FSR Technology

FSR Technology has announced the second-generation TuneBoss ECU that promised to deliver a powerful result compared to its predecessor introduced back in 2014.

The Gen-2 TuneBoss ECU now features 3-Stage upgrade capabilities that deliver different performances according to the users’ preferences.

However, while it offers various stages, the second generation ECU is now affordable than ever, with the essential Stage-1 cost around RM200 cheaper than the previous generation ECU.

The price for the 2nd-gen TuneBoss ECU now starts at just RM299 (for Yamaha Lagenda and Honda Wave) and RM799 for the Yamaha R25 (compared to RM999 for the 1st-gen TuneBoss ECU).

According to FSR Technology CEO Farhan Ali, the focus for the 2nd-gen ECU was towards reliability and affordability.

“Our focus for the 2nd-gen was to make this technology and reliability more affordable, while at the same time offer new high-end features for more advanced customers.

“To achieve this, our new ECU starts at a significantly lower price but is upgradable three stages.

“When fully upgraded, it has more features and performance than our previous generation ECU,” he said.

Farhan added that users who seek a slight increase of power could opt for the Stage 1 package.

“Stage 1 is good enough for most users that want a bit more oomph out of their machine. Suitable for weekend track warriors who may have some light bolt-on performance bits on their bikes.

“Users who want substantial performance can simply upgrade to Stage 2, which unlocks features such as full fuel and ignition adjustments, Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) control, Throttle Acceleration Compensation and more by just adding RM200 to the basic Stage 1 price.”

Meanwhile, the new generation TuneBoss ECU is also available for the all-new Yamaha Y16ZR and MT15 with a starting price of RM399.

  • FSR Technology, the maker of TuneBoss donated RM 5000 to the #HelmetsOn Campaign.

  • The programme hopes to reach more than 200,000 children in 200 schools and equipping at least 50,000 children with correctly sized helmets.

  • Statistics show currently on 15% of Malaysian children wear proper safety gear while going to school.

FSR Technology, the company behind TuneBoss, recently donated RM5000 to the MyPerintis and BFM Radio’s #HelmetsOn Campaign.

A mock cheque presentation ceremony was held at the BFM radio office, in Menara Ken TTDI between Farhan Ali of FSR Technology to Dato Lawrance Low of MyPerintis on the 20th of November 2019.

“It is a way for us to give back to the community that helped us grow and this campaign allows us to be part of the solution, to help those who need it,” said Farhan, FSR Technology CEO.

In March 2019, MyPerintis, a non-governmental organisation, joined the Ministry of Education to launch a helmet and road safety campaign called the Adiwira Topi Keledar Pilot Programme.

The pilot campaign was a considerable success – distributing 1,500 helmets to 30 primary schools in Kota Bharu, Johor Bharu and Klang Valley, and educating over 27,000 children about the importance of helmets and road safety.

Following the successful pilot programme, the initiative has been renewed with the support of BFM89.9 in hopes of reaching more than 200,000 children in 200 schools nationwide and equipping at least 50,000 children with correctly sized helmets.

The campaign pledges to buy children motorcycle helmets at RM50 each, and to be given out to children in need of the safety device.

Statistics from the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) show that only 15% of Malaysian children wear proper safety gear when riding pillion on their way to school.

  • TuneBoss introduced new products at the 2018 Malaysian MotoGP.

  • The products will unlock the performance potential of stock motorcycles.

  • They include ECUs, quickshifters, electric water pump, fuel injector and fuel pump.

FSR Technology, our own Malaysian electronic tuning experts, revealed a range of new TuneBoss products at the recent 2018 Malaysian MotoGP.

The new products are:
  1. High-performance ECUs;
  2. ShiftBoss quickshifters;
  3. CoolBoss electric water pump kit;
  4. Racing fuel injector;
  5. Racing fuel pump kit.
High-performance ECUs

There are four models specifically optimized for the Yamaha YZF-R15, Yamaha NMAX 155, Honda CBR250R and Honda CRF250. TuneBoss will announce the ECUs for motorcycle models based on the same platforms at a later date.

The price range of the new products are expected to be “within range of existing products.”

ShiftBoss quickshifters

Quickshifters are in demand from almost all current motorcyclists. TuneBoss responds by introducing the ShiftBoss for the Yamaha YZF-R25 and Honda RS150R. Unlike most aftermarket quickshifters, ShiftBoss includes a new load sensor for more precise gear shifts.

