Husqvarna Svartpilen

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 901 has been teased for so long that most do not even remember that they did so.

But now, Husqvarna has posted a teaser for the full “video edit” on 5 March 2024. The 30-second snippet was posted on Husqvarna’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. The 5 March video could well be the teaser to another teaser, but hey, we may just see if it is definitely a Vitpilen (cafe racer) or Svatpilen (scrambler).

The current video shows a bike ice racing with tyres using screws as spikes. The front headlight was teased which looks akin to the Norden 901. Another shot briefly show the (aftermarket) exhaust silencer rising underneath the rear seat a.k.a. the 890 Duke. There is a shot of the front end, which shows off the WP upside down forks and Husqvarna-branded brake caliper. The rear end looks like a Duke, alright.

Of course, Husky being under the Pierer umbrella means it will share the underpinnings of the 890 Duke. That means the LC8c parallel-twin engine which kicks out 121 hp and 99 Nm. Other features will pretty much include the PASC clutch, Supermoto ABS, Ride Modes, Motor Traction Control, TFT screen. Optional extras may well be Quickshifter+, Track Mode, KTM MyRide communication suite, among others.

The Husky lineup has several nice models to choose from but they are missing a big-bore naked retro sportbike. So, that is where the Husqvarna Vitpilen 901 will fall into. However, there is no Vitpilen without a Svartpilen. As such, we can look forward to two new Huskies hitting the roads soon!

According to Husqvarna, this baby Svart is heading for the global market; hence we might have the chance to catch the smallest displacement Svartpilen here in Malaysia.

The 125 is seen as a good move by Husqvarna to extend the brand towards younger motorcyclist.

As you expect, the 125cc single-cylinder, liquid cool with twin overhead camshaft engine is now Euro 5 compliant and produces 15hp at 9,500rpm and 12Nm.

The bike features ByBre disc brakes, WP Apex 43mm front fork (the same you get on its bigger siblings 250 and 401 Svartpilen), WP Apex rear mono-shock, and complete LED light set-up.

Braking is done by Bosch ABS while the machine runs on a pair of 17-inch wheels complete with Pirelli tyres.

Husqvarna listed the dry weight at 146 kilograms and in our book (even with a full tank of gas) this baby Svart is pretty lightweight hence should be relatively easy to manage for younger and newer riders.

Husqvarna just shared the latest teaser via YouTube that confirmed a small displacement motorcycle is coming for 2021.

The 22 seconds teaser showed what looks like a Svartpilen that is scheduled to launch today, February 3.

Why Svartpilen you asked? The glimpse of the handlebars just gave it away since Vitpilen uses clip-on.

We are assuming a downsized version on the Svartpilen perhaps a 125 or 150 due to Husqvarna portray the bike as a beginner-friendly motorcycle meant for younger riders.

Nevertheless, we have to wait for the official launch that is due today, and perhaps we might see a glimpse of the adventure-based Norden 900 too?
