Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati, will continue his helm as the President of Motor Valley Development after he was reconfirmed for another two years during a recent shareholders’ meeting.

  • Ducati’s CEO, Claudio Domenicali reconfirmed as the President of Motor Valley for another two years.
  • The Motor Valley incorporates 16,500 companies and 90,000 employees.

“In recent years I have carried out the task of President of the Motor Valley Development association with pride and responsibility because I believe that enhancing the uniqueness of this territory is a duty for those who, like us, are part of it.

“It is an honour to be able to continue in this role in the next two years and I would like to thank all the partners and institutions for their trust”, he said.

According to Claudio, the association will continue its pursuit in promoting Emilia-Romagna brands of motors.

“The industrial, tourist and cultural region of the Emilia-Romagna Motor Valley deserves to be supported and promoted in all its components, continuing to give value to the prestigious universities, historical and artistic culture and unrivalled motoring and technological expertise.”

Motor Valley is a unique industrial region in the world, notably for housing 16,500 companies and over 90,000 employees that contributes to an annual turnover of EUR16 billion.

That said, the Motor Valley has become a strategic tourist asset for the region thanks to 13 specialized museums including the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, the Automobili Lamborghini Museum, the Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum, the Ducati Museum in Borgo Panigale and the Horacio Pagani Museum.

Ducati secured the first half of 2022 with remarkable result despite various challenges resulting from the ongoing logistic crisis.

  • Ducati sold more than 33,000 motorcycles for first half of 2022.
  • China emerged as a vast growing market, with more than 2,000 units sold.

Nevertheless, the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer managed to deliver a total of 33,265 units of motorcycles to Ducatisti around the world. Although the numbers is slightly lower than the previous year (34,515) but considering the ongoing crisis, a drop of just 3.6 percent is still a remarkable achievement within the period.

Also, Ducati’s revenue grew by 5.4 percent to EUR542million, a highest figure ever recorded in the first six months by any two-wheel manufacturer.

“2021 was a record year for Ducati with the best result ever in terms of deliveries, revenues and operating profit. 2022 is proving to be a more challenging year: despite strong demand from enthusiasts, as evidenced by the order portfolio which at the end of the first half is up + 86% over the same period of 2021, the strong discontinuity in the world of logistics and supply remains.

“However, we managed to obtain satisfactory results considering the context in which we are operating, especially in terms of revenue, which is the best ever recorded in the first six months of the year.

“I would like to thank once again all the enthusiasts who continue to choose us, and I personally apologize to all those who had to or will have to wait longer than necessary to receive their bike,” said Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali.

The Ducati Multistrada V4 proven to be the pièce de résistance, emerging as the most popular bikes for the first six months of the year with 6,139 units sold globally.

Next is the Monster with 4,776 units followed by the Scrambler 800 family with 3,999 units.

Ducati marks the end of 2021 with a strong sales figure after securing a record of 59,447 motorcycles delivered to customers worldwide.

The number of sales also saw an increase of 24% over 2020 (48,042) and 12% over 2019 (53,183).

The United States emerged as the leading market for the Italian brand with 9,007 units sold followed by Itali with 8,707 units and Germany, 6,107 units.

Meanwhile, the Ducati brand also shows strong growth in China, with 4,901 motorcycles sold, an increase of 21% than the previous year.

According to Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, the extraordinary sales figure has never been achieved in the company 95 years history.

“2021 was a magical year for Ducati. We delivered over 59,000 motorcycles, a number never achieved before in 95 years of the company’s history.

“We also won the title of MotoGP Constructors’ World Champion for the second consecutive year, and we started the electric era of our company with the V21L prototype, which foresees the bike that will race in the MotoE championship from 2023.

“The pandemic, which is still underway, in addition to generating so much suffering, has also made activities more complex, forcing us to conduct a continuous internal reorganization,” said Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO.

Such success was obtained thanks to the new Multistrada V4, which came out on top as the most popular bike among Ducatisti in 2021 with over 9,957 units sold.

The Ducati Scrambler 800 range comes second with 9,059 units sold followed by the all-new Monster with 8,734 units sold.

Meanwhile, Ducati expects another strong growth in 2022, as expectations are high for the new DesertX.

“With the DesertX we will have from this year on an extremely attractive proposal for adventure fans, and other ambitious projects are currently in development.

“The core values of the brand – Style, Sophistication, Performance and Trust – are more current than ever,” added Domenicali.

In many ways it is the most advanced bike we have ever developed.”

Wait a minute. Why is the V4 R “the most advanced bike” Ducati has ever created? That’s because MotoGP does not allow electronic package, winglets, electronic suspension and ABS.
