– CycleWorld

LiveWire is targetting an ambitious projection of 101,000 sales within the next four years despite selling only 387 units in 2021.

What began as Harley-Davidson’s first electric motorcycle, the LiveWire, then became the American motorcycle company spin-off brand.

While the bold move garnered a lot of attention, LiveWire got off to a slow start, with just 387 units of the LiveWire One sold globally last year.

However, under the new Jochen Zeitz administration, the company is confident the target of 101,000 sales is achievable with the help of an upcoming model, the LiveWire Del Mar.

The Del Mar – built in partnership with Taiwanese scooter manufacturer Kymco – will join the LiveWire One in the next few months, along with a third model, expected to be introduced by year-end.

While LiveWire retains a modest target at the end of 2024 with just 15,736 units, the company aims to sell more than 50,000 LiveWire models by 2025, leading to 100,000 units by 2026.

As a reference, the parent company, Harley-Davidson, sold more than 200,000 motorcycles in 2021.

At this point, we are unsure whether LiveWire can materialise the sales target, but it does measure the company’s commitment to electrify the future.

Harley-Davidson recently presents the company newest electric initiative with LiveWire as a standalone brand that now focused on building electric mobility.

LiveWire will now take on the industry with its own LiveWire One, a full-blown electric motorcycle that carried Harley-Davidson legacy into the future.

Available for pre-order via LiveWire.com at a price of USD21,999 (RM92k), the LiveWire One offers all the latest features on a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, HD claimed that the One offers the same 105hp and 117Nm found on the 2020 LiveWire, followed by a top speed of 177km/h.

Underneath the chassis sits a 15.4kWh battery unit that offers a range of around 230km, which we think is commendable for an electric bike.

According to HD, it can charge from zero to 80 per cent in 40 minutes or 100 per cent within an hour with a DC fast charger.

Other exciting features include:

  • Show Big Piston separate function front fork
  • Showa balance free cushion-lite monoshock
  • 17″ cast-aluminium wheels
  • dual 4-piston (radial) Brembo monoblock callipers (front)
  • 2-piston single disc setup (rear)

Despite being an electric motorcycle, the bike is equipped with what Harley’s refers to as a ‘heartbeat, that sends a vibration to the rider to mimic the feel of a combustion engine. Pretty cool, eh?

LiveWire reportedly will introduce its first electric model with the name LiveWire One in July.

For those who are not in the loop, LiveWire is a spin-off electric brand from Harley-Davidson that was inspired by the company first electric motorcycle, the LiveWire (obviously).

According to reports, LiveWire has submitted the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with the launch scheduled at July 8.

According to the VIN documents, the LiveWire One will have a power output of 101hp, 4hp less than the Harley-Davidson LiveWire.

However, the VIN filing did not reveal further details except the claimed horsepower.

Nonetheless, we are excited to see how will the LiveWire One turn out to be.
