Meet Dougie Lampkin, the man who wheelied for 60km around Isle of Man TT circuit!

Dougie Lampkin is the first and only person who has successfully wheelied around the Isle of Man TT circuit.

The entire 60km-lap consisting of over 200 turns, elevation changes, traffic and unpredictable weather did not stop the 40-year-old 12-time motorcycle trials world champion.

It took him about an hour and 35 minutes to ride around the circuit on just one wheel using his custom Vertigo Ice Hell 300 trials bike.

Ask any motorcycle enthusiast about the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy and the first thing you’ll get is a smile. It doesn’t matter if its nine-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi or just the average guy hanging out at your local workshop, the Isle of Man located between England and Ireland hosts the world’s greatest (and deadliest) motorcycle road race of all time, the TT.

When heavily-modified race bikes are not thundering down village roads in access of over 300km/h, the island has always gained a lot of interest from other folks from around the world. Take one particular Dougie Lampkin as an example. The 41 year old motorcycle trials and endurocross rider performed something quite spectacular last year at the legendary road circuit.

Who is Dougie Lampkin? Well, the Brit rider is known for being a 12-time motorcycle trials world champion. Let us elaborate that for you. He won the World Indoor Championships five years in a row from 1997 to 2001 and the World Outdoor Championships seven years in a row from 1997 to 2003. Technically, he was world champion for seven years straight from 1997 all the way to 2003!

Last year in September, Dougie Lampkin together with the support from Red Bull performed something quite spectacular at the Isle of Man. The 60km TT circuit consists of over 200 turns, elevation changes, traffic and unpredictable weather was conquered by Lampkin on just one wheel. DOUGIE LAMPKIN PERFORMED A WHEELIE FOR 60KM AROUND THE ENTIRE ISLE OF MAN TT CIRCUIT.

It took the man about an hour and 35 minutes to lap the world’s most notorious circuit on just one wheel using his very special Vertigo Ice Hell 300 trials bike. This 300cc single-cylinder two-stroke motorcycle produces 23hp BUT only weights about 70kg! Some modifications were made to make it more ‘wheelie-friendly’ such as rear foot pegs, extended fuel tank and a special electric motor mounted on the front tyre for balance.

In the end, Lampkin set the world record as the first and only person who has successfully completed a wheelie around the Isle of Man TT circuit. With such an impressive skill set, Lampkin is always out and about with wacky and crazy rides. Check out his latest conquest in riding in an abandoned theme park below!