The new ShiftBoss products will be sold alongside current models and are priced between RM600 to RM800.

CoolBoss electric water pump kit

Traditional and stock water pumps rely on engine speed to circulate coolant. As such, the flow rate may not be sufficient, especially in the heat (pun intended) of competition.

The new CoolBoss electric water pump kit consists of an electric brushless water pump and smart algorithms to control the functions of the fan according to engine load and cooling needs. Such functions prolong the engine and engine oil lifespan.

Parasitic loss is also reduced. TuneBoss claims the CoolBoss kit gains 0.3 to 0.5 bhp throughout the rev range besides fuel savings.

The product will be available for the Yamaha YZF-R25 only from next year. It should be available for other motorcycles later.

TuneBoss Racing Fuel Injector

This product has been available in the market for a number of months now. This 370cc injector provides a super high flow rate with ultra-linear control. The injector is good for 15 to 40 bhp applications and is compatible with the Yamaha Y15ZR (1stmodel) and Yamaha FZ150i MY 2014 and MY 2016.

TuneBoss Racing Fuel Pump Kit

This product is an integrated system consisting of fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel lines and fuel injector. The kit was specifically developed for the Open Drag Bike Category. Racing fuel is allowed in this category.

The stainless-steel tank has a capacity of 3 litres and is specially treated to resist corrosion from racing fuels such as the Elixir Powered E85R or K2.

Conclusion

All the above add-on products are compatible with TuneBoss ECUs. They have been tested in various drag events and at the Sepang International Circuit before being made available to the buying public.

  • TuneBoss engine ECUs are for tuning fuel-injected motorcycle engines.

  • It is used to unlock your motorcycle engine’s true potential.

  • Now a lucky customer will walk away with a newYamaha Y15ZR.

TuneBoss provides ECUs to enhance the performance of your motorcycle’s engine.

The fuel injection timing and amount, besides ignition spark timing and advance are controlled by the engine electronic control unit (ECU). While it is electronic, the tuning or more accurately, mapping has been pre-set by the manufacturer to provide compromises between outright power, fuel economy, emissions, engine longevity and other factors. It could be said that only a fraction of the engine’s full capability is utilized due to those compromises.

In order to retune the engine, you could use performance ECUs like those from TuneBoss.

And now its creator, FSR Technology wants to giveaway a brand new Yamaha Y15ZR.

The lucky draw will be held in conjunction with the 2018 Yamaha YZF-R25 Gathering at the Speedway Plus Circuit on 7th July 2018.

All customers stand a chance to win the grand prize. To complete the entry, you only need to follow the instructions in the “TuneBoss Bike Giveaway” post on Facebook.

The winner will be randomly picked via Facebook “Live” according to the ECU’s serial number. Proof of ownership is required by providing the receipt, ECU, warranty card and the product box to prevent entry by using stolen units.

This is not the first time FSR Technology has given away a motorcycle. Last year, Muhammad Zulhanif Hamidon won a TuneBoss-equipped Honda RS150R in a competition organised by the tech company.

FSR Technology was founded in 2011 by Farhan and Sufian, both electronic engineers. Their vision is to build a company based on “Research & Development” for leading product design.

It took them three years for the R&D work to produce TuneBoss ECU which was made possible through self-financing and also supported by a development grant from the Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, an agency under the Ministry of Finance.

The guys in FSR Technology are real teasers, last week they released a picture and some information on their FB page about a standalone programmable ecu called Tuneboss for the Yamaha FZ150i and Lagenda.

Yesterday they were at it again but this time even worst, posting a picture of the Tuneboss and an android phone next to it which had what looks like an app to connect to the Tuneboss wirelessly and thats it.

Now the boys are a bit tight lip about releasing more information than what they already have right now, before the actual launch which is in a few weeks. But luckily we have our ways to get more info, unconfirmed of course as its not directly form FSR Technology themselves but close enough. Never underestimate the power of “teh tarik”. You just have to love Malaysians, we’re so easy that way.

So far from what we can gather is that users can connect to the Tuneboss wirelessly to their android phone for wireless tuning capability, even the full tuning app on the pc will be using the same wireless connection. But not mentioned is what type of wireless which could eitherbe Bluetooth or wifi.

The phone app will have fuel, ignition, rpm limiter adjustment, including advanced diagnostics which means, theres no need to look at the silly blinking engine light like on the original factory diagnostic tool, it will tell you exactly what the problem is.

Thats it for now, or until FSR Technology do another teaser before the launch.
