“We are not considering Dovi at all for 2021” – Petronas Yamaha SRT

MotoGP is back again this weekend for its second triple-header starting in Misano, Italy where most folks are looking forward to the official announcement between Valentino Rossi and Petronas Yamaha SRT. Constant delays have been linked to Rossi possibly retiring as well as the prospect of bringing Hafizh Syahrin onboard again in the premier class.

There is also news indicating that current Ducati factory rider, Andrea Dovizioso, is currently in talks with Petronas Yamaha SRT for the second seat on the Yamaha M1. To clear the air surrounding this gossip, Dato’ Razlan Razali, team principal of Petronas Yamaha SRT posted on his Facebook page with the message “Setting the record straight, we are not considering Dovi at all for 2021.”

Previously, it was made known regarding the fallout between Andrea Dovizioso and KTM regarding signing him on for 2021. It seems that they weren’t able to come into terms between rider and manufacturer and to date, “DesmoDovi” is still left without a ride for 2021. We also suspect that his high demand for salary might have something to do with it.

The MotoGP circus heads to Misano this weekend where things will definitely get interesting between championship leader, Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) with 70 points, Andrea Dovizioso with 67 points, Jack Miller (Pramac Ducati) with 56 points, plus six other riders who have obtained over 40 points so far.
