Multi-national oil firm Shell renews title sponsorship for Malaysia MotoGP.
Dutch multinational oil firm Shell has renewed its title sponsorship deal with Dorna Sports SL for the annual Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (Malaysia MotoGP). The renewed partnership sees Shell continuing its support as the title sponsor for the annual racing event for both its upcoming 2015 and 2016 editions.
The annual Malaysia MotoGP race weekend will be held in the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from Oct 23 to Oct 25. This year marks the event’s 17th continuous appearance in the circuit and tickets are already on sale via SIC’s official website.
Shell has been supporting the annual Malaysian MotoGP race weekend since 2009, marking its sixth year as the title sponsor this year as well. In a statement released to the press, Shell’s general manager of global marketing for consumer lubricants Andrew Herpher states, “This round of the MotoGP World Championship – held at the Sepang International Circuit – is one of the most exciting on the calendar and we are very pleased to continue our support of this event, which dates back to 2009, in a region that is very important for Shell.”
Furthermore, Andrew also noted that the deal aligns perfectly with Shell’s positions as the technical partners to the Ducati Corse MotoGP team and the ever-growing Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup regional Moto3 championship.
