Ducati Streetfighter V4

Meskipun telah didedahkan lebih awal di Ducati World Premier 2020, namun Ducati Streetfighter V4 tetap muncul sebagai jentera paling cun di EICMA 2019.

Media Itali, Motociclismo telah menjalankan sesi pengundian kali ke-15 bagi mengenal pasti jentera mana yang paling cantik di EICMA.

Keputusan pengundian membuktikan rata-rata pengunjung dan orang ramai menjadikan Streetfighter V4 jentera pilihan.

Motociclismo kemudiannya menjadikan pentas MotoLive di EICMA untuk menganugerahkan Ducati – yang diwakili pengarah rekaan Andrea Ferraresi dan pereka Streetfighter V4, Jeremy Faraud – anugerah jentera paling cantik di EICMA 2019.

Jentera baharu itu mencatat 36.7 peratus pengundian diikuti Aprilia RS660 kedua dengan 14.9 peratus.

Tempat ketiga jadi milik MV Augusta Superveloce 800 dengan 11.23 peratus manakala Honda CBR1000RR-R SP menduduki tempat keempat dengan 9.43 peratus dan Moto Guzzi V85TT Travel kelima dengan 4.76 peratus.

Bayangkan sebuah Ducati Panigale V4 yang telah ‘dibogelkan’ – demikian kenyataan yang paling mudah untuk mengambarkan Ducati Streetfigter V4 2020 yang dilancarkan di Ducati World Premier (DWP) 2020, di Rimini, hari ini.

Mengapa dibogelkan? Kerana disebalik rupa luaran Streetfighter V4 yang menampilkan ciri sebuah motosikal jenis naked, jentera ini menghasilkan 208 hp – kurang 6 hp daripada Panigale V4 – pada 12,750rpm dan 123Nm pada 11,500rpm.

“208 hp bagi sebuah jentera naked”

Hadamkan kenyataan itu, kerana itulah yang ditawarkan Streetfighter V4 bagi semua peminat jentera dua roda di seluruh dunia.

Meskipun Ducati telah ‘merendahkan’ kuasa yang dihasilkan enjin 1100cc Desmosedici Stradale, tidak dapat dinafikan angka itu masih terlalu tinggi.

Menyedari perkara ini, Streetfighter V4 didatangkan dengan ‘biplane wings’ dan pakej elektronik menyeluruh bagi memastikan jentera ini kekal berpijak di bumi nyata dan bukannya melayang ke awangan.

Rekaan bahagian depan pula diinspirasikan daripada watak Joker – antagonis ikonik di bandar Gotham. Jadi tidak hairanlah, rupa keseluruhan Streetfighter V4 tampak jahat.

Rekaan Ducati juga ditonjolkan pada lampu depan DRL yang terdapat pada Panigale V4 dan Supersport.

Menariknya bagi model ini, bahagian enjin tampak lebih ketara dengan penggunaan kerangka yang minimalis.

Bagi mengekalkan DNA Streetfighter, bahagian ‘handlebar’ clip-on telah digantikan dengan ‘handle’yang lebih tinggi dan lebar termasuk foot peg yang lebih agresif sehingga Ducati sendiri secara jujurnya memaklumkan kedudukan Streetfighter V4 tidak selesa yang diharapkan.

Jika 208 hp tidak cukup, Ducati menawarkan ekzos Ducati Performance oleh Akrapovic yang akan meningkatkan kuasa kepada 220 hp di samping mengurangkan 6 kg berat.

Bagi yang bimbang akan kehilangan kawalan jentera buas ini, Streetfighter V4 didatangkan dengan beberapa pakej elektronik:

  • ABS Cornering EVO
  • Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2
  • Ducati Slide Control (DSC)
  • Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO
  • Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
  • Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2

Seperti barisan Ducati lain, Streetfighter V4 juga didatangkan dengan tiga mod tunggangan – Street, Sport dan Race – namun kami berasakan setiap mod ini sebenarnya merujuk kepada Gila, Gila Sangat dan Gila B***.

Bagi yang inginkan keterujaan yang lebih tinggi, Ducati turut menawarkan Streetfighter V4 S yang menawarkan beberapa ciri premium antaranya:

The most anticipated bike of the year, the 2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4 was just launched at the Ducati World Premiere 2019.

And as promised by the manufacturer, the bike is a powerhouse that would scare off sportbikes. In case you missed the teaser video, the 1100cc Desmosedici Stradale engine punches out an unholy (for a naked bike) 208 bhp at 12,500 RPM, 122.6 Nm of torque of 11,500 RPM.

