Moto3: Joan Mir crowned 2017 Moto3 World Champion!

After the Australian MotoGP round yesterday, Joan Mir of Leopard Racing was crowned the 2017 Moto3 World Champion after winning his ninth race of the season.

The 20 year old Spaniard made his debut just two years ago at the very same track he won the 2017 Moto3 World Championship yesterday.

The intense fight over at Phillip Island had to be stopped due to heavy rain where Joan Mir was announced as the race winner and overall champion.

Joan Mir of Leopard Racing has been crowned the 2017 Moto3 World Champion after an amazing battle yesterday. Despite the ever changing weather conditions which resulted in a red flag due to rain, the race stopped the race where the 20 year old Spaniard won the race in Phillip Island where he sealed the deal as the 2017 Moto3 World Champion.

With nine wins and two rounds remaining, the Spaniard had more than enough points to be crowned as champion. To add further excitement in all the celebrations, they also achieved a one-two finish with 20 year old German Livio Loi taking the second podium spot.

The battle was intense with over seven riders packed tight in the front group where everyone brought the fight including our very own young Malaysian rider Adam Norrodin from the SIC Racing Team who finished in eighth place.

Jorge Martin (Del Consa Gresini Moto3) completed the podium despite all the hard battles and ever-changing positions between the top riders. In total, the top 8 was only separated within less than a second.

Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) did all he could to ensure that the world championship will move onto the final two rounds. The young Italian even led the Australian GP for a few moments but only managed to finish the race in sixth after the red flag was waved.

Only two years after replacing the injured Hiroki Ono at the same track he made his Moto3 debut, Joan Mir made a lasting impression which is further cemented by winning the 2017 Moto3 crown. What a way to end his Moto3 efforts before continuing his journey for the first time in Moto2 beginning next season together with the Marc VDS outfit.
