Net.

The Triumph-Bajaj partnership has been progressing steadily over recent months, and it seems that a new bike is on the horizon. A recent video posted on YouTube by The Fat Biker has given us the clearest look yet at a Triumph Bajaj test mule being tested on roads in India.

  • The test mule is seen with alloy wheels instead of wire-spoked wheels shown last year.
  • Reports suggest the all-new motorcycle is likely to break cover towards the end of 2023.

The bike is believed to be a 400cc machine, with a neutral and upright seating position and mid-mounted foot pegs. It features cast wheels (19-inch up front and a 17-inch in the rear), high-mounted fenders front and rear, and an underslung exhaust with a dual-tipped canister mounted low on the right side. LED lighting is present throughout the bike, and the speedometer is analog.

While it’s not yet clear when the new Triumph-Bajaj bike will be formally revealed, bike press in India believes it will happen later in 2023.

The upcoming bike is expected to directly compete with other scramblers like the Royal Enfield Scram 411, the Yezdi Scrambler, and the Honda CB350RS.

With eight months to go until the formal reveal, enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting more information about this exciting new offering from the Triumph-Bajaj partnership. Stay tuned for more updates on this upcoming model.

British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph is set to expand its range of motorcycles, with recent trademark applications suggesting the company has even more ambitious projects in the works.

  • Triumph is working on several new models as confirmed by latest trademark applications.
  • The Hurricane nameplate is well known back in the 70s.

According to reports by Cycle World, Triumph has filed trademark applications for “Hurricane,” “Adventurer,” and “Street Tracker” in multiple countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

The name “Hurricane” is well-known to Triumph enthusiasts, as it was used on the iconic X-75 Hurricane motorcycle in the 1970s. It is likely that Triumph will use the name for a new model with similar styling and mechanical layout to the X-75.

Triumph also applied for the name “Adventurer,” which has been used in the past on a twin-cylinder scrambler and a cruiser. However, the company is likely to use the name for an adventure bike given its current range of adventure models.

Finally, the trademark application for “Street Tracker” suggests that Triumph is developing a bike in this style, although the use of “Street” in the name raises some questions. It is possible that Triumph will use the name for a model based on its Street Triple, or that it will be used for the new Bajaj-built, single-cylinder retro models that are due to be launched later this year.

While Triumph has a history of holding onto trademark rights for historic names, the recent changes to US trademark law mean that companies are only meant to register names they genuinely intend to use soon.

Triumph’s expansion into new markets, including motocross and electric motorcycles, as well as its plans to develop a range of entry-level single-cylinder bikes in India, suggest that the company has big plans for the future.

Bajaj Auto, an Indian multinational two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturing company, has announced that it will be taking over all sales and service operations for Triumph Motorcycles in India.

  • Bajaj takes over Triumph Motorcycles distributorship in India.
  • The showroom will only be dedicated to selling Triumph bikes.

The move is part of the strategic partnership that was established by the two companies a few years ago. Bajaj and Triumph have also collaborated to co-develop new entry-level mid-capacity Triumph models that will be produced by Bajaj at its Chakan facility.

With this announcement, Triumph’s India operations will now be under Bajaj’s Probiking business. The business will be headed by Sumeet Narang, while Shoebh Farooq, who was previously the business head for Triumph India, has moved to Bajaj’s electric mobility arm, Chetak Technology Ltd.

As part of the partnership, the first new model is expected to launch in 2023, and it is anticipated to arrive in the next few months. Bajaj and Triumph have revealed that the new models will have various displacements ranging between 200 and 700cc.

To accommodate the new Triumph models, the company’s dealer network will be expanded from 15 cities to 120 cities within the next two years. The showrooms will be tiered, with some of them solely dedicated to higher-end bikes developed solely by Triumph and located in India’s biggest cities.