If those figures are awesome, think about the weight: 178 kg dry. That gives the bike a 1.17 bhp/kg power-to-weight ratio, which some sportbikes could only envy. As a matter of fact, Ducati aimed for 25% more power over their closest competitor.

However, there’s a Streetfighter V4 S model and it produces 216 bhp!

The full specs are just filtering through at the moment. But among other things is the electronics suite which is shared with the Panigale V4.

And just like the Panigale V4 S, the Streetfighter V4 S uses the amazing Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension.

But it has something which only the Panigale V4 R has: Winglets. Make that twice the V4 R’s winglets. The Streetfighter has four of them!

Ducati also released the prices. The standard bike costs €19,990 while the “S” is at €22,990.

Jentera tersebut turut mencetus kontroversi di Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) apabila meragut nyawa pelumba, Carlin Dunne, yang dipertanggungjawabkan untuk menguji jentera tersebut, Julai lalu.

The Italian manufacturer has uploaded a 2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4 teaser video on Twitter.

The video shows the bike’s headlamp profile and flashes through the features and some specifications.

First of all, the V-four engine will be known as the Desmosedici Stradale, just like the Panigale V4’s. “Desmosedici” means “desmodromic V-four” while “Stradale” means road, all in Italian.

Next, the video says “biplane wings.” These are the winglets similar to the Panigale V4 R’s.

It also says “Panigle V4 electronic suite.” It means the Streetfighter V4 will have IMU-based lean-angle sensitive ABS and traction control. Additionally, it should also have wheelie control, rear tyre slide control, engine braking levels, rear wheel lift mitigation, among others. There is no mention of whether there will be an “S” model complete with electronically controlled suspension, however.

Now for the interesting bits.

Ducati claims the weight at 178 kg. This is presumably the dry weight, since the Panigale V4 S weights 195 kg, ready to ride. Still that is really light!

Moving on, the next test is “high handlebar.” This is given, since the bike takes on a naked form.

And here it is, the most awaited spec: “208 hp at 12,750.” That is 18 hp over the expected 190. The current king of supernakeds – KTM 1290 Super Duke R – boasts 187 hp. The prospect of riding a naked bike which has more than 200 hp sounds oddly enticing and scary at the same time.

The video ends with the message “See you at Ducati World Premiere on October 23, 11.30 am CEST.” That’s Central European Summer Time which converts to 5.30 pm.

As with the previous year, Ducati will unveil their 2020 models at the Ducati 2020 World Premiere on 23rd October, ahead of the EICMA show.

Some manufacturers are moving away from unveiling their bikes at EICMA as all manufacturers will also reveal their new bikes, sometimes at exactly the same time and date, as other manufacturers. You can imagine the chaos that ensues.

The Ducati 2020 World Premiere will certainly include the new Streetfighter V4. The prototype was ridden by Carlin Dunne at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, but it’s going to be the production-ready bike this time.

We may also get to see the new Multistrada V4 which has already been spotted undergoing road tests.

You can look forward to a new Panigale 959, as well. It’ll still be powered by a V-Twin engine, of course.

But sources say that there may be an all-new Scrambler, too. The Scrambler line-up is now burgeoning with different models, so we wonder what type it will be next.

The Monster line-up also needs an update.

Apart from Ducati, we expect most, if not all, manufacturers to present new bikes later at EICMA this year. This is due to Euro5 regulations taking effect in 2020.

Rider Carlin Dunne died while racing the Ducati Streetfighter V4 Prototype at the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC).

Dunne had qualified in pole position a day earlier and everyone had tipped that he would win his fourth PPIHC race, and set the fastest ever time for a motorcycle in the “Race to the Clouds.”

All eyes the world over was on him and the Ducati as the prototype will serve as the precursor to the most powerful naked sportbike ever built. Ducati had stripped down the Panigale V4 and fitted a taller handlebar to it for the race.

Rennie Scaysbrook had set the fastest time ever previously at 9m44.963s on his 2018 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100. That time was already 5.6 seconds faster than the  9m49.625s set by Chris Fillimore on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R in 2017.

Dunne went out last and logged the fastest times in three out of four sectors. He was ahead by 1.3s in Segment 1, 2.5s in Segment 2 and nearly 4s in Segment 3. Then tragedy struck as he crashed less than 400 metres to the finish line near the highest point of the mountain.

