Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto secured its first point in Moto3 after Xavier Artigas delivered a Top 10 finished at Lusail, Qatar.

The 18-year-old rider secured 10th place to claim the team maiden Moto3 points of the 2022 season despite starting from 13th.

Fellow teammate Carlos Tatay managed to push himself into the leading group before Sergio Garcia forced the rider wide and crashed.

Although Garcia was penalised for the incident and Tatay could restart, he was later forced to the pitlane.

Nevertheless, Artigas calmly secured CFMOTO Racing PurestelGP’s first point of the season.

“I’m really happy with the whole weekend because I understood the bike and where we need to improve.

“We’ll be ready for the next race after this learning experience, and I want to give many thanks to the team for all their hard work.

“This is just the start,” said the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, Tatay was still in high spirit despite failing to finish his first race of the season for the team and already looking forward to the next stage in Mandalika, Indonesia.

“Overall, I have to be happy because we had a strong pre-season, we worked well and my pace was so good here in Qatar.

“I’m disappointed with the race because when something like that is not your fault, then there is nothing you can do.

“We need to keep focused, keep pushing and go for it in Indonesia. We will maintain our strategy. This is just the first race and we have twenty more to go,” he said.

2018 World Supersport Championship 300 champion, Ana Carrasco has officially returns to Moto3 World Championship, where she competed between 2013 and 2015.

After becoming the first woman to become a world champion in two-wheel racing, Carrasco decided to part ways with Kawasaki and the WorldSSP300.

“Racing is tough, not just on track where people see but also at times like this when you have to make tough decisions.

“My ambition is always to grow as a rider, to set myself new goals that other’s see as impossible and to achieve them.  When my parents bought me my first minibike and then I started racing of course my dream was like any rider “one day I want to be a World Champion”.

” This I achieved in 2018 and even today that feeling is magical; but anyone that understands racing will know that every racer needs to push, to be ambitious and to test themselves again and again.

“This opportunity to ride in Moto3™ is a logical step in my mind even if the emotional step is hard,” said Carrasco in a statement.

Carrasco recently participated in the official Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) test at Jerez as preparation to keep fit before the first pre-season test.

Qianjiang Motorcycle (QJMotor) becomes the second Chinese motorcycle manufacturer to confirm an entry at the 2022 Moto3 World Championship alongside CFMoto.

According to reports, QJMotor will feature at the 2022 Moto3 with a rebrand KTM RC250GP after striking a deal with KTM and Spanish-based Avintia Esponsorama Moto3 team.

The deal is similar to CFMoto whereby the two brands will not be developing their own Moto3 chassis instead, will be competing with KTM’s RC250GP.

The tactic will now account for five of the six manufacturers listed in 2022.

QJMotor Avintia Esponsoroma will run two VR46 Academy proteges, Matteo Bertelle and Elia Bartolini at this year Moto3 world championship.

Meanwhile, CFMoto has joined forces with Prustel GP and fielding 18-year-old Xavier Artigas and Carlos Tatay.

Five-time WorldSSP champion, Kenan Sofuogly, claims that Deniz Oncu two Moto3 race bans by FIM an unfair treatment for the young Turkish rider.

Sofuogly is currently focusing his career on developing young Turkish talent after ending his successful career in 2018.

Among those talents is current WorldSBK title contender Toprak Razgatlioglu and the Oncu brothers Deniz and Can.

However, Deniz Oncu was all over the news during the Moto3 race at Circuit of the Americas.

Oncu swept across to tuck into a slipstream, which contacted Jeremy Alcoba, who fell off his bike. Alcoba’s bike was later struck by Andrea Migno, who caught some air before crashing.

Pedro Acosta was also involved in the pile-up and crash before he flew against the barricade.

While the race was red-flagged with all three riders allowed to restart, the talk of the town was on Oncu as several MotoGP riders reportedly wanted stern action taken against him.

Nonetheless, Sofuoglu says the two penalties were unfair treatment towards Oncu and compared the Moto3 incident to Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in F1.

“We also see in Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport, that people like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen drive very aggressively.

“To be successful, you have to be aggressive. It’s part of this sport. Today drivers complain too much.

“For me, the decision against Deniz is not fair. You have to watch the videos, and I see much more dangerous manoeuvres than Deniz’s.

“For me, the main reason riders complain about my boys is because they are so strong. Because you can’t beat him. So they look for reasons to complain,” he said.

Former Moto3 rider Khairul Idham Pawi will feature at this weekend Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) with TKKR Racing Team.

The announcement was made via TKKR Racing Team Facebook page yesterday.

According to the post, the long-term plan is to prepare Khairul for the 2022 Asian Road Racing Championship (ARRC). However, MSBK will be a quick assessment for the 23-year-old.

TKKR Racing was previously photographed prepping a race bike with the no. 89 which hinted at the return of Khairul Idham Pawi.

MSBK will mark KIP returning to the grid after announcing his retirement last year after he part ways with Petronas Sprint Racing Moto3. The team then replaced KIP for the 2021 season with Darryn Binder.

– BH

Former Moto3 rider Khairul Idham Pawi is set to return to two-wheel racing in Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) 2021.

Despite no confirmation from the 23-year-old rider, KIP looks likely to feature in this year’s MSBK 2021 with TKKR Racing Team.

This is based on the latest posting on Facebook by MSBK, which TKKR Racing Team also shared on their official Facebook page.

The photo unveiled the TKKR Racing Team looking busy prepping a race bike that features the number 89, the same number used by KIP during his time in Moto3 with Petronas Sprinta Racing last season.

KIP also shared a picture of him wearing his racing glove on his Instagram Story, which further fueled the speculation that he is most likely to return to racing at the 2021 MSBK.

Nevertheless, we could only hope for the best for the former two-time Moto3 race winner and looking forward to his long-awaited comeback on the grid.

Jenama motosikal China, CFMoto disahkan bakal menyertai Kejuaraan Dunia Moto3 musim 2022.
