Akhirnya, selepas berbulan-bulan dipratonton dan diacah, akhinya BMW F 450 GS telah dilancarkan di EICMA 2025.

Motosikal baharu ini menjanjikan kawalan yang lincah, tork dan kuasa enjin yang hebat, serta kepelbagaian kegunaan di atas jalan raya dan luar jalan raya.

Sorotan

  • Enjin selari kembar (parallel-twin) baharu 420cc yang menghasilkan 35 kW (48 hp) pada 8,750 rpm dan 43 Nm pada 6,750 rpm.
  • Ya, BMW Motorrad memilih untuk mengikut arah enjin berbilang-silinder berbanding dengan format satu silinder yang lazim dalam kelas ini.
  • Juga menariknya, enjin kembar selari ini mempunyai aci engkol unik 135 darjah, berbeza dengan variasi 180 darjah, 270 darjah, atau 360 darjah pada motosikal lain.
  • BMW mendakwa bahawa enjin ini hanya menggunakan 3.8 liter minyak untuk setiap 100 km, yang memberikan motosikal ini jarak maksimum potensi “melebihi 350 km” daripada tangkinya yang berkapasiti 14 liter.
  • Selain enjin, satu lagi ciri baharu yang menarik ialah Easy Ride Clutch (ERC).
  • Ia adalah sejenis klac sentrifugal yang membenarkan kendiri idling dan pertukarangear tanpa perlu menarik tuas klac (seperti yang terdapat pada kapcai berkuasa kecil).

  • ERC ini hanya dipasang pada varian GS Trophy dan apabila digabungkan dengan Shift Assistant Pro, ia menghapuskan keperluan untuk mengoperasi klac secara manual.
  • Walaubagaimanapun, tuas klac masih dikekalkan, sekiranya penunggang ingin campur tangan semasa melakukan manuver.
  • BMW menerangkan bahawa ERC, walaupun berdasarkan konsep klac sentrifugal yang terdapat pada kapcai, sebenarnya adalah sistem “lebih maju” kerana plat klacnya kekal “tertutup” semasa kelajuan enjin melepasi titik merah.
  • BMW F 450 GS menawarkan tiga mod penunggaan sebagai peralatan standard: “Rain”, “Road” dan “Enduro”, membolehkan motosikal disesuaikan mengikut keutamaan individu.

Mesin espresso ini berdasarkan enjin R 18 Boxer sejukan udara dan minyak BMW, dan dihasilkan melalui kerjasama antara BMW Motorrad dan ECM Espresso Coffee Machines Manufacture GmbH.

Bahagian depan unit kuasa ini yang menghadap tetamu anda kelihatan seperti enjin R 18, manakala bahagian penghasilan “emas hitam” (kopi) dipasang di belakangnya. Terdapat dua sistem peredaran air bebas untuk menyediakan kopi dan buih susu secara serentak, dengan paip yang menyerupai saluran minyak.

BMW menyatakan bahawa mesin ini dilengkapi “pam putaran yang sangat senyap dan paparan masa penyediaan.” Oleh itu, tiada bunyi deruman Boxer atau “tendangan” ke sisi semasa kopi anda dibuat.

Mesin ini berharga €7,900 (RM38,597.82, setakat hari ini) dan anda boleh mendapatkan maklumat lanjut tentang mesin kopi ini di pengedar eksklusif ECM. Hanya 80 unit akan dikeluarkan.

Sebagai info, enjin R 18 adalah jenis kembar mendatar 1802cc (lebih mudah dipanggil Boxer) yang menghasilkan kuasa maksimum 89 hp dan tork puncak 163 Nm. Ia merupakan enjin Boxer terbesar yang pernah dibuat.

The espresso machine is based on BMW’s air- and oil-cooled R 18 boxer engine, and created through the partnership between BMW Motorrad and ECM Espresso Coffee Machines Manufacture GmbH.

The front of the power unit which faces your guests is exactly like the R 18 engine, while the black gold making part is mounted behind it. There are two independent water circulation systems for simultaneous preparation of coffee and milk foam, with pipes that mimic oil lines.

BMW says that the machine includes “an extremely quiet rotary pump and a shot counter with a display of the preparation time.” As such, there is no Boxer roar and sideways “kick” when your coffee brews.

The machine is priced at €7,900 (RM38,597.82, as of today) and you can find out more about the coffee machine at exclusive ECM dealers. Only 80 will ever be built.

