EBR enters WSBK

EBR 1190 RX

American niche sports bike brand Erik Buell Racing (EBR) has confirmed its entry to compete in the World Superbikes Championship (SBK) starting this year.

Partnering with India’s Hero Motor Corp, Team Hero EBR will be making the switch from AMA to WSBK, retaining both its US riders Geoff May and Aaron Yates as well. EBR will effectively become the first US bikes brand to enter and compete in WSBK.

The team will be managed by Giulio Bardi, who in a press statement said: “We have a lot of work to do but when the lights go out for the opening race at Phillip Island in February, we will be ready.”

EBR’s founder Erik Buell on the other hand stated: “The EBR 1190RX has some very unique engineering technology, and how to optimise this for each race series is something that takes time to learn. With the winter testing ban, we will have to wait and see where we are in terms of current pace and performance. Nobody is expecting podiums, but we will be hard at work, learning and improving.”
