Day two of the KTM Five Mountain Santai ride saw us coming down Cameron Highlands to Gua Musang and up to Jeli before turning to Gerik and settling down halfway at the Belum Forest Resort on the Tasik Temenggor.
Before we left Cameron Highland we took a detour to Gunung Brinchang which is apparently the highest point on Cameron Hill. Getting to the top meant going through the Boh Plantation at Sungai Palas, we did stop at the Boh Station for a cup of tea n the way out.
After clearing the jam in Cameron Highlad from hords of people buying strawberries and vegetables, the road towards Gua Musang featured long sweeping corners with quick elevation changes that makes it possible mostof the time to see how sharp the corner ahead is.
But if not for the occasional bumps on the road I would say its almost perfect to blast on, that fact didnt bother much on some of the rides in the group though.
Once we hit Gua Musang the roads changed to a scenic kampung feel as we cruise up towards Jeli. A quick fuel up and we were off again towards Gerik on the famous Gerik highway.
One of the oldest roads in Malaysia and its also one of the most awesome to ride on. At some point you’d be excused if you think you are riding in Europe.
At the highest point is Puncak where you can find the highest rest area in the country. Its a must to stop here for every traveler and have a teh tarik while enjoying the scenery and cold air.
A few sips, a few camera snaps and we were on our way down towards TasikTemenggor and to the Belum Rainforest Resort for a night’s rest. Another 300km plus coverd and for the next stage is to go to Gunung Jerai, the last mountain for us to conqour.