As such, Rennie Scaysbrook won the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) on the Aprilia, with his time entered as the new record. The win was Aprilia’s first in the heavyweight category.

Dunne had won the PPIHC race three times previously, all on Ducatis. He won in 2011 and 2012 on the Multistrada 1200, and last year on the Multistrada 1260. Ducati went on to produce the Pikes Peak Edition Multistradas to commemorate the rider’s achievements.

The PPIHC is where non-sportbikes battle it out for supremacy, hence you’d find bikes such as the Streetfighter, BMW S 1000 R, KTM 1290 Super Duke R, et al. Competitors are flagged off at sea level and ride up the 156-corner, 20-kilometre (12.42-mile) road to the finish line 4302 metres (14,115 feet) up the hill.

Ladies and gentleman, after months of speculation and nail-biting, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 Pikes Peak prototype finally breaks cover.

Truth is, we were also surprised by how it looks, specifically in its “paint” scheme. It wears the “pixelated” scheme we usually see on test bikes that are designed to cloak the prototype’s lines. For that matter, Ducati says that this prototype suggests “how the bike will eventually look.”

The bike doesn’t look highly modified from Panigale V4 from which it is based on. It appears that Ducati stripped the bodywork off, replaced the clip-ons with a tapered handlebar and installed a different headlamp cowl. But look closer and you’ll find winglets on the radiator cowls.

However, it is definitely a potent package, provided that they didn’t retune the 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine. That’s 213 hp and 124 Nm in standard tune, but adding the Akrapovic race exhaust brings it to 226 hp. We repeat: A 226 hp naked bike, yo!

As speculated earlier, Ducati decided to debut the Streetfighter V4 prototype at the “Race to the Clouds” Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) on 30th June. The PPIHC is the prestigious race which allows naked sportbikes. Carlin Dunne will resume his duty as Ducati’s factory rider, and you can be sure that they will aim for not only the win but a new outright record.

“The Streetfighter V4 will be one of the stars of the Ducati World Premiere 2020,” declared Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati. “Streetfighter V4 is the Panigale for road riding; so there was no better stage than the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for what will be the highest performance Streetfighter ever put into production.”

Although the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb officially begins from 24th June with pre-race activities such as scrutineering, official practice and qualifying, the race proper begins on 30th June.

However, there are unsanctioned practices on 8th, 9th , 14th, 15th and 16th June for the competitors. Thus, the unveiling of the Streetfighter V4 happens on the eve of one of those tests.

Interestingly, the Streetfighter V4 isn’t found in the competitors’ listing. Instead, it’s described as “Ducati Pikes Peak Prototipo (prototype),” in the heavyweight category. Carlin Dunne who has won on Ducatis multiple times will ride the bike. Dunne also won last year on a Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak. However, his final time was 10 seconds off the record set by Chris Fillmore in 2018 on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

There exists beyond doubt that Ducati wants to not only retain the PPIHC crown but also set a new record. Indeed, a Streetfighter V4 prototype was spotted testing at a track last week.

The PPIHC is a 156-corner “track” up a hillside. The competitors (including cars, 4X4s, quads) start from sea level and wind their way up to the finish line at 4302.2 metres (14, 115 feet).

Superbikes were allowed a few years before but were subsequently banned due to a number of fatal crashes. “Motorcycles with one-piece, non-clip-on handlebars are allowed,” as the organizers put it.

So, stay tuned, indeed!

A Ducati Streetfighter V4 prototype was spotted being tested on a racetrack.

The mouth-watering prospect began when Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali hinted that there will be more bikes built on the new Desmosedici Stradale V4 platform.

The grainy photos shared DDG magazine shows a bike with intakes taken directly off the Panigale V4. The headlights are mounted on pods ala Triumph Street and Speed Triple. Moving back, notice the tailsection is identical to the superbike, as well. The exhaust pipes are underslung, unlike the previous Streetfighter 848 and 1098.

But what’s more important is the engine. Or more specifically, how much power will the engine produce. The current KTM 1290 Super Duke R’s LC8 V-Twin engine makes 178 hp and is touted as the “most powerful super naked.” In view of that, we guess the Streefighter’s engine will be tuned to regions of 190 hp. That’s 23 hp down from the Panigale V4 but 213 hp for a naked bike is ridiculous.

The Streetfighter V4 is expected to make its first public appearance at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb starting 30thJune.

It also ought to be officially launched at EICMA.