By the way, the R 18 powerplant is an 1802cc horizontally-opposed twin (easier to call it a Boxer) which produces 89 hp of maximum power and 163 Nm of peak torque. It is the biggest Boxer ever made.

The BMW F 450 GS has been rumoured for several months, now. From what we could gather, the maker has been receiving positive feedback since the concept was first revealed online.

Now, accordng to MCN, BMW Motorrad confirmed that the F 450 GS concept bike will be revealed publicly by the end of 2025.

The new model will be powered by an all-new 450cc parallel-twin engine which is claimed to produce 47.3 hp, and weighs just 175 kg. The bike will also be “packed with tech” and sharing some of the features of its bigger brethern i.e. F 900 GS, R 1300 GS.

According to a BMW official who was interviewed by MCN, “There will be rider modes, the option to have a quickshifter and more, as even though the capacity is small, it will still offer everything that a rider will need to have the best experience on and off-road. In-keeping with the R1300GS, we’ll also only be offering it with a 19-inch/17-inch wheel combination too.

But the juiciest element to the baby GS saga came when talking through various gearboxes – and that the 450 will have the option of some form of ASA (Automated Shift Assistant) technology, although it will potentially be a slightly different system to the one that is currently available on BMW’s flagship models.

Additionally, there will be two transmission options – one manual and the other an automatic.

BMW Motorrad could develop several variants based on this new 450cc platform, too, so let us look forward to a naked/roadster and sport-tourer.

The BMW RT pretty much set the standard for the more tourer-biased sport touring segment. But wait, sport tourer?

A long time ago, sport-tourers were standard motorcycles/roadsters that were equipped windscreens and luggage. However, the segment was further (mini) segmented to those that are more sport-oriented versus those that are more touring-oriented.

The former includes madcap motorcycles such as the BMW S 1000 XR and M 1000 XR, Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX, Kawasaki 1400GTR, KTM 1390 Super Duke GT, Ducati Multistrada V4, and Suzuki Hayabusa (yes the ‘Busa is considered a sport-tourer).

The latter includes the BMW RT, Honda NT1100, Kawasaki Ninja 1000, Yamaha FJR1300ES, etc.

But how about the likes of the BMW K 1600 series? It belongs to the full-dress tourer segment. Yes, it covers the Honda Gold Wing, Kawasaki Voyager, Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, … You get the idea.

More about the BMW RT

First and foremost, the RT, at least beginning from the 1996 R 1150 RT, looked large, heavy and ungainly. However, we ourselves found out about how sweet and comfortable the RT series is. They felt more like large scooters rather than motorcycles that you risk throwing your back out by lifting it off its sidestand.

There are many reasons why the RT is chosen as a police or escort motorcycle the world over, including here in Malaysia.

Really. You need to ride one to fall in love with it.

History of the BMW RT

Anyway, back to the main title, let us trace the evolution of the much-beloved RT, beginning with the name, of course. “RT” stands for “Reise-Tourer” (Travel-Tourer).

R 100 RT (1978)

The original RT, based on the R 100 S and shares certain attributes with the R 100 RS. The R 100 RT has a full fairing and more upright riding position. It set the standard for BMW’s touring motorcycles and was popular among long-distance riders.

  • A full fairing (unlike earlier naked or semi-faired BMWs).

  • A 98 hp, 980cc “airhead” (air-cooled) Boxer engine.

  • Comfortable seating, wind protection, and luggage options.

R 1100 RT (1995)

Introduced along with new generation of BMW “oilhead” Boxer engine and a more advanced chassis. The oilhead engine, as the name suggested, was oil-cooled. This engine would become BMW’s signature for many years to come.

  • 1,085cc, 90 hp engine.

  • Improved aerodynamics, ABS (optional), and electronic fuel injection.

R 1150 RT (2001)

Still an “oilhead,” the Boxer engine underwent several revisions including enlarged capacity and power output.

  • 1,130cc, 95 hp engine.

  • More refined suspension (Telelever front, Paralever rear).

  • Better wind protection and onboard electronics.

R 1200 RT (2005)

The last of the “oilhead” generation RT, but was considered the one of the best until today. BMW reworked the engine and chassis again to provide even more performance and comfort.

There were two (sub-)versions of this generation, namely:

  • “Hexhead” (2005–2009): 1,170cc, 110 hp, with improved engine cooling.

