  • The recall for the 2019 Kawasaki Z900 line-up for a potential ABS issue applies to the US only.

  • There is no notice issued for Malaysian owners yet.

  • The issue arose after improper machining of the ABS pump.

The factory recall for the 2019 Kawasaki Z900 line-up over potential ABS issues is for the American market, only.

BikesRepublic.com has sought the confirmation from Kawasaki Motors (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (KMMSB) over the matter. According to KMMSB, Kawasaki Heavy Industries have not issued a notice on the recall in Malaysia.

The current notice is issued by Kawasaki together with the American National Highway Transport Safety Administration (NHTSA). Therefore, it applies to Z900 line-up owners in the United States, at the moment.

The recall was made after the discovery of improperly machined ABS pump. The machining process has the potential of leaving aluminium debris inside. If this happens, the ABS pump could malfunction and cause the wheel or wheels to lock up.

Kawasaki USA confirmed that 497 units are involved in the recall and will notify the owners. If you are reading this from the United States, you may contact Kawasaki customer service line there 1-866-802-9381 (regarding recall number MC19-01). Please have your VIN ready. You may get in touch with the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 and quote campaign number 19V083000.

  • Kawasaki H2R, H2 Elite Squad attends to the premium H2R and H2 owners

  • Set up with the launch of the Ninja H2R and Ninja H2

  • The Elite Squad transports the Ninja H2R/H2 to the Kawasaki Exclusive Service Centre for expert care and repair

By now, the Kawasaki Ninja H2R and Ninja H2 have established themselves as being the most powerful production motorcycles being sold to the general public.

But the Kawasaki H2R and its H2 sibling are not just about an extremely powerful supercharged engine stuffed into a frame. No, the H2 and H2R represents the pinnacle of mechanical engineering. Being so earns Kawasaki Heavy Industry’s (KHI) revered “River Mark” – the mark of excellence for innovations with historic significance. Kawasaki isn’t wrong when they are promoted as “Built Beyond Belief.”

As such, the track-only H2 and road-going H2R are premium products, hence the owners of the products expect premium service.

In this sense, Kawasaki Motors (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., KESB created the Kawasaki H2R and H2 Elite Squad. The Elite Squad was activated as soon as the first units of the Ninja H2R and Ninja H2 were handed over (click here for our coverage on the ceremony).

A H2R or H2 owner may call 03-5566 5662 to book an appointment. The Kawasaki H2R and H2 Elite Squad will then arrive at a location specified by the owner, pick up the bike and deliver it to the Kawasaki Exclusive Service Centre (KESC) for expert maintenance or repair.

The Elite Squad transports the H2R or H2 inside an enclosed van, to ensure safety and your privacy.

All KESCs are equipped with comprehensive equipment, including special tools and electronic diagnosis equipment that are unavailable at non-official workshops. Similarly, the personnel at KESC are specially trained to handle the maintenance and repair of the special H2R and H2. That in itself is great assurance that your H2R or H2 is well taken care of.

KESB quotes RM159.00 within the first 30km. However, if the owner requires a pick-up service only outside the 30km radius, an additional charge of RM1.38/km is levied; while for pick-up and return service, an additional RM1.17/km is charged.

Moving along outside, there were several smaller vendors present here alongside a vast line up of F&B stalls too. However, all eyes were on the event’s main draw for Saturday, that being its Malaysia Book of Records attempt at organising the largest gathering of Yamaha RX-Z motorcycles.

The move was meant to celebrate the model’s 30th anniversary in Malaysia, and the turn out was indeed impressive. Besides owners from the greater Klang Valley areas, much of the gathering saw the arrival many Yamaha RX-Z owners from out of state too.

Despite the rainy season getting the best of most, the gathering was indeed a success as it charted a record entry with a total of 2,277 Yamaha RX-Zs in the gathering, securing its spot in the record books in the process too.

For those wanting to attend, the 2015 Malaysia 2Wheels Festival is happening until Sunday (tomorrow). Directions to the CIDB Convention Centre can be obtained in the map we’ve attached below.