It has been made clear that Bajaj and Triumph-branded motorcycles will not be sold under the same roof. The Triumph operation will remain independent of both Bajaj and KTM, and the showrooms will be exclusive to the brand. The press release also states that “these new showrooms will be created in line with Triumph’s global standards.”

Modenas currently rebadged several Bajaj-made models for the Malaysian market including the Pulsar 200, Pulsar 160 and the popular Dominar 400.

  • The Dominar 250 features the same bodywork as the Dominar 400.
  • The quarter-litre sport-tourer makes 27hp and 23.5Nm.

However, in a latest development it has come to our knowledge that Modenas is set to expand its motorcycle range with the introduction of the Dominar 250.

Although no official announcement made just yet, we understand that the Dominar 250 could be introduce in Q2 2023.

The Dominar 250 made its official debut in India back in March 2020 and it looks to be one very respectable 250cc sport-touring model for the masses. Priced at Rs 1.60 lakh (around RM9,163 after direct conversion), it’s the perfect beginner’s bike for those looking to go the extra mile.

It’s also a considerable price cut compared to its bigger and more powerful sibling, the Dominar 400. We’re guessing that a lot of folks here in Malaysia would be interested in this particular model considering it carries a lot of the great specs of the Dominar 400 into its 250cc package (which also means that riders here won’t have to upgrade their riding license).

Fitted with a 250cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine taken from the KTM 250 Duke, the 2020 Bajaj Dominar 250 has been tuned to produce 27hp at 8,500rpm and 23.5Nm of max torque at 6,500rpm. All that power is transferred to the rear wheel via a six-speed manual transmission and all the emissions go through a double-barrel exhaust unit.

Housed within a beam type perimeter frame, the new Dominar 250 also comes with 37mm USD front forks, Multi-step adjustable Mono Shox rear suspension with Nitrox, dual-channel ABS (300mm front disc, 230mm rear disc), and 17-inch wheels.

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will go on sale in Europe in 2024 through KTM dealerships.

  • The Chetak electric scooter is Bajaj’s first attempt at electric two-wheelers.
  • The Chetak is currently on sale in 27 cities in India.

The confirmation news came from the top man in KTM AG, Stefan Pierer.

“We will be launching Chetak in 2024. It may hit roads post-March, as it is a starting time for the on-road season.

“The price point will be very competitive, and it will be taking on products from Chinese and Taiwanese companies. It will be across all central European markets,” said the CEO.

Interestingly, Pierer confirms that the electric scooter will continue to carry the Chetak brand due to its rich history.

“The second generation is a very nice product. We will use it as Chetak, it is a known brand, and we will be saving money on marketing and digitalisation.

“Secondly, Chetak stands for its famous history in India, and it will help us too,” he added.

Meanwhile, KTM is also developing its own 48-volt electric motorcycle alongside Bajaj.

However, detailed information regarding the project is still unavailable.

The Covid-19 pandemic might have delayed the Triumph-Bajaj motorcycle project over the last three years but with things are moving positively these days, the motorcycle is is getting closer for its global debut.

  • Bajaj-produced Triumph motorcycle could roll out to production soon.
  • Latest test-mule hints at more than one variant.

The Bajaj-produced Triumph first made an appearance back in February with the test mule sported with a single-cylinder engine.

At the time, there’s no confirmation regarding the bike’s variants but latest spy shot from India’s Bike Dekho confirms that the upcoming Triumph-Bajaj motorcycle could comes in two different trims.

That’s because, the latest test mule features wire-spoked wheels as opposed to the former that is shod with 17-inch alloy wheels.

Interestingly, the latest test mule also features hand guards and a high-mounted front fender.

That said, the test mule is likely to be a scrambler version of Triumph-Bajaj’s upcoming motorcycle but since both parties is yet to confirm this, it’s best to leave it to our imagination.

One thing for sure, the highly anticipated motorcycle from Triumph-Bajaj partnership should arrive by 2023.

In a surprise development, Indian automaker, Bajaj Auto now owns the right to Vincent Motorcycles.