  • “Camhead” (2010–2013): Minor updates, including revised cylinder heads.

Main features included:

  • Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment).

  • Advanced electronics (traction control, ride modes).

  • Heated grips, cruise control, and a larger fairing.

R 1200 RT (2014)

The Boxer was finally liquid-cooled to keep up with producing more power and emissions standards, leading to being dubbed as the “waterhead,” or “wethead.”

Main features followed those of the previous R 1200 RT, albeit enhanced further.

  • Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment).

  • Advanced electronics (traction control, ride modes).

  • Heated grips, cruise control, and a larger fairing.

R 1250 RT (2019)

The R 1250 RT made its debut following BMW upgrading the Boxer to include their ShiftCam VVT technology. And of course, the new bike had many new features too, including radar-assistance in the latter stages. It remains one of the most technologically advanced and comfortable touring bikes on the market.

  • 1,254cc ShiftCam boxer engine (136 hp, variable valve timing).

  • 10.25-inch TFT display (with connectivity, navigation, and multimedia).

  • Radar-assisted adaptive cruise control (optional).

  • Enhanced rider aids (cornering ABS, dynamic traction control).

R 1300 RT (2025)

BMW introduced the all-new R 1300 GS for 2024, and of course, the RT follows soon after. This is an all-new RT, along with a completely new design which breaks away from the previous two R 1200 RT and subsequent R 1250 RT generations. It is 12 kg (wet) lighter than the last R 1250 RT, too.

Key features:

  • New 1,300cc ShiftCam Boxer Twin, which produces 145 hp (107 kW) @ 7,750 RPM, and 149 Nm (110 lb-ft) @ 6,500 RPM.

  • More compact & lighter than the R 1250 RT engine.

  • 6-speed transmission with optional Shift Assistant Pro (clutchless up/down shifts).

  • Improved fuel efficiency and smoother power delivery.

  • New Steel Bridge Frame (lighter & stiffer for better handling).

  • EVO Telelever Front Suspension (revised for improved feedback).

  • EVO Paralever Rear Suspension (enhanced stability).

  • Optional Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) – automatically adapts to riding conditions.

BMW R 1300 RT (2025) telah tiba di Malaysia, dengan harga (anggaran) antara RM167,000 hingga RM180,000 bergantung pada “edisi” dan kelengkapan.

Perlu diingatkan bahawa ia merupakan model serba baharu daripada aspek enjin, casis, rangka, rekabentuk, ciri-ciri elektronik, dan lain-lain. Ia pastinya membawa RT yang sudah sangat berkeupayaan ke tahap yang lebih tinggi.

The 2025 BMW R 1300 RT has arrived in Malaysia, and (estimated) prices range from RM167,000 to RM180,000 depending on the “editions” and trim.

Do note that this is an entirely new model from the contact patches up i.e. new engine, chassis, frame, design, electronics suite, etc. It surely pushes the already very capable RT to a whole new level.

Highlights of the 2025 BMW R 1300 RT:
  • Two-cylinder boxer engine with the displacement of 1300cc, using the bore and stroke dimensions of 106.5 x 73mm.
  • The BMW Shift Cam-equipped engine produces 143 hp at 7,750 RPM and 149.2 Nm at 6,500 RPM. It is the most powerful production BMW Boxer yet.

  • Completely redesigned chassis which uses a new sheet steel frame (like the R 1300 R), plus a die-cast aluminium rear frame.
  • The main differences between the R 1300 RT and R 1300 RS is the front suspension: The former receives the new Telelever Evo from the R 1300 GS, which isolates the handlebars from the suspension to a greater degree than before.

  • At the rear is the Evo Paralever which offers a stiffer connection via the suspension in the frame and a quick-release axle on the swingarm.
  • New 17-inch aluminium cast wheels with hollow-spoke design, reducing 1.4 kg.

  • Braking system includes twin front disc brakes with radially-mounted four-piston calipers.
  • A 10.25-inch TFT colour screen that includes integrated map navigation and a newly-developed Connectivity Hub.

  • Electronic rider aids include the standard Road, Rain, Eco modes and Cornering ABS.
  • Adding the “Riding Modes Pro” optional system which comprises additional riding modes such as ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Dynamic Pro’.

