The new Ducati Superleggera was recently previewed here in Malaysia and according to sources, up to 3 Malaysians have forked out the princely price associated with it. It is officially the most advanced Ducati ever built and is hailed as an ‘engineers dream’. The Ducati MotoGP team worked exclusively on the Superleggera during their downtime from racing.

At RM488,000 it is the most expensive new bike in Malaysia.
It weighs in at just 155kg dry and 177g wet. That makes it just 6kg heavier than the KTM Duke 390, and 17kg less than a Honda CBR500R.
The 1198cc V-Twin engine makes 200hp and 134Nm. That gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 1.29hp per kg, giving it the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production bike in history.
Only 500 units will ever be built.
Every screw on the Superleggera is made of titanium, and the radiator cap alone is 6 grams lighter than the one on the standard Panigale.
Every plastic bit on the Panigale has been replaced with carbon fibre
The front frame is made of magnesium alloy while the rear subframe is made of, you guessed it, carbon fibre.
The Superleggera is the lightest super bike ever built!
Ducati opted for the non WSBK-sped FSGR Ohlins suspension, opting instead for the Ohlins FL916 custom machined-billet fork bottoms.
The only part on the Superleggera that is actually heavier than the standard Panigale is the LED headlight.
It lapped the Mugello track at an amazing 1 minute 54.9 seconds. On street rubber!
The brakes are Brembo M50 monobloc.
The engine has new titanium exhaust valves and two-ring pistons.
If that is not hardcore enough for you, Ducati is offering a race kit. This gives you an Akrapovic exhaust system, which gives you 5hp more and reduces weight by a further 2.5kg.
The electronics package on the Superleggera includes a new wheelie control system, traction control and engine braking control. The Superleggera also records and displays lean angle.
