Fabio Quartararo

Berikut keputusan penuh perlumbaan:

“Saya bermula baik tetapi selepas dua lap sahaja, tekanan tayar depan naik mendadak.

Fabio Quartararo began the defence of his 2021 MotoGP title with the Official MotoGP Sepang Test at Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

Despite ending Day 1 & 2 as the fastest Yamaha rider on the track, Quartararo was still behind two or more Ducati machinery on the grid.

Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro emerged as the fastest rider on Day 1, while Enea Bastianini clocked the quickest time on Day 2 onboard the one-year-old Ducati GP21.

The result could frustrate Quartararo, who was notably outperformed by Ducati bikes during the latter rounds of last year.

It also led to Quartararo asking Yamaha to extract more speed from the factory M1 in the hope to quell the threat of Ducati, especially on the straights.

However, while Quartararo’s top speed of 332.3km/h looked strong, he admitted to out-braked himself coming through the speed trap.

“I wanted more horsepower, but at the end we can’t just invent [more horsepower].

“If we have it, it’s better. But if we don’t, it’s not useful to say all the time that it’s missing power.

“If you have no power, you adapt yourself, like I did in the past. If we need to adapt, we’re going to adapt,” he said.

Yamaha is known for its agility; however its unwavering approach to ensuring the M1 remains the sweetest handling on the grid at the expense of power has come in for criticism in recent years, from the likes of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.

Some time ago, Scorpion was almost unknown to the motorcycle industry. Still, the company rose to the spotlight after it became the helmet of choice for 2021 MotoGP world champion Fabio Quartararo.

While Quartararo will continue to wear the company’s helmet for the 2022 season, Scorpion has revamped its range of helmets for the new year, especially its ever-popular ADX-1 modular adventure helmet.

After five years in the market, Scorpion decided to update its popular modular ADV helmet with the ADX-2.

According to Scorpion, the ADX-2 offers better comfort and increased safety as the helmet now meets ECE 22.06 standard after undergoing a more stringent test process.

The ECE 22.06 compliant also means that the ADX-2 received double P/J homologation, making it safe to wear the helmet with the chin-bar up.

Nonetheless, the ADX-2 maintains the same versatility as its predecessor, whereby the helmet can be worn in various ways to suit the rider riding style. The peak is detachable to suit the riders need and can also act as an open face helmet with the chin-bar up.

The Scorpion ADX-2 also offers a detachable and washable interior, retractable sun visor and multi-channel ventilation system. The visor is also Pinlock ready and compatible to wear with an intercom.

According to Scorpion, the ADX-2 is available for EUR249.99 (RM1,2k).

2021 MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo hopes that Yamaha will keep the best for Sepang test as the team pushes for more top speed and aerodynamics.

Despite taking the 2021 crown, the Frenchman slowly began to feel the pressure from Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia.

The Italian recorded five-pole and four wins towards the end of the season and even had the chance to topple Quartararo dominance before crashing out at Misano.

Yamaha major engine updates are currently in the pipeline, and while other competitors have started testing their new machine at Jerez, Quartararo’s new bike will only arrive at next year’s Sepang test.

“Well, we tried a similar bike to Misano [test]. To be honest, it was the bike as Misano.

“For me, we are looking for a little bit – not corner speed – but a little bit more turning in the slow corners.

“More work needs to be done to feel an improvement, but as you can imagine, the bike is the first step, and we hope for much better in Sepang,” said Quartararo, who set the ninth-fastest time in Day 1 at Jerez.

Fabio Quartararo has been crowned the 2021 MotoGP World Champion after closest rival Francesco Bagnaia crashed out of the Misano lead with just four laps to go.

Bagnaia needed to outscore Monster Energy Yamaha rider by three points to keep the championship title fight alive and was set on course to do it as he led from pole for the first 22 laps.

However, a mistake at Turn 15 ended all of the Italian hopes as he crashed, which also paved the way for 6-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez to win the Misano round.

Quartararo managed to make his way up to 3rd place before losing his spot to the emerging Enea Bastianini, who took the last spot on the podium behind Pol Espargaro.

Meanwhile, Quartararo delivered Yamaha’s first MotoGP world title since Jorge Lorenzo’s 2015 championship win.

At the end of the race, the former Petronas Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider was also congratulated by Malaysian team principal Datuk Razlan Razali and team manager Johan Stigefelt.

