Puig releases Side Spoiler “Downforce” range – Superbike winglets!

  • Puig has released their latest Side Spoiler “Downforce” range which is superbike winglets for 1,000cc bikes.

  • The ‘side spoilers’ by Puig is said to offer better downforce for improved grip and stability.

  • Currently, the range covers models like the Kawasaki ZX-10R, Honda CBR1000RR, Yamaha R1, Suzuki GSX-R1000, and BMW S 1000 RR.

Are you a fan of MotoGP? Interested in all the aero-fairings and winglets that have been used by the teams over the year? Want to get your hands on some for your superbike? Then, you need to check out Puig’s Side Spoiler “Downforce” range which is a selection of superbike winglets for your crotch rocket!

Designed for high-end 1,000cc superbikes, Puig developed the aftermarket winglets following the evolution of MotoGP. According to Puig experts, “Puig puts at your fingertips the latest aerodynamic innovations from the competition, which provides significant improvements in performance and driving your sport.”

They also claimed that these winglets have been tested in track condition where they assist in elevating the bike’s overall grip performance during braking by applying more downforce as well as offering better high-speed stability when blasting down long straights and cornering, too. There’s also a reduction in anti-wheelie effect when you open up the throttle so that is always good, especially in racing.

Looking at the entire range (with a price tag of around €138 per set or RM655), we must say that the Puig winglets do add a more aggressive and futuristic appeal to the already-impressive superbikes. The range includes side spoilers for many different models which are:

  • Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R (2016 – 2019)
  • Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade (2017-2018)
  • Yamaha YZF-R1 (2015 – 2018)
  • Suzuki GSX-R1000 (2017-2018)
  • BMW S 1000 RR (2015 -2018)

The list does not include any superbikes from Italian manufacturers like Ducati or Aprilia but looking at the bikes like the new Ducati Panigale V4 (with superior electronics package) and Aprilia RSV4 RF LE (which already has winglets), we’re not entirely sure what will happen if more side spoilers were added onto the machine.

As for the other bikes available in the list, Puig explains that the side spoilers are not just for show but actually provide an advantage to the riders by providing more downforce and stability. Essentially, it is a performance upgrade in theory and we hope we can our hands on some to test them out. In the meantime, you can check out the video on the side spoilers explained by Puig below!
