Fantic

Fantic’s Caballero bikes are getting a makeover for 2024, bringing in some cool new features while keeping their classic look. These bikes, the Caballero 125 and 500, are known for their rugged, retro style and powerful single-cylinder engines.

Even though the outside looks the same with that cool, vintage design – there are some awesome changes inside. One big update is the super-bright LED headlight with 24 LEDs, making it easy to see on even the darkest roads. The turn signals and tail light also use LED technology, making it more visible when it’s not so bright out.

Inside the cockpit, where you control everything, there’s a new 4-inch LCD display. This display shows you important things like what gear you’re in, how fast you’re going, and the temperature. Plus, you can connect your smartphone to it through Bluetooth, so you won’t miss any calls or notifications while you’re cruising.

In terms of power, the engine got a bit of a tune-up to make it run even smoother. The Caballero 500 got a new map to make the throttle response better. The 125 still has the Minarelli engine with variable valve timing.

But it’s not just about looking good and going fast. They’ve made the Caballero lighter and more agile. The 2024 models have a new aluminum swingarm, which is both stronger and lighter than the old steel one. The Caballero 500 now weighs just 149 kilograms without fuel, making it one of the lighter bikes in its class.

The bikes come with dual-channel ABS, which you can turn off if you want to go off-road. There’s also a new app called Fantic Garage, where you can control and monitor your bike’s features and maintenance using your smartphone.

Both bikes will be launched in 2024. As for when they will be introduced in Malaysia, there really is no telling. We first reported about the setting up of the company back in 2022, and a quick check online has shown that the company has been registered. But there has been no news since then, so it is unclear if the bikes will be made available in Malaysia.

The renowned Italian brand Fantic, recognized for its off-road machines and retro scramblers such as the Caballero 700, has taken a distinctive turn towards a track-focused venture with its latest unveiling at EICMA.

Named after Italy’s iconic racing venue, the Imola introduces a lightweight and advanced sports bike, featuring a Yamaha heart and high-end chassis components. Powering the Imola is a 125cc, four-stroke, four-valve engine akin to the one found in Yamaha’s MT-125 and YZF-R125. With 15bhp, making it learner license-friendly, the engine is only one facet of this exciting new bike.

Fantic’s foray into Moto2 racing in 2023 has significantly influenced the Imola’s design, especially in the construction of its frame. The Imola 125 boasts a hybrid frame incorporating both steel and aluminum, with a full aluminum swingarm. The bike’s suspension is fully adjustable at both ends, complemented by high-performance Brembo brakes. Enhancing safety features, the advanced IMU control system provides cornering ABS and lean-sensitive traction control, notable additions in the 125cc category.

However, the Imola’s status as a ‘track concept’ raises uncertainty about its potential production version. The final specifications and features of the road-ready model may differ significantly from the showcased concept.

In addition to the Imola, Fantic presented a more practical option at the exhibition, known as the Stealth (Above). Sharing the same frame and engine platform as the Imola, the Stealth presents a more production-ready appearance. As depicted in the images released by Fantic, the Stealth offers a glimpse of a mature and refined machine, potentially setting a new standard in its category.

Fantic and Motori Minarelli have officially begun production on the Issimo City electric scooter at the Calderara di Reno factory.

  • The Issimo City electric scooter line includes the L1 and L3 variants, both powered by a Dell’Orto 3-kilowatt motor.
  • Fantic and Motori Minarelli have begun production of the Issimo City electric scooter in the Calderara di Reno factory.

The production launch was celebrated with the presence of important local officials, including Emilia-Romagna Region Economic Development Councilor Vincenzo Colla, Bologna mayor Marco Panieri.

The Issimo City electric scooter is the result of Fantic’s acquisition of Motori Minarelli from Yamaha in January 2021. The acquisition allowed the Bologna-based firm to lay the groundwork for its transition to electric mobility models. Now, more than three years later, Fantic and Motori Minarelli are reaping the fruits of their labour.

The Issimo City electric scooter line includes the L1 and L3 variants, both powered by a Dell’Orto 3-kilowatt motor. The L1 model has a maximum speed of 45 kilometers per hour (28 miles per hour), while the L3 model can reach up to 65 km/h (40 mph). The standard 2.2-kilowatt-hour battery yields 72 kilometers (44.8 miles), and the 4.4 kWh option extends the range to 140 km (87 miles).

According to Motori Minarelli General Manager Vittorino Filippas, Fantic and Motori Minarelli are not caught unprepared for the opportunity presented by the increasing demand for sustainable mobility.

He said, “People’s sensitivity towards more sustainable mobility will further accelerate the demand for light mobility. Fantic Motor and Motori Minarelli do not want to be caught unprepared for the opportunity this challenge presents us with. Indeed, as early as 2023, 50% of vehicle production will be entirely electric.”

The Calderara di Reno factory can manufacture up to 100 units per day, which means that Issimo City production is capped at 20,000 units in the first year alone. The Emilia-Romagna Region has shown its support for Fantic’s electrical project, which relaunched the historic Bolognese brand Motori Minarelli.

This support has helped Fantic become one of the beneficiaries of regional law 14 on attractiveness, which focuses on sustainable innovation and creating new employment opportunities.

Fantic Motor has launched the company first electric scooter in Europe.

  • The Electric made its debut at the EICMA show in November.
  • The Electric is essentially a beefy version of the Issimo pedal bike.

Called the Fantic Electric, the scooter is built based on the existing Issimo pedal electric bike but features beefier bodywork.

Fantic also showcased the electric motorcycle back in November at the 2022 EICMA show.

According to the Italian company, the Electric is equipped with a 4hp motor housed in an aluminium alloy  trellis chassis and can hit a max speed of 65km/h.

Also, underneath the saddle sits a 12kg battery capable of producing 2.2kWh.

