut.

Nevertheless, another rumour is going around that the ex-Ducati and KTM rider is heading to MotoAmerica for the 2022 season.

The Italian confirmed the news during an interview with Motosan.es.

“After MotoGP and the Dakar, I will go to MotoAmerica,” said Petrucci.

According to rumours, Petrucci will ride onboard a Ducati Panigale V4 R at the American series next season with the HSBK Racing team.

Despite no official confirmation from both parties, Petrucci impending arrival to MotoAmerica will certainly up the level of competition and the race profile of racing in the US.
