Ray 7.7 is the latest electric motorcycle to appear in Europe as a 125cc-equivalent electric scooter.

  • Ray is an electric motorcycle brand based in Spain.
  • Ray 7.7 is a 125cc-equivalent electric scooter.

Interestingly, despite the compact design similar to most of its rivals, the Ray 7.7 scooter can hit 150km range from the combined city and highway riding.

That range is thanks to a 7.7kWh battery, while the 10.7kW (14.2hp) can push to Ray 7.7 to a top speed of 125kph.

On that note, the Ray 7.7 only needs four hours and 20 minutes to fully charge with a standard house socket, while with the fast charger, the battery can be filled in just two hours and 35 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Ray 7.7 is built around a tubular steel chassis with hydraulic front forks and dual nitrogen rear shocks with 95mm travel.

Braking is done by axial-mount dual-piston callipers and CBS (combine brake system) with 260mm disc at the front and 220mm disc at the back.

Those brakes have some work to do as the scooter weighs 165kg dry.

Now we come to the availability and pricing. The base model costs EUR8,500 (RM39.3k), but after throwing in all the options, including a fast charger, Type 2 connector, windscreen and the top box, the Ray 7.7 comes to EUR9,8000 (RM45k).

The massive price tag for a 125cc-equivalent motorcycle is a significant letdown but considering that it is currently only available in Spain, we don’t see the Ray 7.7 making its way to Asia anytime soon.

Taiwan motorcycle manufacturer, Kymco has dropped the company’s latest patent drawings of the highly anticipated RevoNEX electric motorcycle.

  • The latest leak confirms the bike’s ABS.
  • The previous patent leaked shows that the RevoNEX will feature Ohlins suspensions and Brembo brakes.

Kymco has been known as a scooter-maker, with the Ionex i-One as the most recent product introduced by the company.

While the company builds its scooter range in Taiwan, production for the upcoming RevoNEX will be done in Italy.

However, the bike has yet to enter production after more than two years.

Nevertheless, the latest patent leaks have confirmed that the geared electric motorcycle is indeed on its way, and this time it tells us that the RevoNEX will feature an ABS.

We know from the previous leaks that the RevoNEX will feature Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes, but thanks to the latest report by Super Moto 8, it is confirmed that those brakes will feature ABS.

The ABS will be positioned at the front of the bike and sits above the electric motor and in front of the battery.

Although the patent drawings did not show a gearbox, the report suggests it will appear on the final drawings later.

Currently, Kymco is still keeping mum about the official launch date but looking at how the progress is moving at a steady pace; we think it might take a couple of years before we could see it in production.

LiveWire is targetting an ambitious projection of 101,000 sales within the next four years despite selling only 387 units in 2021.

What began as Harley-Davidson’s first electric motorcycle, the LiveWire, then became the American motorcycle company spin-off brand.

While the bold move garnered a lot of attention, LiveWire got off to a slow start, with just 387 units of the LiveWire One sold globally last year.

However, under the new Jochen Zeitz administration, the company is confident the target of 101,000 sales is achievable with the help of an upcoming model, the LiveWire Del Mar.

The Del Mar – built in partnership with Taiwanese scooter manufacturer Kymco – will join the LiveWire One in the next few months, along with a third model, expected to be introduced by year-end.

While LiveWire retains a modest target at the end of 2024 with just 15,736 units, the company aims to sell more than 50,000 LiveWire models by 2025, leading to 100,000 units by 2026.

As a reference, the parent company, Harley-Davidson, sold more than 200,000 motorcycles in 2021.

At this point, we are unsure whether LiveWire can materialise the sales target, but it does measure the company’s commitment to electrify the future.
