Shell Malaysia takes extra steps to make petrol stations safe

The Movement Control Order has put a halt on a lot of operations to battle the widespread of the COVIC-19 pandemic. Petrol stations are still open with limitations and Shell Malaysia wants to ensure its customers that they are taking extra steps and precautions to ensure that their petrol stations are safe and sanitized.

Petrol stations still remain a ‘high traffic area’ and with 950 Shell stations nationwide, sanitization plays a vital role in making sure that all high-touch areas are disinfected regularly. From petrol pumps, pin pads, door handles, pay windows, cashier area, and more, Shell petrol stations staff members will disinfect these areas every single hour of operation.

Food and store safety are taken to another level as only take-aways and delivery orders are allowed during the Movement Control Order. All high-touch areas near the F&B areas are also sanitized every hour to ensure that they’re clean and disinfected for other customers to use. The same goes for the Shell petrol stations’ toilets which are cleaned every hour as well.

According to Mr Shairan Huzani Husain, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd, “Safety and cleanliness of our stations are most important to us. With all the uncertainties brought about by the rapidly evolving situation around us, we want to give our customers peace of mind when they are at Shell stations. We assure Malaysians that Shell is committed to creating a clean and safe environment for customers at our stations.”

Social distancing and staff health are monitored at every shift to ensure that even Shell workers are healthy and unaffected by the pandemic. Safety is everyone’s number one priority at the moment and the same goes to the unsung heroes like Shell staff members who keep the country running during this challenging period.
