Remember the time when Valentino Rossi left Yamaha at the end of 2010? The nine-time MotoGP world champion got the offer to form the ultimate Italian dream team with Ducati. It was a very emotional time for the Italian and as it turns out, he’s a hopeless romantic as well especially when it comes to his beloved Yamaha M1 race machine.

Those who know the story of Rossi’s departure from Yamaha also knew that he wrote a very, VERY personalised goodbye letter not to the team but to HIS BIKE. Yes, Valentino Rossi handwrote a love letter for his Yamaha M1 after deciding that the official press release for his departure was too ‘impersonal’.

The letter came to be when the Yamaha Press Officer William Favero delivered Rossi a draft of the press statement while waiting for his flight. Being the racer that he was (and still is), Rossi decided that the press release should be handwritten by him and that’s exactly what he did – at the back of the statement itself.

That very statement with the love letter etched at the back has been donated by Yamaha to an Australian charity called “A Cure for Freyja”, a MotoGP fundraising online auction which will be auctioning off an entire collection of MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 items (some signed) for a good cause.

The item goes up for auction on 2 August 2017 with an opening price of 5,000 Australian Dollars (around 17,134 after direct conversion). To know more about Rossi’s love letter, CLICK HERE.

Besides the letter, there are over 100 items that are going to be auctioned off such as an autographed HJC RPHA11 helmet signed by Jonas Folger himself which he wore back in Barcelona this year. Do take note that HJC has not released this particular design just yet so if you buy this, you’ll be the only owner besides Jonas Folger himself.

Bidding starts at 800 Australian Dollars (around RM2,741 after direct conversion). That is a very good bargain considering that the item’s value have the potential to skyrocket with how Jonas Folger is currently progressing. Want to know more about Folger’s HJC helmet? CLICK HERE.

There are other rare items going on the auction table which will start on 2 August 2017. Looking for a pair of Ohlins Racing front fork used in the 2017 Moto2 race bikes? The online bidding starts at a cool 5,000 Australian Dollars (around RM17,134 after direct conversion). To know more about this particular item, CLICK HERE.

The online auction organised by www.shannons.com.au will begin on 2 August 2017 and will continue for around two weeks. Interested in getting a MotoGP memorabilia of your very own while donating for a good cause? Check out the entire auction gallery by clicking HERE.