  • Further upgrades include Riding Assistant which comes with Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning (SWW) and Front Collision Warning (FCW).
  • Colours are Alpine White 3 (RM167,000), Triple Black Limited Edition (RM177,000), Impulse Limited Edition (RM180,000). All are estimated recommended retail selling prices and not on-the-road.

The 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure (GSA) was officially unveiled here during the recent Malaysian Autoshow 2025. However, its price was not revealed back then.

BMW Motorrad Malaysia has now announced the bike’s price, according to different trims, of course:

  • 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure in Racing Red RM148,500.00.
  • 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure in Triple Black RM153,500.00.
  • 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure in Style GS Trophy RM153,500.00.
  • 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure in Option 719 Karakorum RM164,500.00.

All are recommended retail prices (on the road, with BMW Motorrad Malaysia’s All-New 3-Year Warranty and 3-Year Roadside Assistance Programmes, without insurance).

Financial Services – All In, Simply Smart

With the Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of the 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure starts from RM 2,078 per month, respectively (based on the Straight Line Financing estimates of an 90% loan on a 7-year tenure).

  • Completely redesigned engine, chassis, bodywork, design, and storage concept.
  • New 1300cc Boxer engine with BMW ShiftCam, producing 145 hp (107 kW) at 7,750 RPM and 149 Nm at 6,500 RPM.

  • New 6-speed transmission placed under the engine for more compactness.
  • Lightweight stainless steel 2-in-1 exhaust system.

  • All-new 30-litre aluminium fuel tank offers substantial range for long-distance tours.
  • Cross-spoked wheels with aluminium rim rings for off-road performance.

  • As part of the standard Dynamic Package, Riding Modes Pro includes “Eco” for efficiency and “Enduro” for off-road adventures in addition to “Rain”, “Road”, “Dynamic”, “Dynamic Pro”, and “Enduro Pro”.
  • Sports brake is standard equipment for the model.

  • Also part of the Dynamic Package is the Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) automatic transmission, for the automation of the clutch and gear shifts.
  • ASA is available as standard for the All-New BMW R 1300 GS Adventure in Style GS Trophy, Triple Black, and Option 719 “Karakorum”, while the All-New BMW R 1300 GS Adventure in Racing Red features the Shift Assistant Pro as standard.

  • Touring Package is also standard across all variants, includes the main stand, chrome-plated manifold, navigation device preparation, electrically adjustable windshield, top case holder and case holders for aluminium cases.
  • The 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure’s frame now includes a steel sheet metal main frame and an aluminium lattice tube rear frame, enhancing rigidity.

  • EVO Telelever front wheel guide and revised EVO Paralever rear wheel guide provide exceptional steering precision and ride stability, both on and off-road.
  • Dynamic  adjustments to the front and rear damping are further made possible with the new Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA).

  • With adaptive vehicle height control as standard, the 2023 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure also offers fully automatic adjustment of the vehicle height to suit the operating conditions.
  • Comfort rider and passenger seats are standard.

  • Matrix LED headlights consisting of a single LED unit for both low and high beams, along with four additional LED units for the daytime running light and the side light.
  • With the Headlight Pro as standard, the headlights dynamically adjust, ensuring better road safety, whether on winding roads or rugged trails.

  • Complementing this are two extra-flat auxiliary headlamps with LED technology, seamlessly integrating into the bike’s bodywork.
  • Newly designed LED turn indicators are integrated into the hand protectors at the front and function-integrated at the rear.

  • Other advanced standard features are Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Engine drag torque control (MSR), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Hill Start Control (HSC), ABS Pro.
  • Riding Assistant further includes Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning, and Rear End Collision Warning (RECW) are also standard features.

  • 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display, offering vibrant, real-time information such as speed, fuel levels, riding modes, and more.
  • An additional Sport screen is available, allowing for the display of additional information on lean angle, traction and braking behaviour, as well as a sports rev counter with gear indicator.

  • BMW Motorrad Connected app seamlessly integrates with the display, enabling riders to access vehicle status, navigation, and performance data via their smartphones.
  • The display can be easily operated via the BMW Motorrad multi-controller, offering simple access to all key functions.

  • Other standard equipment on the 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure includes RDC, heated grips, Keyless Ride, and a smartphone charging compartment with an integrated USB socket and 12V on-board power socket.

