Revamped 2014 WSBK rules to cut costs

A series of regulation changes in the World Superbikes Championship (WSBK) is set to take place starting next year (2014). The changes will take place gradually over the next three seasons in order to cut costs.

WSBK will soon see a price cap beginning in 2014. Rumours indicate that team expenditure on race bikes and components will be capped at just €250,000. WSBK will also implement a maximum number of engines rule, a regulation already in place in MotoGP with great success.

Also, manufacturers will be required to guarantee in providing a minimum number of motorcycles with the same state of tuning for lease or purchase to teams. This rule however does not clearly distinguish the factory-spec and satellite teams-spec machinery at the moment.
