Indian Scout FTR1200 Custom will go into production?

Indian Motorcycle introduced the Indian Scout FTR1200 Custom flat tracker during EICMA 2017.

After positive feedbacks, it looks like Indian is possibly going to put the FTR1200 into production.

The FTR1200 Custom is based on the successful FTR750 flat tracker which won three races in the 2017 American Flat Track Series.

Indian Motorcycle is known for their strong presence especially in the world of flat track racing. Their Indian Scout FTR750 ridden by the infamous Wrecking Crew in the American Flat Track Series has inspired the birth of the Indian Scout FTR1200 Custom concept machine.

Introduced late last year during the EICMA show in Milan, the brand is looking into expanding their line-up with a sport performance alternative that’s both fun and aggressive towards a wider group of motorcycle enthusiasts especially the younger generation.

The FTR1200 Custom comes ready with the 1,133cc V-twin engine similar to the one found in the stock Indian Scout but fitted into a tubular-steel frame taken from the race-bred FTR750. The 750 dominated the 2017 American Flat Track Series with three wins to its name so it’s no surprise that Indian put the two and two together.

The most beautiful feature has to be those set of pipes lined on the side of the FTR1200 built by S&S. If Indian can maintain that overall look together with its sportier and shorter wheelbase, we might just see the stunning re-emergence of the brand in the future of motorcycles.

With that being said, it’s probably going to be quite hard for Indian to maintain that carbon-fibre bodywork and those beautiful S&S pipes if they wish to go into production whilst conforming to the latest Euro emission regulations. Not to mention the ever sensitive issue on pricing.

Whatever the case may be, the Indian FTR1200 Custom is arguably of one the most beautiful, aggressive, and modern Indian bikes to date with edginess filled up to the brim. If we had the funds, we wouldn’t think twice in getting this baby out on the road as fast as you can say “Look at that Indian go!”