Ia belum masanya untuk S 1000 RR generasi baharu, sekurang-kurangnya bukan dalam bentuk produksi, tetapi BMW Motorrad telah mendedahkan BMW Concept RR awal pagi tadi. Konsep RR ini ditunjukkan kepada senarai tetamu khas yang eksklusif di acara Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este tahun ini di tepi Tasik Como, Itali.

Dengan ini, BMW Motorrad telah mengesahkan komitmen mereka terhadap model superbike RR pada masa hadapan. Konsep baharu ini ini dikuasakan oleh enjin 1000cc yang sama seperti S 1000 RR yang ditunggang oleh juara World Superbike Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. Ia bukan enjin 800cc seperti yang dispekulasi oleh sesetengah pihak. Malah, enjin ini menghasilkan lebih daripada 226 hp.

Malangnya, ia belum dijual buat masa ini, terutamanya memandangkan enjin tersebut tidak mematuhi piawaian pelepasan. Namun, kita boleh yakin bahawa BMW pasti akan mengambil inspirasi daripada konsep ini untuk model RR pada masa depan.

Salah satu contohnya ialah lampu hadapan yang mencadangkan bahawa ia juga akan tersedia sebagai mesin yang boleh digunakan di atas jalan raya, sementara model khusus lumba seperti Yamaha YZF-R1 dan Suzuki GSX-R1000RR di Eropah juga akan ditawarkan.

Dari segi elektronik, ia mengekalkan sistem kawalan elektronik yang sama seperti mesin lumba World Superbike, yang menguruskan enjin, kawalan cengkaman tayar, brek enjin, suis berasaskan lumba, dengan paparan TFT warna penuh standard digantikan dengan meter yang lebih kecil dan khusus untuk litar, dan lain-lain.

Rangka ini juga mempunyai paksi lengan ayun dan pemijak kaki dengan kedudukan yang boleh dilaras.

BMW Concept RR dibalut dengan fairing yang menakjubkan, dan diperbuat daripada gentian karbon. BMW menyatakan bahawa mereka menekankan aerodinamik untuk kelajuan maksimum yang tinggi dan kelajuan di selekoh. Walaubagaimanapun, sayapnya lebih kecil berbanding S 1000 RR dan M 1000 RR semasa. Terdapat sirip sekunder berhias emas seperti bulu mata untuk melancarkan aliran udara di sebelah lampu hadapan.

Well, it did not turn out to be the new generation of S 1000 RR yet, at least not in its production form, but BMW Motorrad had revealed the BMW Concept RR early this morning. The Concept RR was shown to an exclusive list of special guests at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event on the banks of Lake Como, in Italy.

In doing so, BMW Motorrad have confirmed their commitment to future RR superbike models. The striking new concept is powered by the same 1000cc engine as Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s World Superbike-winning S 1000 RR. It is not an 800cc engine as some may have speculated. In fact, it is the engine that produces more than 226 hp.

Unfortunately, it is not for sale at the moment, especially since that engine is not constrained by emissions standards. But we can be sure that BMW will surely draw upon the concept for the future RR.

One example are the headlights, which suggest that it will be also available as a road-legal machine, while the race-only model will also be available such as the Yamaha YZF-R1 and Suzuki GSX-R1000RR in Europe.

In terms of electronics, it retains the same electronic control systems as the World Superbike racing machine, which governs engine management, traction control, engine braking, race derived switchgear, with the standard full colour TFT dash display stripped out for a smaller, track-only dials, etc.

The frame features swingarm pivots and footpegs with adjustable positions, too.

The BMW Concept RR is wrapped in a stunning bodywork, made of carbon fibre. BMW say that they emphasise aerodynamics for high top speeds, and cornering speeds. However, the winglets are smaller than those on the current S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR, There are gold-trimmed eyelashes-like secondary fins to smooth out airflow beside the headlights.

The only thing to wait for now is BMW Motorrad’s announcement that it will be made available to the buying public and race teams. It will happen.

BMW S 1000 RR (2027) generasi baharu akan didedahkan pada 23 Mei, 7 malam CEST (1 pagi, 24 Mei di Malaysia). BMW Motorrad baru sahaja mengeluarkan imej acah dalam platform media sosial mereka sebelum pelancaran.

Imej acah itu menunjukkan sebuah motosikal yang diprofilkan dengan latar belakang hitam dan kelabu, dan kita hanya boleh melihat bentuk asas S 1000 RR.
