Leaked photo gives first glimpse of new and revised 2017 KTM 390 Duke naked bike.

It has been long known that the KTM 390 Duke naked bike was going to get replaced. With ever-tightening emissions restriction coming into place, a new 390 Duke was more or less certain to come by 2017 at least.

With that in mind, it was only a matter of time before we started seeing the first spyshots of the new 2017 model like this one that reportedly leaked out of the firm’s India-based facility this week.

Looking back at the prototype that was spied testing not too long ago and this new leaked image side by side, we now have a clear idea of how the new KTM 390 Duke will look like.

Highlights of the revised 2017 model’s aesthetics are rather clear such as the new headlamp design and new fairing designs as well. Also reshaped is the fuel tank and seats that are likely to improve riding ergonomics.

Other cosmetic changes we can expect include a new taillight unit and perhaps a new Euro 4-compliant side-exit exhaust as seen in the updated 2016 KTM RC390.

Whilst the cosmetic changes will grant the new 2017 KTM 390 Duke with a more aggressive outlook, the most crucial of changes will take place underneath its skin.

Euro 4-compliance is a serious affair, so the new exhaust is just one part of powertrain’s update. The new Duke’s revised 373cc single-cylinder engine is expected to offer improvement in both performance and efficiency as well.

And just like many of its small capacity models, the new and revised 2017 KTM 390 Duke will be built en-masse in India at the KTM-Bajaj production facility located in Pune – where the leaked image was reportedly sourced from.

We can expect the new 2017 KTM 390 Duke naked to make its official debut during either INTERMOT or EICMA sometime later this year before going sale in 2017.
