MotoGP: Dani Pedrosa together with Petronas Yamaha?

  • Some folks have speculated that Dani Pedrosa will stay in MotoGP next season together with the Petronas Yamaha satellite team.

  • While nothing has been confirmed, Lin Jarvis stated that talks between Yamaha and Petronas are currently going well.

  • The next 24 hours will reveal if these possibilities are true as we wait for the official announcements.

After last round’s fiasco regarding the future of current Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa, a lot of different folks around the world have already begun speculating the Spaniard’s future in MotoGP. With all of the factory seats confirmed, one question remains. WHERE WILL DANI PEDROSA GO?

While there were some who predicted that Pedrosa will retire from the premier class after 13 premier class seasons with HRC, a few other key parties in the MotoGP paddock have indicated otherwise. Lin Jarvis, in particular, was one of those people.

The Yamaha team boss stated that the possibility of a Yamaha satellite team powered by Petronas is currently positive. While nothing has been set in stone just yet, some media outlets have already begun stating that Pedrosa has already signed a new contract with the still unconfirmed team.

According to Jarvis, “We have two factory riders in a factory team and they will get the focus for development in the future. Yes, we can supply a bike of equal level for another team but it is a matter of money.”

“After that, the development goes to the factory riders and when it works and if we have enough time to produce extra parts they will filter down to other riders. It also depends on finance because there are different price levels for different specs of bikes and support,” added the Yamaha team boss.

Currently, the rumours are pointing towards the new Petronas Yamaha satellite team replacing the Aspar Ducati team which is said to make their exit at the end of this season due to financial issues. Their second rider? A set of eyes are looking at Marc VDS’s, Franco Morbidelli.

The MotoGP circus has already set up shop in the Netherlands for the Motul TT Assen round and we expect that the official announcement of the Petronas Yamaha satellite team together with their two riders will be made in the very, VERY near future.
