Is this the world’s fastest 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260?

Ducati has possibly created the world’s fastest 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak bikes.

These two bikes will compete next month at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2018.

Some modifications include OZ Racing magnesium wheels, custom Termignoni exhaust, special Ohlins suspensions, and more.

For this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Ducati is ready to get things going with more than just a normal bike with a normal rider. In order to reclaim the King of the Mountain title, Ducati has essentially created the world’s fastest 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 specifically for Pikes Peak.

Piloting two of these babies won’t be your everyday track day riders, too. Former outright Pikes Peak record-holder Carlin Dunne and current Pikes Peak middleweight record-holder Codie Vahsholtz have been appointed specifically for one task only; get the 1260 to the top the fastest way possible.

These 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak editions have gone through a rigorous diet program where they’ve removed all the unnecessary lighting system and any engine protection which may be good for road use but are seen as extra weight for Pikes Peak.

To further drop the bike’s overall weight, some OZ Racing forged magnesium wheels have been installed along with a custom Termignoni full system exhaust which we all know cost a small fortune to obtain. Dropping the weight helps with handling and the exhaust assists in optimum engine breathing capabilities for its 1,262cc Testastretta DVT engine for maximum power output.

A custom Ohlins suspension package has been included for maximum suspension response and feel to ensure that the riders are able to pilot the Multistrada up the unforgiving Pikes Peak. In order to win the ‘Race to the Clouds’, the Ohlins suspensions have been further modified by Race Tech to optimum suspension setup including ride height adjustments.

Other updates include a WorldSBK-spec master cylinder fitted to its front Brembo M50 brake unit, custom Rizoma rearsets for improved cornering clearance and an ECU update for maximum power and torque outputs.

The end result? Without a doubt the world’s fastest Ducati Multistrada and one of the most fine-looking ones, too. What a pair, these two. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2018 Race Day will happen on 24 June 2018 in Colorado Springs, USA.
