Five-time WorldSSP champion Kenan Sofuoglu has announced that he will be retiring after this weekend.

His last race will be this weekend at the Pata Italian Round from 11 to 13 May 2018 in Imola, Italy.

The Turkish rider will be focusing on other things particularly his family and riding school.

If you’re a passionate follower of the WorldSBK and WorldSSP, you would know who Kenan Sofuoglu is. Hailing from Turkey, he has dominated the intermediate class with 43 wins and five championship titles. After this weekend, the champion will be retiring from the sport. (more…)

 

 

  • Juara WorldSSP lima kali, Kenan Sofuoglu telah mengalami kecederaan retak pada tulang pinggulnya di tiga tempat sewaktu sesi kelayakan pada hari Sabtu lalu apabila dia terbabas di Litar Magny Cours di Perancis.
  • Penunggang berusia 33 tahun dari Turki itu sudah hampir pasti melayakkan dirinya di barisan hadapan perlumbaan sebelum dia terbabas dan telah diisytiharkan tidak cergas untuk berlumba disebabkan kecederaan yang ekstensifnya itu.
  • Dengan hanya dua pusingan sahaja yang tinggal untuk musim ini, ianya tidak diketahui sama ada Sofuoglu sempat memulihkan dirinya bagi bertarung kembali untuk takhta kejuaraan WorldSSP 2017 bersama dengan pendahulu semasa, Lucas Mahias dari pasukan GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team.

Five time WorldSSP champion Kenan Sofuoglu suffered a triple hip fracture during Saturday’s qualifying session when he crashed out at the Magny Cours Circuit in France.

The 33 year old Turkish rider was well on his way to a front row start before crashing out and declared unfit to race due to the extensive injury.

With only two rounds remaining, it is uncertain whether Sofuoglu can heal in time to fight for the 2017 WorldSSP title with the current leader, Lucas Mahias from GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team.

The 2016 WorldSSP World Champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) recently missed the last French round at Magny Cours Circuit after crashing out during Saturday’s qualifying session.   • Sesetengah pihak telah mengatakan bahawa format grid terbalik yang terkini dalam WorldSBK tidak membuahkan hasil seperti apa yang telah diharapkan.
  • Rancangannya adalah untuk meletakkan para penamat di atas podium bagi Perlumbaan 1 dalam kedudukan terbalik dari baris yang ketiga dengan harapan yang ianya akan memberikan peluang kepada pasukan dan penunggang namun ianya tidak berjaya.
  • Hampir 94% daripada kedudukan podium setakat ini telah diisi oleh Jonathan Rea dan Tom Sykes dari Kawasaki Racing Team dan juga Chaz Davies dan Marco Melandri dari Aruba.it Racing – Ducati.

Some folks have been arguing that the latest WorldSBK reverse grid format has not been working out as well as they had hoped it would be.

The plan was to get the podium finishers of Race 1 to start in reverse order from the third row in hopes that they would other riders and teams a fighting chance was doomed from the beginning.

Almost 94% of the podium finishes so far has been filled by Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes from Kawasaki Racing Team together with Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri from Aruba.it Racing – Ducati.

According to a recent report made by MCN, the big guns over at WorldSBK are seriously contemplating on whether to scrap the reverse grid system which was introduced into the race series earlier this year. It seems that the format is not working out as well as they had hoped for. (more…)

  • Pusingan keenam dalam siri perlumbaan WorldSBK musim ini berlangsung di Donington Park hujung minggu lalu menyaksikan Tom Sykes dan Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) mendominasi kedua-dua perlumbaan, menyumbang kepada kemenangan yang ke-100 dalam kejohanan ini bagi pasukan itu.
  • Tom Sykes memenangi Perlumbaan 1 diikuti oleh Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) di tempat kedua dan Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Racing) di tempat ketiga.
  • Jonathan Rea bertarung dengan hebat sekali di Perlumbaan 2 dan memenanginya diikuti oleh Tom Sykes dan Chaz Davies.

The sixth round of the WorldSBK race held in Donington Park last weekend saw Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) dominated both races contributing to the team’s 100th win in the championship.

Tom Sykes won Race 1 with Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) in second followed by Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Racing) in third.

Jonathan Rea made an amazing comeback in Race 2 with the win followed by Tom Sykes and Chaz Davies.

It was a clear and landslide victory for both the Kawasaki Racing Team riders this past race weekend during the UK Round of the WorldSBK race held at the legendary Donington Park. After an interesting outcome from Race 1 which saw two of the top podium contenders crashing out, it was Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) aka “The King of Donington” who took the whole shot for Race 1. Out of the 26 riders that went out during the WorldSSP Free Practise 1 session, our hometown hero Zulfahmi Khairuddin managed to secure the fifth fastest position this morning. The testing session was however cut short due to heavy rain conditions. Zulfahmi only managed to complete 11 laps before the weather turned against them. (more…)
