The penultimate MotoGP round of 2017 saw a battle in the wet where Ducati duo Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo celebrated a one-two finish.
Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) completed the podium with Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) settled for fourth.
Dovizioso and Marquez will battle it out in the final round in two weeks’ time upon arriving in Valencia.
The final flyaway race saw the things that made the Shell Malaysia MotoGP one of the most interesting rounds in the calendar each year. Just as the Moto2 race ended with a one-two finish from the Red Bull KTM Ajo duo and of course the 2017 Moto2 World Champion Franco Morbidelli, the skies opened up and unleashed a fury of rain. Dani Pedrosa captures pole position ahead of tomorrow’s Shell Malaysian MotoGP 2017 after an edge-of-the-seat qualifying session.
Run under the sweltering hot sun, the riders put the hammer down to post some blistering times, which saw the coveted position switch hands multiple times before it was settled at the very last moment.
There was plenty of drama too, when championship leader Marc Marquez crashed at the last turn on his very first flying lap, apparently after hitting the turn way too fast. He had just saved himself from crashing during FP4. Marquez frantically restarted his bike to ride back to his pits for his spare bike. He came back in again just minutes from the end of the Q2 session for his first bike, but the best he could do was seventh on the grid.
While everyone was hooked up on Marquez’s crash, Johann Zarco snuck in pole position. Zarco had won the Moto2 race in Malaysia for the past two years.
Behind the Frenchman, Maverick Vinalez, Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo, and Andrea Dovizioso (who’s chasing his first world championship and 33 points behind Marquez), vied for the top spot.
Rossi was the first man to displace Zarco from the top to an immense cheer from the capacity crowd, only to be immediately outgunned by Dovizioso. But while the cameras focused on “Desmo” Dovi, Pedrosa posted his fastest time of 1’59.212.
Then Zarco improved on his time and relegated Dovizioso to third.
Positions 1st to 10th were covered by less than 1 second. But more telling was the third fastest time posted by Dovizioso in third, just 0.024 seconds from pole.
If there’s one thing about the Malaysian MotoGP, one could never know how it’s going to end, and if today’s qualifying session was an indication, we’re in for an amazing race tomorrow.

Tito Rabat bakal berpindah ke pasukan Reale Avintia Racing bagi musim MotoGP yang berikutnya pada tahun 2018.
Penunggang berusia 28 tahun yang berasal dari Sepanyol itu telah mengalami satu musim yang sukar setakat ini dengan pasukan semasanya, EG 0,0 Marc VDS di atas jentera Honda.
Rabat akan mengemudi jentera Ducati Desmosedici GP17 yang telah diperolehi Avintia Racing dari pasukan pengilang Ducati yang telah digunakan oleh Andrea Dovizioso. (more…)
Tito Rabat will move to the Reale Avintia Racing team for the next MotoGP season in 2018.
The 28 year old Spaniard has had a tough season so far with his current EG 0,0 Marc VDS on board the Honda machinery.
Rabat will be piloting the Ducati Desmosedici GP17 which Avintia Racing will acquire from the factory Ducati squad used by Andrea Dovizioso.
Current MotoGP rider Tito Rabat has signed a new contract with the Reale Avintia Racing squad for the 2018 season. After a troubled season with his current Marc VDS squad, the 2014 Moto2 World Champion will race on board the Ducati Desmosedici GP17 for 2018. (more…)

Maverick Vinales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) dengan percaturan tayar belakang lembutnya telah membuahkan hasil apabila dia merentasi garisan penamat di tempat ke-dua di hadapan teman sepasukan, Valentino Rossi yang menamatkan perlumbaan di tempat ke-tiga.

Superbike keluaran Ducati janaan V4 yang akan muncul tiba ini mempunyai runut bunyi yang hampir sama dengan motosikal GP Ducati Desmosedici atau pun Honda RC213V.
Ia juga boleh dianggapkan yang Ducati yang baru ini akan menggunakan turutan pembakaran enjin “big bang” yang memberikan pengalaman menunggang yang amat unik berbanding dengan aturcara enjin V4 yang biasa.