  • Vincent Motorcycles could make a comeback under new ownership.
  • Bajaj acquire the British firm since 2017.

Vincent Motorcycles is British motorcycle manufacturer from 1928 to 1955.  The business went down the drain due to severe financial losses which resulted the company to stop making motorcycles.

Vincent Black Lightning

However, it turns out that Bajaj Auto is in charge of the now-defunct brand since 2017 but since there were no official announcement made, none of us were made known of the acquisition.

Vincent Motorcycles might not ring a bell as much as Triumph or Norton Motorcycle but the brand made two significant models back in the day with the Black Shadow and Black Lightning.

Based on the new development, could Vincent Motorcycle make a surprise comeback in the world of two wheels?

In recent years, there are many old, defunct and financially struggling motorcycle company making a comeback under new management.

TVS Motor revitalized Norton Motorcycles while Mahinda-owned Classic Legends brought back Jawa Motorcycles. Also, Qianjiang helped to inject new life into the Benelli brand.

So it’s possible that Bajaj intends to do the same thing with Vincent Motorcycles.

Moreover, Bajaj already forged a partnership with another British firm, Triumph Motorcycles and has a 49.9 percent stake in KTM AG.

So with the amount of resources at their disposal, Bajaj could revitalise the old brand anytime soon.

Nonetheless, Bajaj has up to August 2026 until the trademark is due for a renewal.

Triumph-Bajaj’s upcoming motorcycle was caught doing rounds for the first time back in February 2022.

  • The upcoming motorcycle could feature between 250cc to 500cc powertrain.
  • features Bonneville inspired components including tanks, headlamp and dash.

At the time, some spy shots were shared online, and we could see that the upcoming Baby Triumph would not be based on the Trident 660 or any of the Hinckley’s naked range; instead, the test mule looked similar to the firm’s Bonneville lineup, albeit a smaller one.

However, in the latest exclusive images shared by MCN, we can now take a closer look at Triumph-Bajaj’s first fruit of marriage.

These spy shots of Triumph’s ‘baby Bonneville’ look similar to the test mule seen earlier this year.

According to MCN, these photos were captured not far from Triumph’s Hinckley headquarters, hinting that it is in a later stage of testing and could be launched soon.

Triumph is tight-lipped on the bike’s engine capacity, but numerous reports suggest the affordable ‘baby Bonneville’ could range between 250cc to 500cc.

Based on the finishing, the new motorcycle indeed inherent Triumph styling cue and quality, with Bajaj lending a helping hand in developing the engine. As a result, while it could be Triumph’s most affordable motorcycle in its stable, they are not going to be as ‘cheap’ as you might think.

Moreover, you can easily capture various components inspired by the bigger Bonneville, including the tank, chrome filler cap, blacked-out engine cases, tubular frame, and round headlamp.

Meanwhile, we expect Triumph to roll out the new range in 2023.

We’ve been hearing about Triumph-Bajaj collaboration for a while now and although we’ve seen the motorcycle they are working on, both parties have yet provided the exact launching date.

  • Triumph-Bajaj partnership to debut the new motorcycle in 2023.
  • Expected to feature between 200cc to 250cc engine capacity.
  • Bajaj to manufacture the motorcycle in a new manufacturing plant in Chakan, India.

However, according to recent speculations, the Triumph-Bajaj partnership will release their first motorcycle in 2023.

The motorcycle is expected to make a mark in the premium entry-level class that is now high demand especially in India, Asia and Europe.

Despite no words on the engine capacity, the collaboration is likely to have engine sizes ranging from 200cc to 250cc.

If the launch is due in 2023, the debut model could make a surprise appearance at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy later in the year.

While it may carry Triumph’s badge, the motorcycle will be manufacturer out of Bajaj new manufacturing plant in Chakan, India.

This would aid greatly in ensuring the price point of the motorcycle which could also lead to a higher sales volume.