Quartararo spent two seasons with SRT’s before moving to the factory seat this season.

Marc Marquez reclaims his seat as the King of COTA with a seventh premier class win in Austin and his second of the season.

Marquez was back to his brilliant best, leading the race as early as Turn 1 despite starting from third place.

Meanwhile, championship leader Fabio Quartararo took second place, which means he will have the chance to take the world championship title in Misano as his closest rival, Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia could only finish third.

Nonetheless, it was a sensational performance by Marquez, who took his second win of the season and reclaiming his title as the true ‘King of COTA’ with seven wins, seven podiums and seven poles in eight appearances at the Texan track.

The 28-year-old also delivered Repsol Honda 450th podium in the premier class.

MotoGP returns to COTA for the first time since 2019 as the track undergoing serious resurfacing work on around 40% of the track consisting of Turn 1-2, 9-10 and 16-19 in an effort to alleviate bumps.

MotoGP will return later this month for the second time in Misano.

Current MotoGP championship leader Fabio Quartararo has been hit with a total of 6-second penalty at the GP Catalunya.

The race saw Miguel Oliveira took his first win of the season after a fierce battle against Quartararo before Johann Zarco overtook his fellow Frenchman to finished second.

Quartararo had to settle for third place before Race Direction slapped a 3-second penalty due to a ‘shortcut at Turn 1-2’, thus seeing him losing his place to Ducati’s Jack Miller.

However, after further investigation, Quartararo was hit with another 3-second penalty, this time for finishing the last 3-laps with an open racing suit while also caught throwing away his chest protectors.

The initial penalty dropped the factory Yamaha ride to 4th place while the new penalty demotes the Frenchman to 6th in classification.

The situation now reduces his title lead from 17 to 14 points ahead of Zarco.

Fabio Quartararo dedicated his third win of the season to Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier, who succumbed to injuries sustained in qualifying.

The race was preceded by a minute of silence in memory of 19-year-old Dupasquier, as Race Direction announced his passing at the end of the Moto3 race.

Despite starting from pole, Quartararo was under heavy onslaught by Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia; however, the Italian rider was out of contention in the second lap due to an unforced error.

From that moment onwards, Quartararo marvels his way throughout the entire race with peerless performance, taking every corner with amazing speed to secure his third win of the season after six rounds.

“I’m very emotional. It’s very difficult today. It wasn’t easy to stay on the track. Every time I went past where he crashed, I was thinking about Jason Dupasquier.

“It’s not easy to manage the situation when you are at 340km/h, and you have to concentrate. This race for him” expressed Quartararo.

Meanwhile, KTM rider Miguel Oliveira took his first podium of the season by crossing the line 2.5 seconds behind Quartararo, followed by Joan Mir at third.

There was confusion at the end of the race as Race Direction declared the two exceeding track limits before reinstating Oliveira and Mir positions.

Mir shared his takes on the emotional race.

“There’s no preparation for it. Every one of us – more the riders, we feel this more than others because we can empathise a lot with this type of thing, because a lot of times we forget what can happen.

“We have to respect each other a lot, always to be responsible, and don’t forget that this is a dangerous sport.

“So all the strength that I can give to the family. It was a difficult day today at the office,” he said.

Berikut keputusan penuh perlumbaan GP Itali:

Fabio Quartararo recorded his fourth consecutive pole position in style at Mugello ahead of Sunday’s Italian GP.

The factory Yamaha rider displayed incredible speed to clinch pole position with 1m 45.187s, breaking the lap record set by Francesco Bagnaia in FP3 with 1m 45.456s.

“This was probably the best lap I have ever done in my life.

“This is the type of track where you can feel the adrenaline. I was on the limit everywhere. In the first sector, I was moving all the time, but I just said, ‘I’m going to send it.

“Today was a good day. I really wanted this pole position because I know it’s important for us for the race,” said Quartararo.

Meanwhile, Bagnaia and Johann Zarco will accompany Quartararo at the front row after securing P2 and P3, respectively.

Despite struggling with a group of riders seeking a slipstream, Zarco managed to move up from twelfth place, thus putting him in an excellent spot to continue chasing the championship points.

Aleix Espargaro secured another impressive start to the season by coming in at P4, his best qualifying result so far onboard the RS-GP.

Jack Miller is also looking to continue his back-to-back wins in Jerez and Le Mans from P5 on the grid.
