Husqvarna E-Pilen

Pierer Mobility AG recent investor presentation reveals the company is currently working on an all-electric motorcycle.

Dubbed the KTM E-Duke, the electric motorcycle is similar to Husqvarna’s E-Pilen Concept unveiled in April last year.

According to reports, the KTM E-Duke will share the same powertrain as the E-Pilen, consisting of the 10kW electric motor and a 5.5kWh fixed lithium-ion battery.

The KTM E-Duke will also share the same platform with the E-Pilen, including a similar claimed range of 100km.

However, the presentation also revealed that the KTM E-Duke would not feature a swappable battery pack even though the company had signed the swappable battery consortium with Honda, Piaggio and Yamaha last year.

Meanwhile, the E-Duke is slated for launch in 2023 alongside the E-Pilen.

Nevertheless, while the E-Duke and E-Pilen offer an entirely different design, we expect the two models to feature the same chassis, specifications, and electronic components, just like the Vitpilen/Svartpilen are based on KTM’s Duke range.

Husqvarna has unveiled its entire electric motorcycle and scooter concept ahead of IAA Mobility Show in Munich.

This is the first time the Swedish company has rolled out all three electric vehicles to the public.

Starting off with the Husqvarna Vektorr, the electric scooter gives out a very futuristic vibe.

While it may look fast, the e-scooter tops at just 45km/h, making it suitable for every range of riders. However, the low speed helps boost the range to 95km, thus ideal for city use.

There’s no word yet what sort of power it uses, but it is unlikely it will carry anything larger than a 3kW motor.

Next is the Husqvarna E-Pilen concept, which was first unveiled back in April.

Compared to the Vektorr, the E-Pilen portrays similar design cues from the gas-powered Svartpilen and Vitpilen, thanks to a circular shape LED headlamp and almost the same tank that now fits three battery setups.

Husqvarna claims the E-Pilen is powered by an 8kW motor capable of delivering a top speed of between 100-120km/h with a maximum distance of 100km.

While both models look promising, there is no guarantee that any of these two-wheelers will make it to the production line anytime soon, but there’s nothing wrong with putting our hopes up.

Bajaj Auto may be planning to introduce another electric two-wheeler to join the current Chetak range available in the country.

This was based on a new trademark filed with the name ‘Freerider’ under Class 12, which covers various mobility types, including electric vehicles.

Since KTM has its own electric motorcycle coincidentally holds the same name, the Freerider E-XC, it further fuels speculation that the Bajaj Freerider will be an electric motorcycle.

According to reports in India, the Bajaj Freerider is likely to use the same platform from the Husqvarna E-Pilen concept, including the chassis and suspension systems.

The E-Pilen is equipped with a 10.73hp electric motor with a range of around 100km, making it suitable for urban rides.

Shortly after announcing the E-Pilen electric motorcycle, Husqvarna pulls the wrap over Vekktor, another electric concept for the future.

Openly intended for urbanites seeking compact and practical personal transportation, the Vekktor concept is Husqvarna first electric scooter.

Husqvarna claimed the Vekktor develops a top speed of 45km/h with a range up to 95km.

Alongside the E-Pilen, the Vekktor projected the company vision for urban electric mobility.

The Vekktor and E-Pilen can be view up close at KTM Motohall in Mattighofen, Austria, including another Husqvarna concept, the Blitz, a foldable electric scooter.

The Vektor and E-Pilen reflect Husqvarna vision to expand zero-emission mobility in the future.

Menurut Husqvarna, E-Pilen mampu pergi sejauh 100km sebelum perlu mengecas semula bateri.

Pierer Mobility AG, the parent company of KTM and Husqvarna, has released its latest investors’ presentation outlining their current status for the year 2020 as well as some plans going into 2021 and 2022. One of the highlights is the market launch for the first Husqvarna electric scooter which will make its debut in 2021. (more…)