Meanwhile, stopping power comes from a single 220mm disc at the front and a 180mm disc at the rear.

Unfortunately, Fantic is yet to disclosed the charging time and the max range at the moment.

EICMA motorcycle show brings you all the latest and upcoming production models to get you excited for the forthcoming year.

  • Ducati Diavel has been crowned the most beautiful bike at EICMA.
  • The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S and Fantic Caballero 700 took second and third place, respectively.

The best part is, at the end of the event, visitors are required to pick one bike to be crowned the most beautiful motorcycle of the event.

A reputable Italian publication, Motociclismo is the responsible party behind the voting and has been doing so since 2005.

*Ducati Diavel V4

That said, for 2022, visitors of EICMA have voted the all-new Ducati Diavel V4 as the most breathtaking bike above all else.

The Diavel V4 took the win with an impressive 36.3 per cent out of 22,880 total votes collected. Meanwhile, another Italian Moto Guzzi comes second with 13.2 per cent with the all-new V100 Mandello S.

Surprisingly, the Fantic Caballero 700 took the third spot with 11.1 per cent of the vote.

The remaining seven are as follows:

  • Triumph Street Triple 765 R
  • Honda XL750 Transalp
  • Benelli TRK800
  • Suzuki GSX-8S
  • Vespa GTS 300
  • Moto Morini X-Cape
  • Brixton Cromwell 1200
*Honda XL750 Transalp

On that note, the award has always gone to an Italian-made motorcycle, with Ducati winning it ten times, followed by MV Agusta (five times).

Fantic debuted an all-new XEF Rally Replica, marking the Italian company’s first attempt towards the race replica market.

  • Fantic XEF Rally is the company first foray into the race replica segment.
  • Features 30L fuel tank, 450cc single engine derived from Fantic’s Dakar Rally.

Similar to KTM and GASGAS, the XEF Rally Replica is developed based on Fantic’s Dakar experience.

Powering the Fantic XEF Rally is a 450cc single-cylinder DOHC engine that sits in a double girder frame with an aluminium front and steel subframe.

As an enduro machine, the XEF Rally is fitted with a massive 30L fuel tank. Interestingly, the tank is separated into two, with the first providing shock protection while the other contributing to the bike’s ergonomics.

The XEF Rally is suspended by fully adjustable KYB 48mm front forks and fully adjustable KYB rear shocks. The suspension offers 310mm wheel travel at the front and 300mm at the rear.

Meanwhile, Fantic also fitted the XEF Rally with a 7-inch shock, dust and waterproof RallyScreen that can be accessed via a touchscreen and controls on the handlebar.

In addition, the RallyScreen is easily removable, allowing riders to program the information on the screen remotely.

Braking is done via a single Moto-Master brake calliper mated to a 300mm front disc and a single 245mm disc at the rear.

Coming in at just 140kg of kerb weight and a seat height of 955mm puts the XEF Rally just 2kg heavier than KTM’s 450 Rally Replica.

That said, Fantic will also release a limited number (50 units) of XEF Rally’ Launch Edition’ that features unique components, including CNC billet wheel hubs and full titanium Arrow exhaust that shaved 1.5kg off the overall weight.

The Fanctic XEF Rally will be available from the end of November 2022.

The 2022 GIVI Rimba Raid witnessed hundreds of off-road capable motorcycle racing against one another at the Taman Negara, Kuala Tahan, Pahang, last weekend.

  • Fantic Motor to be distributed in Malaysia by Fantic Motor Malaysia.
  • The Fantic Caballero 500 Rally managed to secured a fourth place finished in Class C – DP Rally.

Out of 223 participants, only a handful managed to cross the finish line, including a 500cc scrambler from Italy.

That particular motorcycle is Fantic Motor’s latest bike, the Caballero 500 Rally.

*Hazim Hayazi clocked the fourth fastest time in Class C – DP Rally onboard the Fantic Caballero 500 Rally.

From what we could gather, the appearance of Fantic’s Caballero 500 Rally is not purely for racing purposes; instead, the brand is using Rimba Raid as a platform to test the capabilities of the new motorcycle.

This is because Fantic Motor is coming to Malaysia under the newly established Fantic Motor Malaysia.

While information is still scarce, we believe that AFY Mobility Industries Sdn Bhd (AMI) is the responsible party in bringing the Italian brand to Malaysia.

Fantic Motor has various motorcycles under its wing, ranging from 125cc up to 500cc. The Caballero 500 has four variants, including Rally, Explorer, Flat and Scrambler.

Powering the Caballero 500 Rally is a 449cc single-cylinder engine capable of producing 40hp and 42Nm.

While the new development is exciting for the Malaysian motorcycle market, further details can only be confirmed by Fantic Motor Malaysia. Nevertheless, we expect an official announcement to be made soon.

AMI was also recently announced as the official distributor of MV Agusta in Malaysia, with the company set to assemble the Italian firm’s motorcycle in the country.

Italian manufacturer, Fantic has officially unveiled the Caballero 500 at EICMA.

The new adventure-ready motorcycle will join the already available 125cc and 250cc variants.

According to the Italian firm, the Fantic Caballero Explorer makes 40hp and 42Nm from its 449cc single-cylinder engine and sends its power to the rear wheel via a 6-speed manual transmission.

Meanwhile, the Explorer also features an adjustable long-travel inverted front fork and a rear monoshock with an external reservoir.

The motorcycle also comes equipped with a high fender, high-mounted exhaust pipes, and circular headlights to complete the ‘adventure’ look.

Other exciting features include:

  • luggage carrier with side pannier rack
  • fly screen
  • upswept handlebars
  • two-up saddle

According to Fantic, the new motorcycle will hit European showrooms in Q1 2022.
