Husqvarna Norden 901

Husqvarna Motorcycles has updated the Norden 901 with what the company calls improved performance and safety thanks to multiple technical enhancements for 2024.

The updated Norden 901 retains the same 889 cc parallel twin engine for 2024. Together with its light steel trellis frame, WP APEX suspension, and multiple ride modes, the Norden 901 continues to offer outstanding comfort, particularly on longer rides when navigating rugged and challenging landscapes as we recently found out when we explored the Korean island of Jeju on the Norden 901.

Husqvarna Motorcycles’ lean-angle sensitive Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) now offers ten different levels of rear wheel slip, which can be selected when the optional Explorer Mode is engaged. With a setting to suit all riding abilities, those with more experience will enjoy drifting through turns while riders new to travel machines will benefit from confidence inspiring traction when negotiating technical corners and unpredictable terrain.

Rounding out the new features found on the Norden 901 2024 are new USB port, the Hazard Warning lights, which can be quickly switched on in the event of an emergency, and the new exhaust system that meets EURO 5+ regulations.

Underlining the premium build quality of the Norden 901, the components used on this versatile machine are all chosen for their performance and durability. The Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, Bosch Cornering ABS, a Power Assist Slipper Clutch (PASC), and multiple ride modes combine to create the ultimate riding experience.

Technical highlights:

  • New grey and yellow graphics create a distinctive appearance
  • Revised Cornering sensitive Traction Control allows for 10 levels of adjustable rear wheel slip with optional Explorer Mode engaged
  • New exhaust system for EURO 5+ compliance
  • New USB port on the side of the dashboard
  • New Hazard Warning system
  • Bosch Cornering ABS
  • Chromium-molybdenum steel frame with engine as stressed member
  • 889 cc parallel-twin engine with 105 hp peak power and 100 Nm of torque
  • Adjustable WP APEX suspension provides exceptional comfort both on and offroad
  • Four selectable ride modes (Street, Rain, Offroad, optional Explorer)
  • Ride-by-wire throttle with adjustable response (in Explorer mode)
  • Standard Easy Shift function (up and down Quickshifter)
  • PASC Slipper clutch
  • Tubeless spoked wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres for balanced performance on and offroad
  • Large capacity, 19-litre fuel tank provides an extended range of up to 400 km
  • Optional Connectivity Unit provides TbT+ navigation, telephone calls in/out and music selection from the rider’s smartphone

“Crap, I may not make this turn, I’m going to make a fool of myself and fall off the bike,” I thought to myself as the group I was riding with suddenly made a hard right U-turn from the tarmac to cobbled stones with a steep drop connecting both terrains.

I was part of a group of riders from South East Asia who were invited to ride the Husqvarna Norden 901 at the romantic island of Jeju, in Korea. I was the only one from Malaysia, so national pride rode on my shoulders as well.

The news regarding the arrival of a more extreme version of Husqvarna’s Norden 901 first broke out in July 2022.

  • An extreme version of Husqvarna’s Norden 901 to land in 2023.
  • The “Expedition” could borrow much of its features from KTM’s 890 Adventure R.

At the time, dealers were given a private showing of a prototype version of the motorcycle.

However, the latest European type-approval documents have confirmed that the motorcycle is set for the 2023 unveiling.

Despite the bike’s first image already making its way to social media, Husqvarna is yet to make any official announcement.

Since the base Norden 901 is based on KTM’s 890 Adventure, we expect the “Expedition” version to use the 890 Adventure R as its basis. That said, it could feature a WP Xplor 48mm inverted front fork with 240mm of travel and a WP Xplor rear shock.

Also, the document confirms that no change is done to the engine meaning the Expedition gets the same 889cc LC8c parallel-twin engine that makes 103hp @ 8,000rpm.

However, the wheelbase is longer due to the longer front fork, while the bike’s overall weight also increases from 220kg to 229kg.

Based on the videos shared on Facebook, the Expedition stands apart from the standard Norden 901 thanks to new paint and graphics, soft luggage and alloy shields.

Calling all adventure riders, the all-new Husqvarna Norden 901 has officially land in Malaysia with a recommended selling price of RM98,800 excluding road tax, insurance and registration.

  • the Norden 901 features the same 890cc parallel-twin engine taken from KTM’s 890 Adventure.
  • Husqvarna claimed the company first ADV bike makes 103hp and 100Nm.

The Norden 901 officially made its bow in November 2021, two years after the Swedish company unveiled the concept at EICMA.

Build based on the KTM 890 Adventure platform, the Norden 901 carries a different styling set than its Austrian cousin.

It has a more extensive body panel than the 890 Adventure, thus making it a proper dual-purpose bike for long-distance touring.

Nonetheless, underneath the fairing sits the same 890cc parallel-twin engine that makes 103hp and 100Nm.
The Norden also features a 21″ front and 18″ rear wheel paired with a tubeless Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR.
Moreover, it also comes equipped with taller suspension travel from the WP APEX suspension setup, 215mm and 220mm, as opposed to KTM’s 200mm.

If you fancy some electronics, the ADV bike comes with three standard riding modes (Rain, Street and Off-Road) but should you fancy ‘exploring the world’, Husqvarna offers the option “Explore” mode. (Which we thinks is another fancy name for Touring mode).

Other exciting features include:

  • quickshifter
  • slipper clutch
  • traction control
  • cornering ABS (with off-road mode)
  • auxiliary LED lights
  • 19L tank

After two years after its concept debut at EICMA, the Husqvarna Norden 901 officially made its bow.

According to Husqvarna, the Norden 901 will be available as a 2022 model year beginning November.

The Husqvarna Norden 901 was first introduced as a concept at the 2019 EICMA, and it quickly gained attraction.

The motorcycle was first spotted in December last year in an all-black form, but this time, there is a pinch of KTM orange at the front fender, which we find odd.

Nonetheless, Husqvarna decided to retain most of the design from the original concept. The circular full-LED headlamp flanked by auxiliary lights helped created an entire identity for the motorcycle.

Based on the KTM 890 Adventure, the Norden 901 packs two-part fuel tanks to increase gravity’s low centre.

The 901 is also expected to be powered by the same 898cc parallel-twin engine, and it could also come with radar assist cruise control found on the 2021 1290 Super Adventure S.

The Husqvarna Norden 901 is expected to be launched sometime this year as a 2022 model.
