MotoGP: Ben Spies to skip French GP

Still plagued with a shoulder injury, Ignite Pramac Ducati MotoGP rider Ben Spies has been advised by doctors to skip the upcoming French GP. Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will again replace the American who missed the recent Spanish GP.

Since reporting of ‘shooting pains’ in his chest as a result of overcompensating during the United States GP, Spies has undergone further treatment with doctors to treat his injury that was caused last year.

Replacement rider Pirro will again race for the Pramac team at the upcoming French GP in Le Mans. The Italian however will not race a ‘laboratory-spec’ Desmosedici GP13 prototype development machine he used as a wildcard entry at the Spanish GP, and will instead ride one of the bikes in Pramac’s inventory.

According to the Pramac team, Spies will instead make a return to racing in Mugello two weeks after the French GP.
