2017 Suzuki GSX-S1000 now with More Power and Slipper Clutch

  • New engine part and slipper clutch for both GSX-1000 and GSX-S1000F

  • Now with 150hp and 108Nm of torque

The new Suzuki GSX-S1000 will be getting a power upgrade this year making a total of 150hp @ 10,000rpm. The manufacturer’s flagship super-naked sports bike gets the extra power courtesy of new crankcase ventilation holes. This also in turn increases the torque up to 108Nm @ 9,500rpm. Apart from the new engine enhancement, the GSX-S1000 will be able to control the output thanks to a new slipper clutch for better downshift performance.

The same improvements will be applied to the full-fairing counterpart, the Suzuki GSX-S1000F, as it uses the same engine and chassis as the its naked sibling. However, the GSX-S1000F is getting some extra treatment via suspension setting updates and a wind tunnel-tested fairing for increased versatility.

The two big boys from Suzuki feature a three-mode traction control system (which can be turned off for the brave at heart), Brembo monobloc calipers together with ABS, fully-adjustable KYB suspension and a lightweight frame with swingarm from the previous generation of the race ready GSX-R1000.

When it comes to looks, the bikes now come with black lever and foot controls plus a new tinted screen for the fairing model. Both bikes will be available in the classic black and blue livery as well as the red and black colourway. Looking for something a bit more ‘pure’? The F model also comes in all-white.

If those new updates are not enough to rock your boat, there will also be a special edition GSX-S1000 Phantom that comes in stealth matte black paint with red highlights, black silencers and forks. These models have not been confirmed on when they will arrive on our shores but they will be available in the UK market in March starting from £9,699 up to £10,299 (around RM53,657 to RM56,977).
